I have had great success using a single Viton rubber o-ring on the piston. my bar-stock engines are run under a load until water boils off the head on a regular basis and have yet to replace one other than to replace to check it. C.I. rings are about 5 bucks and an o-ring is about $0.79. While the C.I. rings were in the mail I read postings about o-rings on the Home Shop Machinists website and decided to try them and haven't turned back. Nice running engine. Thanks for posting. Later, Rick.

What kind of fuel are you using. I built the same engine but cannot keep it running.
Lantern fuel is all it seems to like.
