This was a good movie. It apparently turned a surplus of $313,201. The budget was $20 million. Personally, I like this compared to the movies of today.
I can honestly and truly stand by the statement that this is genuinely my favorite comedy of all frickin time. :D And ESPECIALLY my favorite POLITICAL satire of all time. lol
This is a very underated and funny film, Jack Lemmon and James Garner are absolutely great toghther. Such a funny poke at politics as well....if you want a real treat, watch this film, you will not be sorry!!
OH HELL YES!!! One of my favorites :)))) TFP (thanks for posting)
What I love about this movie is it makes fun of both sides... republican and democrat...and with an all star cast.. Lemmon (RIP) Garner, and Akroyd. How can you go wrong!!! ha ha ha xD
*The part where Lemmon dances with the panda, I couldnt stop laughing. I started crying!!!* ha ha ha
What a shame....two of the funniest actors who ever lived, yet they had zero chemistry in this movie. It's shocking just how unfunny Lemmon and Garner are in this!!
Thank you so much for putting this up, I actually have it on vhs and dvd but being able to find my favorite clips at work when I need a laugh is fantastic!
I know both of the above, and I'm well aware of who that line refers to. My comment was to someone who appeared to believe it WAS a reference to W, and I said considering that many did not even know who he was at the time this movie was made, it's pretty obvious that it WAS H.W.
Matthau was originally slated to play Douglas but had to back out due to illness. These two were good together in this one--it was actually the first movie I ever saw with Lemmon, and I thought they were both very credible in these roles. In fact, as an added bonus, when I first saw this, I remember thinking Kramer looked like Ross Perot and Douglas looked like Bob Dole. (Remember, this came out soon after the '96 election).
"I hate it when a good Democratic dies." "Sir, I believe the deceased was a republican." "Oh, well, than it won't be that bad then." LOL funniest line yet
@StandTogetherForever Yes, three legendary actors all in one film. As well as Lauren Bacall in a supporting role. Now, if only they had gotten Walter Matthau in it...
"....the point is, i was president of the United States; i don't dance with animals." But you just danced extremely well with a giant dog or panda, sir.
This great movie revolutionized American politics and from that time till date, running for president in the US has taken a different and of course an interesting turn.
COnsidering that there's a line where his wife says "don't do that with the liquor Russ, it's SO George Bush" and considering that this was made before most people even knew who George W. Bush was, I'd say that's a pretty safe bet. :)
i uploaded this for my friends and people who love comady hope you enjoy this movie about 2 old american presidents who are on the run from the goverment funny movie full of laughs hope you enjoy.please leave rating and feedback if you can
what would have been real funny was if this had walter mattheau in it..
