  • I was all about Bodysnatchers/Weird Fishes/Jigsaw when I first bought the album.. Unlike the aforementioned songs, the intro to this one didn't initially catch my ears and I'd always skip this song after 10 seconds into it.

It wasn't until the night I had a really ugly argument with my girl and was sort of let the album roll while driving aimlessly on the motorway that I first heard this song drifting into the bridge and hit me with the most beautiful 60 seconds of music in the album.. Ace!

  • @blueslabel cool way of finding a song. There have been many times I would skip song on an album and then actually LISTEN to them all the way through and they ended up being my favorites :-) Thanks for sharing your experience with this lovely song.

  • 666!!!!\m/

  • Just Googled this show and this came up. I was at this show, it was a beauty!

  • Fuuuck I wanna see Radiohead soo bad!!!

  • You luckyy fuck!!! I'll be there on their next tour for sure. They're recording a new album this winter.

  • It's all Radiohead and it's all great.

  • i was there

  • amazing

  • Cool guitar part Ed...where did that go?

  • this song make me realise how to appreciate life and your love ones

  • Peace brothers and sisters!!!!!!!

  • Ill never forget the first time i watched this vid, waaay before in rainbows came, its fuckin amazing, this version is so raw and emotional, cant get enough

  • A lot of american love Muse as well.

A lot of americans voted for Bush, too.

  • hey man dont generalize about them. for every american who likes rap theres an equal number who completely hate it

  • This version of the song is better than the album..I'm a little biased because I saw this one way before the album came out...fantastic..so emotional...RADIOHEAD RULES!!!

  • i agree

  • sounds like you read my thoughts =)

  • 3:05

The fuck is that guy doing? Hes not facing the right way!

  • that's the security guard.

  • the lyrics are a bit different then from the album version

  • Incredible.

  • the last part really makes me feel complete. it is so so brilliant. full of feelings. it so sad that americans cant appreciate the band standing in front of their eyes...

  • what the hell are you talking about? That statement makes you sound so ignorant, especially after writing (what I thought) was something somewhat intelligent...It is so sad that you feel that you can judge an entire country of over 300 Million people. That alone proves that morons live everywhere

  • Im American and i love Radiohead. Richard D. James is from Ireland and he hates Radiohead AND he influenced them. What now

  • Richard David James was born to Welsh parents Lorna and Derek James in St. Munchins Limerick Regional Maternity Hospital, Ireland. James grew up in Lanner, Cornwall, United Kingdom;

    He's from England !

  • Hey Englishman, I know a boatload of US people who love Radiohead (including me). And what's up with people from the UK loving every band that comes out of it? For Example, Muse is only loved in the UK for a reason. THEY SUCK!

  • Oh sorry.. Havent seen the other comments yet, so I didnt know that. Im not the "rip-off" type. Really.

  • for a sec, I thought this is all i needed.

    Just this song.

  • mamma mia!

  • haha it does!

  • This was the show after Bonnaroo (which I was lucky enough to attend). Certainly an amazing song. I can't wait to see it live!

  • very pleased with In Rainbows, an amazing album, one of the best i own, This being one of my favorite songs on there

  • ya well thom is a pretty strange guy but hes a genious

  • best song ever.

    ....well almost lol

  • well... this is my favorite disk... for life

  • this is one the greatest songs ever

  • your life has to move on, my friend...

  • lol

  • you need to move on buddy

  • what are you talking about captainkidding?!! on the disc sounds just as great as live.

  • well, thats just my opinion. if you like, then enjoy, you know ;)

to me it just doesnt sound as passionate like here. its drums, i think.

  • this song is soooo much better live than on the disc :( its the only disappointment on the album for me

  • weird, it's probably my favorite track on the new album. different strokes!

  • oh man, i remember hearing this song the very first time, the drum beat in the beginning made me think that thom was about to start rapping.

  • i'm glad i wasn't there...i think i would've collasped on the floor, overwhelmed, traumatized by the fact that nothing in my life would ever come close to hearing this

  • i can t belive this song is true!!!

Love song with o lot of passion...

Cry song with a lot of sense...

Dreaming song with a lot of visions...

  • Well put

  • *Thom Yorke just said this on an Xfm interview

  • thanks for mentioning this! just listened to the interview- very cool. someone should tell them that I recorded it on a digital camera, and not a cellphone.

  • i'm sure it plays to thom's personality to say that they used something as lo-fi as a cell phone video to aid the recording process - cool stuff.

  • Wow! Radiohead used this exact video as a reference in the recording process of All I Need! Youtubers have a purpose!

  • love this song, Radiohead is all i need ...

  • I was here with my girlfriend. It was absolutley amazing. I cannaot even bring teh events back to life.

  • i dunno i really love this version. the studio version still hasnt grown on me. i dont like it at all, actually. my favourites on in rainbows are bodysnatchers and reckoner. anyway, hands down, best band of these days =) hooray radiohead

  • They don't sound that different at all... the album one is just cleaner. You can't get nitpicky with live versions vs album recordings, because the point of playing a song live is to fool around and experiment, while recording for an album has to be definitive and perfect.

  • What an unbelievable band they are, thanks for posting this! Their new album is out of this world.

  • so Thom Yorke referred to this video in a New York Times interview that came out today. that's pretty awesome.

  • That makes me happy for you, just because it's Thom Yorke.

    I commend you.

  • Aw cool what did he say about it .. cool to know Thoms clicked on your video

  • In Rainbows is the album of the year hands down. Perhaps the album of the decade.

    Radiohead's brilliance is simply freaky.

    Thanks for the music guys.

  • radiohead music is always emotional, yet this song seems to put everything you feel about someone and transcends it..thanks rh

  • I dont understand how ppl cant at least like Radiohead a little bit. I like many other bands, but i would still by far consider Radiohead one of the greatest bands in the history of music. Everything they do is beyond genius and simply awe-inspiring. Theyre so talented that their music is something you just can't appreciate in words.

  • If I'm driving in my car, and I hit the climax of this song, volume turned up... everything is right in the world again

  • i hear ya man... when that part hits i kind of fade out for a while... nothing else is really going on except that hahah... radiohead has special power

  • I'm a girl, but yeah... lol... this album is epic. Radiohead is a full-body listening experience. I actually like that Thom's vocals are often difficult to understand because the music itself is so emotionally charged that sometimes lyrics would overwhelm and interfere.

  • Ah yeah, driving at dusk

  • You take the words right outta me. I think I've f*cked up a number of discs, constantly repeating the climax of the song while I'm driving. I just can't dissolve the need to hear it. So f*cking beautiful!

  • @orangetruckbed auto goosebumps at that part every time

  • @FatherofMan25 I already know, no doubt!

  • My personal favorites are arpeggie and videotape

  • My faves are probably bodysnatchers, all i need, and videotape. Oh, and 15 step. Wait, I can't leave out Jigsaw. Or Nude. You know what, fuck it, the whole album is incredible. You know an album is special when everybody has a different favorite song.

  • Dude, it's radiohead, the best band to ever gaze the planet.

  • My God... Someone make the goosebumps go away.

  • it physically hurts...

    I love them all

  • he is the act, i can never be the act, fake god bless your flesh throat thom... i wont ever see people listening to me - bryan n

  • Interesting that they changed a few of the lyrics...namely "Im a flash flood flowing through your ground floor" to the "animal trapped in your hot car" line. Both great lines but very different. Also the line about sticking w/ you only because there are no others was originally reversed. Subtle but definitely changes the meaning/tone of the song.

  • Love this song, sounds like something u would hear in an old John Carpenter film.

  • Fernandes Native Pro!

  • i can listen to this over and over

  • best song on In Rainbows. The end is incredible.

  • One of my favorite tracks on "In Rainbows", for sure.

  • love this song, it's a drag i tried for days to get into this show with no success. Oh well, good news there touring in spring(f@#% yeah!)

  • beautiful and haunting...

  • radiohead rule!!

  • that sounds very Gary Numan-ish...

  • I looooooooooove this song!

  • I have to say

this is the most powerful song on the album

    I listen to it everyday

  • youre an idiot.

  • dude seriously. just let them write whatever they want to write, it's worked for them pretty good so far. Why do you always have to compare? if it isn't another radiohead album then it's bruce sprinsteen or something (?) Just leave the band alone man.

  • who cares how it works for them? I buy their shit and spend fucking years listening to it, am I not allowed or supposed to analyse and dissect it to my heart's content? arguing and bullshitting about bands, radiohead especially, is fun. no?

  • it'd be fun for me to cum in your ear

  • And I suppose you would prefer Panic! at the Disco, or something dumb like that.

  • something like that

  • this is my favorite song on the new album ...without a doubt. ahh love it

  • defiantly best song on new album with out qeustion

  • kewl, were u there? i mean is this ur recording?

  • prob my fav song on new album

  • Also, I believe it's I'm the next ACT.. Not next step. Either way, this song and this band are better than words can even describe. The site was down when I tried to get the album, so I had to resort to Torrents.. but I went back and gave them $20. I agree with the comment about this band being too good to be human ha.

  • Ibexr88, the lyrics often quoted online are incorrect on this song just as they were with "we're fishes" from Arpeggi...the correct lyric is "lyin' in the reeds", not "leaves".

"I'm in the middle of your picture/ lyin' in the reeds"

Also, the end is saying "the sun! the sun! the sunnnnn!", which people are just now starting to realize.

  • Radiohead is what humanity is all about, they are incredible

  • They are to good to be human

  • wow, this ended up being the highlight of the album for me. that climax at the end was everything I had hoped for. I'm incredibly honored to have witnessed its live debut and then share it with everyone here!

  • Thanks mattman. I support Radiohead fully and will buy the CD when it comes out.

  • i dont know, i dont like the studio version THAT much...yet.

somehow i prefer the live version.

  • Haunting ôô

  • the studio version is ridiculously emotional... made me fucking bawl my eyes out...

  • new album's out

    new album's out

    new album's out

  • Radiohead, simply Amazing... only one day more!!

  • this is so beautiful. im going to cry when i hear the studio version of the end of this song. the buildup is just... awesome.

  • i'm gonna bite my face off waiting for next wednesday.

  • i love the ending :)(and the whole song)

  • im most excited for this song. i mean, i originally was really excited to hear the studio version of videotape, but then i heard the sample that nigel posted of this song at the end on dead air space. and i was like "thats beautiful" even though it was a 5 second clip.

i am so so so so so so so excited.

  • amazing.

  • In Rainbows DISCOBOX!!! :)

    40 Pounds

    57 Euro

    or 80 ( :D ) US Dollars.

    dowload price: as you want.

  • Not only in the discbox, also on the downloadable album.

  • no pyramid song or idioteque?! have you heard arpeggi...it's amazing! the whole band version and the thom and johnny versions both are superb...and 15 step is also par with the likes of idioteque, and the same goes for down is the new up

  • That was awesome

  • i was there!!! this song is amazing!!

  • Damn you!! Seeing Radiohead is my dying wish! I practically shot myself after I found out this show was sold out. Ah beautiful theater though.

  • Yea... I was there, and it was pretty epic when he played this song... seemed like everyone in the auditorium was dead silent and motionless the entire song.

  • I'm liking the atmosphere more than HTTT. However, there don't seem to be as man 'big' moments in the new stuff. There isn't a Pyramid Song, a There There, or an Idioteque. It sounds like it'll be their most consistant album since OK Computer, though. More sexy, like Bjork or Massive attack.

  • @ tomsega

there're plenty of big moments in the new stuff. i mean, what about Videotape and Arpeggi...are you fucking kidding me? those two are superb, def on par with Radiohead's best like Pyramid Song, How To Disappear Completely, etc. besides, you haven't even heard the new album yet, and you're already passing the verdict. fucking ridiculous.

  • I'm not so sure if I'd agree if those tracks are on par with the best stuff from Amnesiac and Kid A, thats open to debate.

But hey, chill out! We're all radiohead fans, I'm just voicing an opinion.

  • "i'm not sure, open to debate, blah blah blah"...i'll repeat: you haven't heard the studio recordings of those songs yet, and you're already voicing your opinion on them.

  • "There don't *seem* to be as many big moments", "It *sounds like* it'll be there most consistant album yet".

If I'm not allowed to say something like that I don't know what. Voicing an opinion, yes. Arriving at a conclusion -or dismissing the new album- no.

  • I wouldn't go so far as to say all their stuff is good... but a huge % is and I'm a diehard fan for life.

  • its actually "Lying in the reeds" not leaves :)

  • Radiohead is all I need!!!

  • Not one of the best new songs ive heard.. Videotape arppegi and even 4 min warning are better... im kinda wondering where are the fast pace songs? Bangers and mash? I hope theyre holding back a national anthem or something.

  • There's open pick. Oh, and bodysnatchers too. Anyway, I think that this song is really good. I like all their new stuff. can't wait for the new album.

  • Doesn't the whole feel/melody/structure of the song remind you of Sigur Ros? Or is it just me? Nice though, very calming!

  • Yeah, thats what i thought when i first heard this song. You can hear the xylophone being used and an E-Bow guitar coming into the second verse. Its a bit of a trademark used by Sigur Ros.

I think Yorke once said that Sigur Ros was his favourite band

  • it was invented long before sigur ros

  • Of course, bands like Led Zeppelin and so on. But i do believe the reason why Radiohead is using it now is because they have been listening to Sigur Ros.

  • probably, although they have been using it in older songs

  • i didn't like this song the first time i heard it, but listening to it again makes me love it. whenever they decide to disband is when my life takes a turn for the worst

  • Not too great, will probably be their worst album. I've loved all of their 6 albums to date, and consider myself to be a diehard fan after 12 years of loving them. But this is just lazy stuff, worse than most of their b-sides. They shouldn't release another album till they have excellent material.

  • wow! there has got to be something wrong with your ears! as far as I'm concerned, if you put the bends, ok comp and kid a in a blender, then something godly will be the result... or what I like to call, LP7.

  • Completely wholeheartedly disagree. If you somehow liked Hail to the Thief which you apparantly seem to if you liked "all 6 to date," than I have a hard time imagining you not liking the new material. The new material sounds to me like an interesting HTTT that doesnt drag and become as boring to listen to. And personally, I think that LP7, if recorded properly, could easily be in their top half of albums. Videotape, All I Need, Arpeggi, 15 Step, 4 Minute Warning, Open Pick.....
