  • Mine's comin!!! Any pointers for the maiden horizon?

  • Nice video! Is this hard to fly? I have a parkzone t-28d and a parkzone p-51d mustang. Do you think I could manage to fly this one?

  • Horizon hobby. I have a dx5e. The 60$ transmitter. Will that be compatible with this airplane.

  • @jademakos123 It will technically bind to that radio but we don't recommend anything below the DX6i

  • @webOSroundup Will it fly though, Like its not gonna be a problem to use that radio right. I dont know about spending so much for the radio.

  • when will parkzone* i meen

  • when will horizon be doing ac chargers?

i cant afford a dencent one so i can only charge 2/3cells at up to 1.5 amps from my hobbyzone power supply :(

  • What about retracts??

  • @Iamyurdaddy Retracts would be a custom installation. There's nothing that we currently carry that would be a drop-in installation.

  • Be careful, it is a cool plane and flies well, I just bought it. However, it is NOT easy to fly and NOT easy to LAND!!! It is a good plane and all but comes in unbelievably fast. My advice is to check ur runway and make sure it is long enough, don't make the same mistake I did. Mine took 4 tries to land and all were overshot, on the fourth try it ran out of battery and hit the ground 100 mph... Please consider my warning before purchasing... :)

  • what battery does this use, like a 3 or 4 cell? would a hawk sky stock battery be good for this plane?

  • @rcplanesofma24 4s 3200 mah

  • @ossiegoldhill123 This weekend, October 21-24

  • I love my Habu. Putting retracts in it next week!

  • is parkzone going to come out with another warbird before december?

  • @steveoh2395 Thats what they said on the forums mate, check out rcgroups ;-)

  • My wing doesn't seat nearly as flush against the fuse as shown. I think I'll use some clear tape around the outside of the main duct to hold them together firmly. I wish the ESC were exposed to the main air cannel as well so you could taxi without overheating. The other option would be to greate a duct from the main cannel to the cabin which would create airflow even when the model is not moving, if the engine were engaged.

  • @bastian74 Lastly, while the cabin is shaped for idiot-proof placement of battery, esc and rx it doesn't leave any room for tweaks, such as a heavier battery. You have to cut some foam in order to make room to slide the battery forward/backward depending on which one you use. I suppose if you always use the same battery it's not an issue, but a uniformly shaped recess would be nice. You can use a pen to mark which battery goes where. Pretty easy fixes to make it much more diverse.

  • analog or digital servos?

  • Does the wind affect this planes flight more that a F4U or cub or radian?

  • Sorry, I forgot to ask. Can you paint over the Z foam, I think it would look better in a camouflage scheme. Thanks.

  • Also Can I have details to add Jim Booker on my facebook? He's a legend.

  • Head over to the HH Facebook page and ask would be my recommendation.

  • Hello RC'ers. I need your advice. I have a Spek 6dxi & Ar500 RX. I'm thinking of getting the plug & play Habu. The thing is how good is the 3200 Li-po you get included? Should I buy my own uprated Li-po & Charger? This would work out more expensive than the bind & fly option but surely I'd have better gear right? I can always keep the AR500 as a spare or for another model.

  • If you don't already have a 4S LiPo I would probably recommend going with the BNF just from a cost standpoint. It also comes with the charger too. As far as the quality of the pack it's pretty decent. You can always get extra performance by using a higher C-rating pack that will boost performance somewhat but honestly all the flying footage we have up on the site is with the stock battery. It's no slouch.

  • The battery pack is plenty powerful enough to move this plane at the blistering speed you see in the video's. This is an amazing plane. Great job parkzone and Horizon

  • considering you are responding to a post horizon removed!! I'm guessing your comment is coming from a guy who works for horizon!!

  • I read it as him responding to your general postings regarding the overall value. The only posting of yours I deleted was the one I messaged you about re: offensive language.

  • personally me and a lot of guy's find efite electronis overpriced and there esc's not very reliable. castle esc's are worth the money but even then I also use cheap esc's from hobby city and not all but some are very well made work great 1/8th the price maybe you should check them out!

  • I have a Habu and I have quite a few of the ParkZone and E Flite models. I just flew a Radian ( as a camera plane) and even a basic glider from these guys does more than I expected. The ParkZone products are wonderful. Don't take my word for it - look how they sell. Once Trojan or BF109 flies in a club, everyone wants one! The Habu is great. Its even more expensive in the U.K, but its still worth it as it does what it says it does and it takes no time to get flying!

    Thanks Parkzone Servoboy

  • what you guys should do is sell this as an arf with the fan unit for $120 bucks as another option because not everybody wants all your overpriced electronics and give people the chance to set your planes up the way they want to!!! some people still like to build. you should do this with all you pnp bnf planes!!

  • I think your lucky its less expensive in the USA than the U.K. Do to higher taxes and the social and economic differences in the U.K all the PNP and BNF aeroplanes are more expensive. BUT I keep buying them because they are great. Every ParkZone and E Flite model I have had performs like it says on the box. It also saves my time and time is so valuable. I have built 100s of models and still do build, but I think with BNF and PNP Horizon have struck gold. The Habu is FANtastic!

    Servoboy

  • simple I can build a faster better jet just buy getting my components from hobbycity give me your airframe and $100.00 bucks of stuff from HC and I will have a 5S jet that will blow yours away!!

  • over priced not worth it!!!

  • How so? You're getting an $85 Brushless ESC, $80 Ducted Fan Motor, $30 Fan unit, $120 4S LiPo, $60 AR500 receiver, $36 balancing charger and a $99 airframe just for starters. Add that up and you get $510 before adding things such as the servos and other odds and ends into there. For what the Habu comes with it's actually a great value.

  • when it comes to simple PnP edf jets i'd have to go with the twister, but any thing with a prop or rotor, i have my heart sent on parkzone' sexy flying machines

  • The Habu is an excellent plane. Congratulations to Horizon and Matt Andren on an excellent design. It is really nice to assemble a plane without glue and if necessary later on parts can be replaced. It flies great and looks great. I love the Delta-V power systems. The Habu is a nice addition to my hanger. You guys designed a lot of little things into this plane that are nice additions (tinted canopy, pilot, grooves for the antenna wires, nice battery hold downs, etc. Great work!

  • I also really how the fan mounts are glued into the fuselage and then the fan screws to the mounts. This makes it easy to remove the fan and motor assembly without pulling the fan, glue and foam out of the fuselage and then having to glue the fan back in.

You can tell that a lot of good design work went into this plane.

I look forward to more EDF's in the future that use the same screw together and replaceable parts design.

    Bring us more!

  • I have the E-Flite Bae Hawk too and while it's a very nice plane all of the parts are glued on (wing, tail) and not replaceable if I happen to damage them.

I prefer the Habu design much more.

  • i m saving for it now. hope to fly it soon

    greets from germany

  • Hey guys, the Habu is out there in peoples hands right now, anybody flying one yet?? Let us know.

  • Mine's still on Santa's sleigh. Hopefully he remembers to drop it off Christmas eve. It's so cool though he may decide to keep it for himself.

If he drops it off the weather should be good enough here after Christmas to test it out.

  • Sweet product. Nice video production. Keep up the good work.

  • Nice jet. How long is your flight time with the 4s lipo and how much does the jet weigh in with the battery included? Thanks.

  • check your local hobby shops guys! i just picked one up, 330 out the door for the PNP. Gonna maiden it tomarrow, might get video.

  • Congratulations on the excellent design work. I have many EDF's where the main wing, tail, etc. is glued to the fuselage. Luckily I haven't damaged any of them but I would prefer replaceable parts like you have designed into the Habu.

I just saw another video shot in Florida during a pylon race and the Habu performed much better than any other EDF in the race. Thanks for making an EDF that performs like a jet should!

These have started shipping and I'm anxiously awaiting mine.

  • That model is slicker n a schoolmarm's knee

  • Its flying is really impressive, so smooth! Parkzone put in very quality engineering work. I don't like the grey-yellow livery but hope in future alternative liveries will be made.

  • I have been flying pusher plane , but never a EDF jet plane. Is the Habu EDF plane easy to fly?

  • Hi Jim, another great parkzone! lets hope us poor aussies see it soon...make sure we dont pay the earth too will ya ;)

  • I see after he has it all put together...he is holding it at the back. And when he first put it down on its wheels...I think the front popped up....so I am thinking he is holding the back to keep the nose from popping up. So its a tail heavy plane then?

  • CC, there is no battery in it at that point. The battery is necessary to balance the airplane for flight. And yes it is properly balanced.

  • I notice there was some talk about hand launching this model but it looks as though it could be a little difficult to do one handed??? If not I'd have one, maybe a grip around the fuse behind the wing would work or is that to far back? Around the fuse in front of the wing or is that to far forward?

Thats the only problem I can see for me as I dont have a runway to take of from, Thanks.

  • Probably does not have the batt in it...

  • Battery?

  • I have no problem paying an extra $100 for a habu vs. some cheap F-15 edf with a weak motor and glitchy electronics. $400 for an edf that flies and flies or $250+ for one that will be ruined in 5 flights... hmmm. I trust parkzone, even my slo-v has 60 flights and still works like new. That was a $100 beginner plane. It lives on to teach friends and neighbours how to fly.

  • could parkzone sell one of those new LED afterburners? would look really cool with this plane.

  • the plane great the price :(399 you guys trying to rub us .

  • I've heard your comments, now you do this. Check the most common competitior. Then add the cost of everything needed to get theirs ready to fly. Then report back here the total cost. Servos, speed control, receiver, battery, motor. AND nobody has one that flys as good as this one with this little effort!

  • Exactly. Jets have never been cheap. $399 (RETAIL!) for something that's easy to put together that comes with all those high quality components, flys that well, and Binds easily to my existing radio... I'm only the time it takes to charge a battery away from flying. I think the Problem is that you brought this out under the Parkzone name. If it were an E-Flite or Hangar 9 it might not get the same response.

  • I dont like the snake on it, or the cost... but it looks like a great airplane!

  • well ya...its expensive...but look at the size...

  • pretty expensive tho... but pretty cool

  • What a smart EDF! After I master one of the parkzone warbirds this will be the plane I get after - for sure! Habu will be RC #4 for me! (hopefully by spring/summer I'll be confident enough). All honesty though I want it right now.

I like the extra cooling on the bottom, can't wait to see flights and read reviews from parkzone customers.

  • Yeah i really do like this one but the price over here in the UK seems to be over priced to me at £264.99 pnp / bnf £329.99,i just don't see how we get charged so much compeared to what you pay in the USA,i suppose if i want it that bad i had better start saving the pennies now ;-( 5*

  • When they start selling the spare foam parts I'll be in!

  • Jim, Why didn't you talk about the possibility to modify it for retracts? That nose gear looks like no problem. Are the wings thick enough to house the new electric retracts? Jets don't have fixed gear ;-)

  • Jonny, well for two reasons. First I wanted to present it the way we designed it without any modification. Second, there aren't any available to modify until the finished production airplanes arrive!

  • FINALLY! They actually mentioned the DX5E in a video!

  • nice 5*

  • Nice aircraft!:)

  • was looking foward to this video, just facebooked JIm about when it will be out and here it is. Looks like another winner. If your just getting into this hobby go with parkzone and hobbyzone everything else like the banana hobby and nitro planes suck.trust me i spent thousands on thier crap. Horizon Hobby does thier homework. You pay more but save in the long run with quality.

  • Can't wait to get mine!

  • This model is beautiful !

Good Job ! Like ever .

  • Cool looking jet. =)

  • Yay another plane review!

    *yawn*

  • Car reviews and how-tos are being posted today as well. Patience Tim, Patience :)
