  • Amazingly well put together. It's all very true to the classic "Star Trek" show.

  • superb!!

  • Fantastic! Please do anyothers!

  • You Edit shots WAY Too quickly. Trek isnt about speed, unless in battles, trek is about the beauty of the ship and space around it. Learn to Extend the shots If anything, find and editor to make a better job of this, nice try though

  • @TempestFeir This is better than your khitmor battle though. also no continuity between shots.

  • WOW!!!!

  • Nice work! Especially the lighting.

  • what episode is this?

  • This sucks.

  • brilliant, now all u need to do is insert in the episodes.

  • Nice video, but please remove the name from the bottom left corner. It takes away from the video.

  • @lanier2k5 The name is there for a reason...

  • @CJCA915

Doesn't take well to criticism: Check. (Taking down the ratings option.)

Taking things way too seriously: Check. (Name in the corner.)

Yes, doctor, we're dealing with a trekkie.

  • @tspyro35 On the contrary, the ratings have been disabled for the longest time... secondly, I think I've explained many times before, why there is a name... it's to keep people from uploading and claiming it as theirs.

  • @CJCA915 If I did all that work, I'd slap my name across it aswell, nothing wrong with protecting your hard work! :)

  • @tspyro35 ...Yeah, because ALL Trekkies are bad shitheads, at least according to people like you, who sound like they're the kind who don't discern between "good Trekkies" and "bad Trekkies."

  • The captain of the bird of prey was an idiot.....

  • ...nicely done too bad those BIG LETTERS on the video is very distracting...

  • Sweet

  • I'm just floored. To think we live in a world where you don't wok at a film studio is madness. Wow! Just incredible pro work. Perfect lens flare.

  • Nice! Very fun to watch. Really enjoyed the explosion at the end with the little shock wave :)

  • @bcwood16 little?

  • @tnhl77 Ok, so maybe bad choice of words lol! I enjoyed the rather large shock wave :p

  • @bcwood16 no you remember the movie were captain picard call the defiant little?

  • @tnhl77 oh yes lol now I get it :)

  • @tnhl77 Just nitpicking, I guess, but it went something more like:

    Worf: The Defiant?

    Picard: Adrift, but salvageable.

    Riker: Tough little ship.

    Worf (bristling): Little?

    Riker said it, not Picard.

  • @CokeBearCA ah your right!

  • cool

  • Please, take your name off the screen! Why the BIG letters?

  • @lestef23 To avoid it being stolen and claimed by someone else...

  • @CJCA915 No offense, but who would even consider stealing this?

  • @c0p13dn4m3 I've seen people...

  • Fantastic work! Very enjoyable. Love the 'rainbow' warp field....

  • Excellent! Nice compliment to TOS. I think the blue compliments TOS while acknowledging the special effects style in film versions. That photon sound...that was my favorite effects sound as a kid. Borrowed from G. Pal's "War o' Worlds." Come to think of it...the energy scanner sound was from the same movie (the hiss-n-rattle sound when the Martians scan/search). Keep it up.

  • @kingsnake1a By 'War o' Worlds' you mean 'War of the Worlds'?

The only version I find of that movie wise is from 2005... was there a movie made prior to the 60s?

  • So, did War of the Worlds use sounds effects from TOS, or TOS used some of the sound effects from War of the Worlds?

  • I suppose the studio that owned the rights to the WoW sounds used them for Star Trek. Also: the Martian's green blaster from WoW is the same sound as the photon torpedo used in TOS.

  • @CJCA915

There was a movie from 1953

search 1953 War of the Worlds for the Trailer

  • @Toghar ah, ok.

Yea, I've even seen SpongeBob SquarePants use some of these sound effects... so I guess they're licensed by another company...

  • @CJCA915 Yes, 1954 (I think). I believe it won an Oscar for best special effects. Anyway, in the episode "Elaan of Troyius," Spock has a hand-held energy scanner that makes that "hissing rattle" sound (from War of the Worlds) when he scans the queen's necklace. I just finished watching that episode, I'm stuck in a snow storm, off work, and have been on a Star Trek "bender" this morning.

  • Nice, especially the Enterprise at warp with the 'rainbow' star effect.

  • Nice job.

  • wowsers - nice work

  • Oh, like someone mentioned earlier, the Romulan bird of prey is way cool!

  • Nicely done, comments from so-called 'educated' editors with unverified credentials notwithstanding. ;)

In my opinion, the ring might have had more dramatic effect if it were horizontal, since that would have lined up with the Enterprise, but that's minor. Something bothers me though; why are there no explosions when the Enterprise's torpedoes impact the Romulan ship initially? Also, why choose the TNG style torpedo as opposed to the original orange blob?

  • @millenniumf1138 haha.

Sort of like impacting shields those close hull shields like in Enterprise and Nemesis.

This is before I really perfected my TOS style Romulan weapons...

  • Comment removed

  • @Mogasvideo lol, you're trying to tell me how I set up my scenes, when I know very well how I set them up and rendered them... I couldn't care less about a class, just because the camera angle suggests something, doesn't mean it's so...

  • Comment removed

  • @Mogasvideo The Romulan vessel was firing directly at the Enterprise...

The ring is supposed to be a visible shockwave... of dust, etc. it's supposed to be more dramatic... same with sounds in space... even the movie Apollo 13 had sound in space, for dramatic effect.

  • Comment removed

  • The Romulan ship has no impulse engine.

  • @CmdrGendoIkari It didn't in this era, at least visible, I speculate it was part of the warp drive housing, maybe... not sure.

  • @CJCA915 The Romulan Bird-of-Prey from this era didn't have any warp drive at all, just impulse engines. Re-watch "Balance of Terror" for more details!

  • @PromusKaa oh, yea, well, then what would be warp nacelles are prolly their impulse engines...

  • @CJCA915 That's right! :) The "warp nacelles" on the TOS Klingon D-7 weren't actually warp nacelles either, they were weapons pods (where the ship fired from). The hole in the front of the Klingon D-7 wasn't a torpedo launcher, either, it was a sensor dish (like the sensor dish - NOT deflector dish - on the front of the Enterprise). There's a lot of things people get wrong with TOS ships...

  • @CJCA915 - Although it's been years since I watched any TOS, I don't recall them having one either. You did a good job overall. Don't mind my goofy minor tech detail comment. ;)

  • @CJCA915 TOS Romulans didn't have Warp, they actually bought it from the Klingons. Either way, nicely put together piece of film.

  • @CmdrGendoIkari The Romulan Bird-of-Prey from this era didn't have any warp drive at all, just impulse engines. Re-watch "Balance of Terror" for more details!

  • That was enjoyable! Excellent effects.

  • Good job!

    D~

  • Very Impressive!...especially the original series music at the end...TOS will always be my favorite. The Constitution Class Enterprise is the best by far in my opinion.

  • @Freds2964 Damn right. TOS got shit done.

  • wait... i thought photon torpedoes were yellow?

  • Nicely done! I'm impressed. :)

  • Yours is at least as good as CBS Digital's work. But -- it still has that CGI "cartoony" feel... Maybe less lighting and more motion blur with some film grain would overcome this problem...?

  • loved it.. great models. throw in a klingon bird or prey ands a starbase and really go to town next time :)

  • Pretty damn impressive!

  • Nice renders. The classics never go out of style.

  • Just goes to show you how Great Design never ages.

  • that is very impresive you should be working for ILM

  • The Romulin plasma weapon seems less impressive than it originally was.

  • That's so awesome. Love the CG work on the TOS Connie she looks lovely :). In a way I think Star Trek was very much ahead of it's time. The things they could do for the effects even just in the late 70's to 80's could have made such a difference. I remember looking at the original TOS episodes with the shaking models etc and now with the remastered versions it looks so sweet :).

  • Very nice! I love the Romulan ship! :)

  • Wow, nicely done!!

  • The only complaint I have is the same one I have with all modern ST stuff, the Photon Torpedoes are 64 megatons worth of blast!, not those little firecracker hits, otherwise, nice.

  • @mrthebillman From my understanding, the torpedoes can have a varying explosive yield.

  • @CJCA915 The torpedoes carry one gram of antimatter, which yields 64 megatons. Why would you turn it down in a fight? Kirk used to fire his torpedoes, go have lunch, sleep with a yeoman, then shield his eyes when it finally detonated. It would be nice if you Cranked It Up! Good work though.

  • @CJCA915

Yeah, they mentioned on Star Trek Enterprise that they could vary the explosive yield, the most powerful capable of creating a crater 2 miles wide (I think, my memory is a little fuzzy on that).

  • @mrthebillman

Explosive weapons do not work in space the same way they work in an atmosphere. "64 megatons worth of blast" would never produce an actual blast. An explosive device, whether it be chemical, nuclear, or antimatter, would only produce a pinpoint of destructively bright light and dust from its physical casing. No fireball or shock wave. The only way such a weapon can hurt the other vessel would be to instantly heat up the hull so its hull failed.

  • @PyreVulpimorph Actually, they have already detonated nuclear weapons in space.

You wouldn't want to be anywhere near! The plasma ball is Awesome!

  • @mrthebillman

We've detonated nuclear weapons in very high atmosphere, but not in empty space.

There is simply not enough physical material in the warhead itself to make a fireball. In space, there would only be a bright, instantaneous flash of energy and nothing more.

If you have video disproving this, I'd like to see it.

    "Pix, or it didn't happen."

  • @PyreVulpimorph Most of them have taken place above altitudes of 30 kilometers or 18.6 miles, still inside the Earth's atmosphere.

The highest a nuclear explosion that has taken place was at 335.5 miles... or 539.9 kilometers.

An altitude of 75 miles is where atmospheric effects become noticeable during atmospheric reentry of spacecraft.

The Kármán line, at 62 miles is often regarded as the boundary between atmosphere and outer space.

  • @CJCA915

    Hmm.

According to Wikipedia, the detonation at 540km was still considered a High Altitude Nuclear Explosion.

  • @PyreVulpimorph What the hell are you crying about?

  • @mrthebillman

    Your original complaint was wrong.

I pointed out why it was wrong.

    You get mad.

    ????

    Profit.

    *snirk* Crying...

    *waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah*

  • @PyreVulpimorph No trolling on my channel...

  • @CJCA915

    Sorry.

  • @PyreVulpimorph What the hell are you crying about?

Go stand next to that much energy release, whether in space or not pinhead, or did you think space was empty?

  • @mrthebillman

You apparently can't read what I actually posted.

I never stated such a weapon would be harmless. The radiant electromagnetic energy (ie, light) would fry everything not outside minimum safe distance. Of course I wouldn't want to be anywhere near. My ONLY point was that there would be no visible fireball. And yes, for all intents and purposes, SPACE IS EMPTY.

But apparently, you're only comebacks are swearing and name-calling. Good day.

  • This is very good can't wait to see more of your stuff

  • OK wat software are you using to create this because i want to start somethiink aswell

  • @pal8383 3ds max

  • @pal8383 3ds max is really expensive try out blender -- its free and its a really good program

  • wich game is this from it looks crazy private message me thanks

  • @pal8383 It's not from a game... it's a CG animation created by me.

  • This is really good. Good old classic design meets present day special effects. The Praxis Wave was a bit much though.

  • I love the sound effects and music, particularly when the Enterprise goes to warp.

  • very well done and one of best warp starfields so far

  • What's with the TNG Romulan torpedoes? Would of been cooler to see a classic plasma torpedo. Explosions/damage would of added alot to this also.

  • @stevelatinner would have

  • nice, but the ships look to "model-ish" Give the hull some steel plating, some imperfections. They look to much like plastic models.

  • @Mad4jazzy It does have plating, it's just not as visible on this Enterprise as it is on the refit, etc.

  • infornatly better than the fucking 09 movie!!!! fuck you JJ!!!!!!

  • I wonder why the Romulans wouldn't attack from behind. The Enterprise doesn't seem as well protected from that angle. *sigh* Romulans; headstrong and arrogant.

  • @Powershade117 Well, the Constitution class does have rear phasers, they were just never used much in the series, I should of made use of them in this...

  • Doesn't anyone ever light up the other parts of the warp nacelles like the grills on the insides facing each other and the domes in the back?

  • @MasterJediKyleKatarn The warp nacelles on the original Enterprise don't light up on the inside, or the back... only the domes on the front lit up... people have made variations based around a similar design as the original Enterprise, but that's it...

  • @CJCA915 Yeah I know they don't but they should. They do in ST Legacy though.

  • @MasterJediKyleKatarn Star Trek Legacy has a lot of incorrect colors, etc... and in reality, no they shouldn't... they don't glow on this class of ship.

  • @CJCA915 Tell that to the people who "loved" the 2009 movie they all wanted a fully lighted ship.

  • @MasterJediKyleKatarn Well, the 2009 movie is an alternate reality, it's not in the same reality as it were as the original Trek...

  • @CJCA915 Paramount is hell bent on replacing the original with the alternate reality. Have you noticed all "1701" merchandise is the Enterprise from the 2009 movie?

  • @MasterJediKyleKatarn From what I hear the next movie isn't gonna be like the 2009 movie...

  • @CJCA915 I saw bits and pieces of the "Star Trek Ongoing" comic and they clearly did "Where no man has gone before" set in the alternate universe. I still don't buy that everyone likes the alternate universe over the original show.

  • @CJCA915 You mean they're going to get an actual writer, a story with no gapig holes? Maybe a science advisor?

  • @VinnyMonster1 I'm not sure, all I know is that JJ Abrams said it's not going to be like the last movie.

  • @CJCA915 Well, let's hope he does an at least halfway decent job this time. I know he wants to make his own mark on the franchise, but he should be able to do that with story arcs and plot. Not by trying to turn it into a modern angst ridden Battlestar Glactica 2000 clone.

  • Nicely done. Love the attention to detail

  • I enjoyed your video. I've played Starfleet Battles since the 80's and it's always nice to see a 'real life' battle that relates well to the game. Well done! :)

  • Wow, you nailed the way these ships move. Slow and calculated. I'm very impressed

  • NICELY DONE and as an original trekkie, the remake was good, my opinion

  • great video way better than that piece of shit movie that jj abrams put out.

  • @SpockBorg5 Grow up.

  • Excellently done! It almost looked like a clip from TOS. Thanks for uploading.

  • Not very realistic. There is no sound in space.

  • @pat1981lux Thanks for stating the obvious... and that's not the point... sound in scifi is for dramatic effect... even Apollo 13, a based on true story movie, had sound in it for petes sake... for dramatic effect.

  • @pat1981lux A common misconception. There isn't sound in the vacuum of space, but there is everywhere else. (Inside of a ship, for example)

  • @pat1981lux Thank you Mr. Obvious for clearing that up for everybody.

  • @pat1981lux There isn't music in space either strangely enough.

  • @pat1981lux The dumbest thing ever said on Youtube.

  • @TheChrisManChan Yea, yet they favorited my video, lol.

  • Wow...those were some very nice looking ships. Well done on the VFX too. :)

  • It's always good to see Starfleet actually win a fight.

  • AWESOME!!!!!

  • Awesome video!

  • Well Done

  • Really enjoyed the choreography.

  • Dude, this is excellent!

  • I am involved with a large production value Star Trek TOS fan film. We have started the production to honor the 25th anniversary of the original Star Trek series. We desperately need volunteers for our post production and Visual Effects team.

I was looking around at some of the people who have been doing Star Trek work, and your videos caught my eye. If you have some free time to donate to the project, we would love to work with you.

  • @rayimber What is the name of the fan film?

  • @CJCA915 Sorry about that. The youtube comment box made me remove the link for our website, and I didn't realize it. The project is called Star Trek: Secret Voyage. It should come up as the first one on Google. Check it out and let me know what you think. :-)

  • @rayimber Interesting.

Well, first and foremost I use 3ds Max...

  • @CJCA915 Yeah, That is one of the things that caught my eye about your work. I was recently brought on as the vfx supervisor for the film, and I also use Max. I am trying to put a team together, and when I saw that you used Max, I thought you would be a great candidate. Could you shoot me an email at rayimber@gmail.com?

  • @rayimber Sent.

  • @rayimber I do have a question, I was watching your video on your homepage, and I noticed the Enterprise as it passes into Earth orbit... you do have permission to use that clip right?

  • @CJCA915 Yeah. Our producer got the rights to use a lot of materials, as long as it is not for profit.

  • @rayimber Cuz, I know the guy who made that video... and I was just making sure.

  • @CJCA915 That is interesting. I was just brought on recently. The producer had a 3D guy originally, but lost him. I wonder if that is the same guy.

  • This is a masterpiece! Amazing! I was blown away...you are an epic talent!

  • Very well done.

  • Nicely lit and textured! Lightwave, Maya or Max? Watch my film!

  • @Straitjacket2007 The model was originally created in TrueSpace, I believe, however here, it's been converted to Max.

  • Nice but the War Bird Bussard collectors aren't glowing or lit? just an over site I hope.

(A light radioactive green would have added a nice touch.)

  • @racefan32 They never have glowed...

  • @CJCA915 I thought they were at least colored orange, like the Enterprise's.

  • @sybercat6 No, they were solid, and didn't light up.

    tos.trekcore . com/gallery/albums/1x14/balanceofterror105.jpg

If you can't get to it, since TrekCore seems to like to intermittently disable hot-linking... I can upload the image elsewhere.

  • @CJCA915 searching around, you are right. I remembered wrong because the material at the tips seems brighter than the rest of the ship and more reflective.

  • I liked it. At around a minute in, there were several scenes in a row where the Enterprise just flew past the camera, which was a bit dull, but the actual combat was smoothly animated and done well.

  • Awesome work. Completely superior to the Remastered project in every way!

  • Nice vid, not accurate at all. A cloaked warbird could easily destroy 1701

  • @bo0tsy1 A cloaked warbird can't fire while cloaked, and if you'd seen the episode "Balance of Terror" you'd clearly see the USS Enterprise badly damage the Romulan warbird...

  • @CJCA915 You should have used the original trek episode music.

  • @FishfilmInc I don't have TOS music that would really fit this video... I need to find me some more TOS soundtracks.

  • @CJCA915 I have the complete scores to all of them, they are not all officcially released, though I have a DVD rip edit (very Minor effects.) with everything.

  • @CJCA915 I could send them to you (If you disable the friend lock to your PMs)

  • @bo0tsy1 Also, the romulan cloak back then wasn't complete.

  • @bo0tsy1 It's called a "Bird of Prey", not a "warbird". Romulan Birds of Prey of the original series era couldn't fire while cloaked and as has been already pointed out the Enterprise can survive a battle with them as evidenced by the episode "Balance of Terror". In that sense at least the "vid" was "accurate".

I agree with the rest of your post, though.

  • @SurlyInsomniac I was so about to point out that it was a Bird of Prey. Thanks for doing my job. :P

  • Its a little weird at 0:38 when it looks like the ship is heading towards a sun and then when the camera turns around we can see that the light that was reflecting off the ship was coming from nowhere.

  • @kilburn786 Often times in Trek... could be just off frame...

  • @CJCA915 Great work. My take on the standard ordinance torpedoes is that the immensly powerful plasma bolts took too much energy from other systems so they scrappped them and used the power towards propulsion and shields. Considering that they only had impulse drive when they first met in "Balance Of Terror."
