@irish89055 finaly someone who knows what they are talking about. I've been watching caulking tecneaques all night. and u are the only person who know the differance between their uses and applications. Im a caulker of 12 yrs and I can't beleave how many vids tell people to use their finger to tool the beads.
Get a tool and save U'r fingers. Hardware stores people! Get one. finger tooling the corners don't work well either. you either pull material FROM the corner or make a mess IN the corner
@loveofwolfs Thanks, I reread my comment and a bit unclear. Tubs need a 100% silicone for the best job and they can be the hardest to apply being so slippery. As an experienced caulker I still have some trouble but using one of those rubber scoring tools helps. It not using a tool to finish the caulk then line up triggger with 45 degree cut on the tub of width you need and don't finger. If it isn't smooth, then finger caulk out, clean and start over.
@irish89055 I tool with my finger all the time with tubs, showers, sinks and toilets. But only as a finishing tool not as the primary tool. And if it looks bad I use my primary to finish. But people are using their finger for EVERYTHING. Windows, control joints and even sidewalks. With small joints it will work fine. But with wider joints, They look horable. I've been too jobs where the bead is so deplorable, I wondered how or why it passed the punch listing. Caulk everywhere and bumps and humps
@loveofwolfs excuse me while I mute this joker.... You finger small lines of caulk, such as in crown molding or any interior trim. This forces it in the crack and you need to make it look almost invisible. With tubs, sinks, counters and toilets I recommend pure silicone and try not to finger it as it's almost impossible. As I noted above, use one of those rubber tooling things. If I was say caulking some siding, again only finger it where you need to correct a clump.. no welding joints lol
if done correctly you dont have to wipe(the key is the right wipe at 45degree angle and the cut tip lined up with the gun trigger... though pure silicone is very difficult to freehand with no wiping. Wiping just removes the caulk, don't(unless for a second attempt) .. For the amateur use one of those tools for shaping the caulk.
Get a spray bottle of soapy water. Once you apply the caulking spray the soapy water on top THEN run your finger. A lot less messier and nicer finish.
Tis better to push than pull. Try it next time. It really does work better, and you don't have to smooth the bead with your finger which will, over time, cause liver damage. Read the label.
nice video! I'm still getting there. my first job was a mess. every edge had at least an inch of overflown silicone everywhere lol. this weekend I have done it better but only experiences can lead to doing it without masking tape. it's a must for me for now.
nice video, and i was just trying to apply this around the tub, but i only got to do like 10 inches run out of caulk. My boyfriend did it for me last time, but it was wayyyy to thick, I like how u did it,hopefully mine comes out like yours lol, Do you have any tips how to get rid of mold? it comes back every 2 months, it got black really black, that why I took it off ? Is there any way to get rid of it? thanks
If you have black mould that keeps appearing over a short period of time, it's because there is too much moisture in the air with no-where to go, running down the tiles or settleing in corners and edges, moisture collects and allows spores to grow into mould. The room must be well ventilated with an extractor fan if possible. Always open a window to get the water molecules out of the air. If your bathroom does not have a window or a fan, ventilate the room leaving the door open for a while.
is there a taste to the caulk?

Concise and simple. Like the note of stopping every 12 - 18 inches, wet rag, etc. Others don't show that. Thanks man!
