  • @iToasterman This isn't a terrible idea if your careful please learn to use spell check

  • @Ltb0b I know how to, and it is. Theres so many risks with this method! Mainly the tools being metal! There has to be a safer way

  • Jesus Christ the music is annoying. Why do people think they have to put music under their selfmade videos??? Stolen music, that is.

  • hey, do you know where i can find a battery formation schematic for the Dell XPS M1730? i lost my schematic and now do not know which battery goes where

  • I would've prefered someone talking you through what's going on, or at the very least, music that didn't sound like 20 Nintendo's being slaughtered.

At any rate, I'm planning to do something similar soon, and I do appreciate that you made the video.

  • why not just buy a new battery off eBay for $30

  • nice music

  • where did you get the replacement cells?

  • wow thank god for lithium batterys

  • What cells did you used? my ibook battery barely holds any charge and i`m considering doing this. great video.

  • ok thx for the tip- but it is so tight !

So you say there are no screws?

I mean, i tried what you said but it won't come loose, only plastic starts deforming - that's why I had to ask you... the plastic is so soft grrrr...

Thx I will try like what U said, hope it will work out

  • Can anyone (Sklarm) tell me how to open the battery - couldn't find any screws or something, all I could do is ruin plastic with my screwdriver :(

    help plz and thx

  • be patient opening the battery. Use a small flat head screw driver and slowly go around the case just opening it a little bit at a time. This can take several minutes to do well, and less than a minute to just destroy plastic.

  • Hmm, may I suggest if ANYONE is going to play with re-packing Li-Ion batt packs, they:

    1) LEARN TO SOLDER PROPERLY. (Too much heat can turn a Li-Ion cell into a grenade) When soldering cells you need to do it fast & good. High blobs of solder means too little heat used. Solder not "flowing" means not clean or needs more flux.

    2) Do not try & push the current from Li-Ion battery through self adhesive strips! You bought cells with SOLDER TABS on them.....USE THEM??!!

  • This is really interesting to watch! Especially when I&TBPSQUOm at work right now. haha cool video hope you make more in the future

  • great video - who sings that song!?

  • That was LCD Soundsystem with "Yeah (Crass Version)", probably the best artist and hardest tune on this planet. YEAH.

sklarm, thanks for the vid, but the quality of yt videos made for some blurry text. Could you overlay some yt annotations instead? Maybe also add some note annotations on what you're doing, too :) It was a little bit hard to follow when you suddenly added the side cells, didn't follow what went where. Thanks!

  • Sorry about the blurry text and lack of documentation of the process. I can post another video of a dell battery repack (which is pretty much the same thing). I have a very high quality version that i had trouble uploading to youtube.

  • Let's make 2009 the year we never buy batteries again.

  • that was too fuckin pro!

4795623 declares this vid an epic win!!!

  • awesome ,will this technique work on pc laptp batterys too?

  • Yes, this type of replacement is almost identical on most PC batteries. Especially ones that are over 2 years old.

  • cool thx im gunna try it out

  • Nice!

  • thanks alot

    perfect timing

  • fabulously revolutionary. thanks so much for doin' this!
