QUite a slow version, but I like it, it somehow carries more weight at that speed. He was a hell of a good singer in those days.

Yeah Prof, the version on the album is incredible. I used to like the Wings Over America version but now I much prefer the album version. It's so CRISP!!!

A young man named James Durbin on American Idol sang this song on3/10/2011 and fucking blew it out a MUCH more poweful rendition than this i must see i prefer to listen to the James Durbin version i dont think i will ever hear it sang better.

@matco24 As a Bass player for 44 years and having a father that played anything with strings on it and growing up in a Pentecostal environment i would say i am not smoking dope and listening to this chit on a fucking i-pod so if you asshole have I-Tunes checkout the studio verison of Durbin and even the producers were amazed that what im talking about.

@PROFNINES1 What were you smoking at the time? I saw James perform. It was good. It was NOT, however "more powerful" or in any way the masterpiece that McCartney's version is.

no, not stoned per se, but in total deep devotion and awed by this man singing...
i was at the 1973 l.a.forum concert , stood about 20 feet up and behind sir paul
when he sang this song. it is, still to this day, the BEST song ive ever heard live,
by anyone on Earth. He is the best. In between songs, you could hear a pin drop, and we are talking the forum!! just total awe was the audience. i know.
