I really love deadlifts because it seems that above all exercises, it is the one where it is easiest to quit. What I mean is if you aren't completely committed to making the lift then you can fail on weights you would otherwise be able to lift comfortably. This lift explicitly teaches you to understand what it means to have willpower and determination and the difference it makes. The self-awareness and mind power it develops translates to all areas of life.

He bends his knees and stays low for 23 seconds before he pulls. The longer you're down there the more tired your legs get, which are 1/7 of a deadlift.
its actually a great workout for the lower back. if you want to improve posture and over all back health doing deadlifts with lower weights and high reps would really do a miracle for tightening up a lot of muscles in your back and legs.

impressive. i personally dnt agree with dead lifts but he does them ok. his first lift is good then after that he starts to use his back too much and not enough leg. at least he doesnt turn one hand around.
Also, he doesn't use the alternating grip because he has straps. No need to do that with straps. But without straps and that much weight, an alternating grip would be necessary.
I have a question for all you experienced deadlifters out there.
When I do deadlifts for about 5-7 reps, I sometimes when I go heavy, I do some reps, then loose grip, then I finish the remaining reps. Should I do them without stopping, or doesnt it matter?
I have a question for you: Why would you do 700 for 7 reps? Is it because the strongest man competitions have 7 rep deadlift lifts like the barrels or the car deadlifts?
I don't want to sound like I'm criticizing, but why not do 5 or under and just crank the weight up on those? Wouldn't that produce the same effect?

I don't know anyone who can deadlift 455 yet....including personal trainers, powerlifters, and exercise science majors.
But most of us haven't been lifting long enough to hit that number yet. I've only been seriously training since March so I've got a long way to go.
