I beg to differ, I grew up relishing the music as I was growing up along with people like M Rafi, Michael Jackson etc. Also thought that M Rafi time's music was a lot cleaner, artistic and calming then say this song. Unlike today's majority audience.

Btw I was only like 8 years old when I heard this song, then came back to it when someone recommended it, I didn't cherish it then but appreciate it now.

I don't listen to Indian music much overall but i could never digest old sounds from Bollywood movies of the 80's and under. I think the answer is simple, i never grew up in that time period and never mixing with the culture within the era, as i was born in 1992 only consolidates that.

His contemporaries looked shit compared to him and they slimmed,trimmed looks much better now (Aamir,Sahrukh). On the other hand this one gained hale lot of weight, same hairstyle from last 10-12 years now ? Same fit pant and shirt, not even shadow of earlier Salman.

I had this song in huge Bollywood MP3 collection, and when by chance (playing in random mode) this one came up (not knowing the origin) i had to google it and ended up here. Only after that i found out that the movie DVD is still lingering in the box. Well, Lata, there are few songs where you couldn't say she's in it and while i am not her biggest fan, i am not sure of other female singers (except Shreyas Goshal's amazing job in Devdas of 2002).

The male voice here is very nice too and i like the playful, modest, non-glossy picturisation. I found a nice comment on the movie: "what could be a better stress reliever than a babyfaced Salman and a ravishing Bhagyashree surrounded by an '80s Bollywood? The answer is nothing, except maybe some chocolate...Watching Maine Pyar Kiya was like binge-eating a box of chocolate covered cherries--the bursts of syrupy sweetness just kept coming".
