isn't it quicker, at the end of the video, to just shift command you drone around instead of micro-ing it? or is it just good to practice micro-ing with that
@Antony1188 it's set up so if you do that you lose. Plus if your scout makes sharp turns the enemy worker is able to get a hit in and eventually kill it
Here's the question that I've been looking for an answer for: How exactly do I scout WHILE still macro-ing ? Every time I send out one of my scv's to scout, I get caught up in building and managing other SCV's that I forget about the scout, it gets to the enemy base, and dies before I see anything...
@RoGFatalEnigma This is what hotkeys are made for: try to assign one both to your command center/hatchery/nexus and to your scouting worker; double press your selected hotkey to view quickly what's going on in your base or what your worker sees. Multitasking will help you to manage your economy while gathering information ;)
@Noaharrives dont even need to. My reccomendation is just to play online alot, and watch replays of losses that surprised you.
Also play through the whole practice league, it will help you gain comfort in late game situations.
Most importantly, LEARN YOUR COUNTERS! For example, its TvZ and you have lots of vikings. Your opponent decides to use mutalisks (natural counter to vikings), you pump out thors because they are the mutalisks counter!
how do you download this game? i select the windows client, it waits for about 2 minutes, it asks me if i want to save the download, i try to save it but then nothing happens. plz help
@justenough215 the 35 green stuff you see on the screen is actually 35 game seconds. It may be somewhat confusing because the clock that symbolizes seconds is green just like gas
Gas stealing is important to talk about. It wasn't as important in the first game (since Terran wasn't getting gas anyway), but it was still very important. TLO said himself that Zerg should ALWAYS gas steal if they can for 2 big reasons: 1 gas means no Banshee play (meaning bio or hellions are coming) and no Colossi. Also, if Terran is using their Marines to kill your Extractor, you know where his Marines are - not marching to your base, meaning you're free to make Drones.
heres a helpful hint the enemys spawn point base is always inverese to you so when ur at the lower left hand corner your enemy is in the top right had corner same goes for all modes exce custom and im not sure about ffa
how do i acess the trainer? i just downloaded it, and when i pull it up it goes to SC2 map editor. it also says my installation of sc2 is corrupt (but i can still play it)
im using this traininer but it doesnt explain how you do that swith between the two area's... what keys are you hitting to get that map response from place to place
@SC2NoobSchool - Please post something on installing and playing custom maps.
I DL'd the trainer map and finally found my map directory but I can not find out how to play the custom map. Alot of other people seem to have the same problem.
@n00bz00rd The point of an early scout is to get into his base before he has any units out. Like he said in the video, you look for basic information such as if he's getting as or not. As for secondary scouting, you can use scanning if you want but it's more efficient to get a mule. Once you get good at scouting, you should be able to get a good chunk of info with your scout without dying
If you zerg, couldent you send your overlord since its an air unit and it can fly over any barriers a terren or protoss would have put down (i am a SC noob) :D plz reply
These videos really helped my gameplay, no more "L2P n00b!!1!"
Thanks a lot, I look forward to more advanced complex ones. I was hoping for maybe some counters to very common micro strategies, those would be great!
i downloaded the multitasking trainer, put the file in the "maps" folder for starcraft 2, but i cant play it... there is absolutely nothing online to tell me how to do this simple thing... how do i play the map????? thanks...
How about Terran? Because I think they can use orbital command for... orbital sweep and drop MULE as a temporary scout, that's just my thinking though
And, as you said, second scouting is important, but how about like third, fourth, etc? Do you do that? Especially when the enemy has good defense (i.e. more units around their base, quick enough to kill your scout before seeing anything) OR build something like spine crawler/photon cannon around chokepoints of their base...?
@goodbecks after they wall off, if you're zerg, sack an overlord at about 30 or around that timing to see whats up. Terran just save a scan, and protoss go for your maphacks, the observer.
This video isn't really all that helpful and I didn't feel that I learn a whole lot about analyzing your opponent. He only gave one example of what a spawning pool without gas mining could mean and he didn't really go into much detail on the other races. I'd like to have seen examples that dictate MM or MMM balls, marine rush, zealot gate rush, ling rush, roaches etc. I think most anyone could gather for themselves that initial base scouting reveals little and second scout reveals more
hahahahha I'm so glad that internet would bring us so close everywhere around the world, i'm mexican, very glad to have communication with you... hahahaha
@imnotbad9 Im sorry....What league aer you in? Have you watched pro replays? Scouting is VERY important, because no matter WAHT you see, you can automatically predict what they are going for. For example, if you see no extractor for a zerg and no spawning pool with ur first scout around 9 supply, then you can AUTOMATICALLY PREDICT that he is going fast expand. If he has one gas, you can predict he will get banelings or roaches, so on. SCOUTING IS CRUCIAL.
@Rectowarrior sort of right about that, and this is super late so youve prob improved, but its important if your playing a good player, to scout their gas. If they are not collecting any, mass ling or fast expand. if they collect 100 and stop there, speedlings, if they collect 100+ which most players do even though they are going speedlings they just forget to take their drones off gas, it will be either banelings or roaches.
@imnotbad9 Oh. One other thing. I hope you know what cheese is...if you're decent at all you should. If you SCOUT cheeses EARLY, you can stop them, counter them, and Roflstomp ur opponents face and laugh at him for trying to cheese afterwards. if you didn't scout, you could be caught off guard and lose a potentially easy game to win.
@imnotbad9 I'm only new to the game but I completely disagree with you. Scouting is so very important in successful SC play. It allows you to see what your opponent is doing and adapt to it. It's important in winning and overcoming your opponent.
@imnotbad9 Yes, you want to get the econ boost, then suddenly your opponent come to harass your worker, then bring a big load of army to finish the job. Continuous scouting is important, you don't want a surprise attack and regret the game.
@imnotbad9 you are an idiot... thats why you will never win a good sum of games. scouting allow you to predict what the opponent is going to build by seeing their build order early game... beside, i bet i can have more income than you AND knowing what you will build. i wonder who will win...
Thank you for all these helpful info, especially the trainer. Gonna subscribe to your channel. Can't say how thankful I am to all these Tutorial you are putting up, SC is a very daunting game especially when I am new and getting my ass handed to me half the time. Respect to you as a veteran player who is committed to help newer players. Thanks a million and keep up the good work.
Hi Trebis, I really enjoyed your videos so far dude. Keep up the great work! Do you record videos of your face and talk seperately and the SC2 in game thing seperately and then mash them up? Or do you do that simultaneously? What's your rig like?
@DeadArrow987 if your still in the practice league then yes there will be tons of them blocking bases but once your our of the practice league then all thoose rocks go away with a few exceptions.
You can shift click a list of orders for any unit. Just hold shift, then begin assigning the tasks you wish to have that unit complete. It can be as simple as moving a unit around, such as what you would do for this probe, you can preload a few laps, or as complicated as setting up an entire scout path and build order.
I am starting out SC2, your video helps. Thank you. Just some doubts, you mention constant production in workers for mineral/gas harvest, but how many workers are to be considered enough? Or how do you determine its enough? Also, regarding about the micro attack-move commands, take maruder vs zergling for example, could you use (H) hold position instead of the (A) attack command towards enemy instead? So, you would be backing off the maruder and using (H) to attack, is this feasible?
@sektube Yes, hold position works to fire off a quick volley, then immediately move them again. This keeps the zerg constantly running around while you take pot-shots.
@Chzmeplz All Blizzard maps have specific starting points, before you play a game, feel free to do some comp stomps to get familiar with those starting points. That's where you want to send your scout.
Also most maps are symmetrical, so you can guess where to go looking at your map and your position.
I downloaded the map and i was doing really good (have like 20 marines 7 maruaders and 4 medic vacs with 3 seige tanks) than it said macro energy limit high... then said defeat. What is that about? I know I could of won!
Hi again, how do you change the camera from the other side of the map to the other side of the map without pressing on the minimap. Because when i press for example 1 i only target the unit but the camera remains in the same place. So which keys do i need to press down? Thx :D
@KingDork Try just dragging the map file to your SC2 shortcut. If that doesn't work, open the map in the Map Editor and hit the "Test Document" button on the right side of the toolbar.
@hej100 If you shift-queue the probe he takes a moment to "land" in the stop where you queued, and THEN continues on in a new direction. That momentary pause can sometimes get the probe killed, so it's better to just manually move him around and help him take corners smoother as well. Give the map a try--it's really good practice.
@Greeb17 I was a mid-diamond Terran player, but I'll be starting the beta again as random. My videos right now are obviously NOT for diamond level players--more like silver and below. Although I do plan on making more advanced videos in the future, right now my goal is to help new players reach the platinum and diamond leagues. If you are already that level of player, I can't see you gaining anything from this to be honest.
I find that if you're not yet fast with your hands, a good way to keep your initial scout alive inside the enemy base is to shift-PATROL a circle around the inside of their base.
isn't it quicker, at the end of the video, to just shift command you drone around instead of micro-ing it? or is it just good to practice micro-ing with that

I am not sure I can find an easy way to load this trainer you mention. How do we load it?

@KingDork Try just dragging the map file to your SC2 shortcut. If that doesn't work, open the map in the Map Editor and hit the "Test Document" button on the right side of the toolbar.

at 7:40 why dont you use shift?
hej100 1 year ago
@hej100 If you shift-queue the probe he takes a moment to "land" in the stop where you queued, and THEN continues on in a new direction. That momentary pause can sometimes get the probe killed, so it's better to just manually move him around and help him take corners smoother as well. Give the map a try--it's really good practice.

What level player were you? Post diamond league.
Greeb17 1 year ago
@Greeb17 I was a mid-diamond Terran player, but I'll be starting the beta again as random. My videos right now are obviously NOT for diamond level players--more like silver and below. Although I do plan on making more advanced videos in the future, right now my goal is to help new players reach the platinum and diamond leagues. If you are already that level of player, I can't see you gaining anything from this to be honest.

I find that if you're not yet fast with your hands, a good way to keep your initial scout alive inside the enemy base is to shift-PATROL a circle around the inside of their base.

@DepopsAU Very good point--I actually meant to point this out, but I forgot! I'm gonna add an annotation for just that. Thanks for the reminder.
