One of the best rock songs ever written. I was raised a Christian and now no longer Christian. Whiteheart are one of the very few Christian artists that I think were up there with the best of the secular music industry (along with Iona). This was easily their best song and easily their best album; pretty much every single song is brilliant. :)
@JasonLewisSmith1979 I do believe that is the legendary Tommy Simms on bass, there, so yeah. It IS distinctive. Oh, and Gordon Kennedy doing the lead guitar at the end
Commercial viability is the key to getting radio airplay. Then again, if you really wanna reach a "niche" audience, satellite radio is the perfect host. There's also Internet radio but there's not that much demand for internet radio. There is a market for internet radio, but it's not as large as satellite radio. So really, the only obstacle then is getting the money to pay for airtime on satellite radio. OR, you could always go to YouTube. Hey, there's a thought.
I remember dancing to these songs as a little kid, it feels indescribable to listen to these songs again after thinking I would never find them, THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE UPLOAD!
there is places you can go to listen to this type of music. i have an account with this online place called live365. but i do agree they need to bring back this type of music
What a strange, beautiful album this was. The chops of Rush and Yes, the groove of Living Color, the ambience of U2. The spirituality of the writing and vocal performances so direct, earnest, believable. There's real emotion here, real conviction and substance, which is so much more than you can say for so many CCM records of the time, even (sometimes especially) Whiteheart's own. Still conjures emotions for me that no other record really does.
WH as well as many other CCM bands of it's day really had a hard row to hoe. Many recieved ridicule from the "scribe and pharisee" religious tight-collars, Hence Steve Green's exit from WH after the first album. I commend WH for being true to their music as well as true to Christ, despite the ridicule.
@russellperry Dude...You've described this album to a tee! Perfect. My band opened for them in 93...It was a great show. Great guys, they were for real. Chris Mchugh tracked some drums on a demo of ours in 2000. I'm glad to see how well you know GOOD music! God bless.
Whiteheart had a the rare ability to take their understanding of Bible teaching, weave it into pure artistry, and deliver it with amazing power and skill. They were a rare combination of Christians that inspired an entire generation.
Would someone in the CCM radio industry start a classic CCM radio network!!! This era of music must continue to be shared to the present generation. The passion of artistry and ministry that White Heart & the like possessed can't just fade away into history. One of WH's best songs period. I thought "fashion fades" was some of WH's best guitar work, until this song. Gordon Kennedy is stupid/ crazy talent!!! This album had the best ensemble of musicians assembled bar none! WH is still the best
Good point! I haven't listend to much ccm in the last 15 + yrs...the 80s and early 90s were great but sadly forgotten and never played on my local station..All the stuff these days is very 'plastic'....Except for the christian metal i like - which ironically are released on secular labels - eg Rob Rock, and other great bands like Theocracy, Harmony which put out great albums with great lyrics etc..
So true- much of the CCM, albeit good evangelisticily, is plastic and lacks the passion of the CCM back in the latter part of the centuries end.
The industry's method of paying artists for airplay is what i think why we don't hear these great bands continuing to play today. This is sad, because if there was a national Classic CCM station, like Air-One, this music would thrive and be profitable for both the stations & the artists. We'd even see younger listeners loving this stuff!
@scarabY2k Nobody will ever be able to convince me that there was a more talented group of musicians. Best group of the 80's and early 90's. I went to the college that Rick Florian graduated from so had several opportunities to see them on campus. I loved this music.
White Heart I saw them on this tour,as well as 2 others!I worked security with them and others in Atl.Fest."FREEDOM" is one of the greatest recordings of all times period!! A local DJ agreed with me,at a secular radio station!
One of my favs! Listened to this CD hard core when I was in college. It's truly a shame that for the most part people don't remember Christian rock like this from that era. Most people I know never knew it existed....
Best song they ever put out IMO. And they have put out some awesome songs. Probably off their best album too. Along with Tales of wonder & Powerhouse. Again...just my opinion. They, along with Petra & Idle Cure are my favs :)
This isn't the first time both Mark & Rick would sing together on this song -- they both sang a couple of songs together off "Don't Wait For The Movie," ever since their 20+ year friendship began.
Me too, 'course the same really goes for all of their songs.... I LOVE how Rick comes in on the "King of glory enter in..." very effective. What a voice....
White Heart it's one of the greatest christian bands ever, they are not well know like many of the poppy crap bands of today but their music is very powerful
man u just said pure truth. i fully agree with u. i love white heart music as well as other christian rock bands from those years: David Zaffiro, Giant, Guardian, Chris Impelliteri, Legend Seven, Mastedon, Petra, Siloam, Stryper, Whitecross, Angelica, King James, Nouveaux, Novella, The Brave...
that's what i mean, I have to say my favorites are White Heart, Petra, Stryper, Bloodgood, Whitecross, Narnia and Deliverance. I've heard some of the bands you mentioned but unfortunately some of these items are hard to find. it's a shame to see that new bands so-called christian are following emo trends like underoath. they don't explicitly proclaim their faith in their lyrics like Petra or White Heart did
@koro1984 I must say, however, that Petra was only good when Greg Volz was the singer, I think, because once he left, sure they still had good lyrics, but the way they played...it just didn't feel like they were into it. It's amazing that the original Petra guys have gotten together again as Classic Petra, today.
Tourniquet, Bride, Guardian, REZ and 77s, Petra and Whiteheart as less 'hardcore', and those were good bands, often crossovers. The harder 'thrash' bands would sometimes open for secular bands which in turn used the occult stage gimics, causing concern. Tourniquet comes to mind. But this Whiteheart song is one of their most dramatic, and almost calls for use in some dramatic 'end-of' or Armageddon scene in film.

I believe that bands with bible scriptures in their songs (Classic Petra; Petra w/ Greg as singer), are amazing...we need more like them.
