  • Good film like this is hard to come by now.

  • this reminds me a lot of british novel Lorna Doone. the west yorkshire police are the doones, the cop with glasses is lorna and the yorkshire landscape is a character in itself just like in wuthering heights.

  • I'm probably being a bit slow on the uptake here but I didn't fully understand the relationship between John Dawson (Sean Bean) and Paula Garland (Rebecca Hall). Why was she sleeping with him? when she said she knew him her "whole life", I imagine this meant he'd molested her as a child? Did he (Bean) have her killed for fear she'd talk? What, if any, was the significance of the swans' wings? I've only watched the 1st one, perhaps this is all explained in the two later episodes.

  • this show looks very interesting and i want to watch it in-fact im trying to watch it only problem is im not british and some of the people in this show have very strong accents which are very hard for me to understand i was watching it on netflix and was trying to see if i could turn captions on but there was no option for that which sucks

  • Wasn't one of the policemen from Daziel and PAscoe?

  • Rebecca was amazing in the town :D

  • Im desperate to find out the music at the start of this advert! Please, does anyone know what it is called and who it is by?

  • @dandadrummerman m83 - Gone

  • @dandadrummerman It's M83. The song is called "gone"

  • @MrFuckFilipino Wow you must be so proud of your self righteous racism. I've run into your sort before, and not here on You Tube, but face to face, and I'll say to you here exactly what I would say to your face. Put up or shut up. I imagine though that when push comes to shove you are yet another Youtube Only mouth.

By the way The Red Riding Trilogy is some of the most powerful television shown in a very long time.

  • Sean's so hot <3

  • @MrFuckFilipino everyone has done evil, no matter what skin colour, we all have the ability to be evil as we are all human.

  • I didnt pay attention to the rest of the video cuz i was too caught up in andrew's beautiful hair <3 <3 <3

  • Very, very good. Nasty. Highly recommended!

  • Liked the first part, half way through the second, bit bored by it, not as good as the first

  • Watched all three episodes within 24hours and was blown away. Thought this is the best series ever on TV and was totally hooked with it. The entire cast and the story are brilliant, but David Morrissey was something else..

  • part 1-masterpiece

  • where can watch this?i dont live in UK

  • @syaifarocks It's available on Amazon. I live in Germany but thankfully can get Channel 4. This series was by far the best thing on telly for years. Absolutely superb!!!!!!! Thank God for Channel 4 Film!!!!!!!

  • @syaifarocks Unfortunately if you live outside the UK you can't access the Channel 4 archive unless you use a proxy server. It's available on Amazon- Buy it, it's absolutely superb!!!!!

  • what does it mean - "Red Riding"?

  • Many things. Most obviously, a play on Red Riding Hood. Also could be a reference to the West Riding of Yorkshire being 'Red' with blood after so many murders.

  • to fightingtemeraire:

    thank you

just watched the first part of the trilogy - brilliant!

  • @fightingtemeraire

definitely a referecne to the ridings!

if only tv were like this more often.

  • @baboon2525 If you're from Yorkshire, it's strange seeing such a brilliant piece of television set in places you're familiar with!

  • Simply MAGNIFICENT!

  • Best trilogy ever the 3rd has the biggest that showed me

  • dude gets beaten up.....has sex.......gets beaten up again .........has sex.........i have counted this cycle 5 times so far in the first show ! lol

  • The best thing the C4 have come up with, you really must watch this. great actors, great writing and epic filming style. You really cannot beat this. But what do i know?

  • Damn. This was one of the best thing i've seen in a long time!

Didn't really like part 2 all that much but part 1 and 3 we're absolute thrillers! Loved it and would definately recommend it!

  • shows not 'series' sorry

  • Read the books by David Peace if you haven't - the TV show kind of bodged 4 novels into 3 series but still - excellent stuff.

    Paddy Constantine FTW

  • Gerard kearns aka leonard cole scene was very realistic and bloody well done by the actor

  • Posting from germany. Does anybody know if this is available on DVD yet? I can't access Channel $ archive cos it doesn#t like my German IP adrress. Anybody help?

  • bit torrents, mininova, btjunkie, pirate bay etc

  • Hi, it is available on Amazon.

  • Thanks WW from Germany

  • Does anyone know why its called "Red Riding"?

  • Well, the various parts of Yorkshire are known as the 'ridings' - East Riding, West Riding and so on. Sticking the 'Red' in there gives you a kind of pun that alludes to the decidely dark fairy tale.

  • cheeers mate, yeh im thick i know lol.

  • as an actoorrrr blah blah blah bla blah blah blah

  • just started reading the books,1974 is terrific much more gory than the tv but the tv adapt was sensational, love the attention to 70's detail they did.Just brilliant/

  • The trilogy is fine there are good things and bad things but a lots still don't understand there is only the idea about Yorkshire's ripper

  • Jim Carter is a very convincing heavy, superb actor, does anyone know the name of the actor who played BJ?,i thought he was awesome.

  • This is superb, Warren Clarke is BAFTA material. Very accomplished performances all round. 5 stars.

  • take ti easy he was not much brilliant

  • Ha, ha, I thought he was top, mind you i rated all the cast. I love that the films are unashamedly Yorkshire also.

  • A great series. It's a shame all the idiots give it so much critic. They couldn't understand it if they tried!

Then again, plebs do prefer a TV diet of big' brother

  • Care to elaborate on that?

  • french prick

  • myy friends dads girlfriends played the brides mum =]

  • This trailer gives away the ending...If wasn't you then who was it?...and up pops Peter Mullan

  • Mark Addy is one of the best loser actors of the world. He was fine in this role then he is going to play in a ...... stupid Horror movie????? he is mad??

I can't believe him from the stars to the seawers.

    what was up with him??

  • Shame something as intelligent as Red Riding will never be appreciated by most, as it's too advanced for them. Especially since it's been the televesion highlight of the decade.

Oh no, They'd rather live on diets of big brother and awful reality tv shows, and mediore hacks.

Brilliant. Excellent cast and plot. All involved are genius'. And yes Paddy Considine is execellent. My Northen Mum thought he was northern.

  • i would compare it to the american drama the wire

  • honestly i think red riding kicks the wire's ass.

  • the bit where he goes in caravan with shotgun was filmed in my town maltby on the pigion field alotments i watched lol ma m8 owned the field gannon's go you lol

  • this is fucking quality good to see some proper northern grit and actors on c4

  • sean bean is sheer genius in episode 1 sean bean deserves a BAFTA award for best supporting actor.

  • i love the narrator's voice, fits with the music and always makes me feel like i've stumbled onto something special.

  • Incredible TV. So many great performances in the 1st episode which was also brilliantly scripted.

Can't wait for the second episode, it's got Paddy Considine in it and he's my favourite British actor.

BBC should take note of this. They haven't made anything this good for a very long time...

  • Agreed. Paddy Considine could play any part, and he could play it amazingly well.

I was amazed at how many accents he can do with such stunning accuracy. He's brilliant and needs more exposure.

I wouldn't be suprised if he one day lands a big role and goes straight to the top of the film industry.

  • I think it's Gone by M83 form the album Dead Cities, Red Seas and Lost Ghosts

  • You're right mate,,,thank you so much, it's been driving me crazy.

  • The cast is absoloutly outstanding and they each hold their own. I't utterly brilliant

  • Some parts reminds me of Changeling.

  • Yes indeed; L.A. Confidential is a good reference point, too.

  • Does anyone know what the music in the background is, at the start of the video?

  • I wanted to know that myself - Anyone have any ideas ? - sounds like Mogwai/Explosions in the Sky 'esqe'

  • Gone by M83 Fucking Incredible Band. Just as good as EITS

  • Cheers bud, thanks to eikofireandice aswell
