To be honest, I like how Adam and Kris sang the song but Adam is obviously better. And it doesn't mean Kris sucks. In fact, I liked this song because of Kris. Adam's voice is just more... high pitched... and he gives more emotion to the song while Kris sings it simply and clearly. There are parts of the song that I like how Adam sang it and other parts by Kris... like I like the way Kris sang the last words more than Adam... but I really love how Adam sang the chorus. So powerful.
Kris deserves it. maybe he got good characters than Adam.. although it's a singing contest. but maybe that helped him to win. well, that's just my opinion though :)
Poor Kris he had to compete with a superstar like Adam. Anyone next to Adam is going to pale in comparison. Adam is THE iconic superstar, something we haven't had in a loooong time since the 80s! Big kudos to Kris too. Adam, you're just amazing. I can't say that enough.

It's really bizarre to me that they wrote a song specifically for the show, intended to be a first single that doesn't cater to either of the finalists. How can they be authentic with such terribly cliche lyrics. I felt like both contestants really had to struggle with this song--Adam because terrible pop music is on the opposite side of the spectrum from what he usually sings and Kris because it was written for a key too high for him. Shouldn't you write for the finalists... not Miley Cyrus?

A good coach would teach him how to support so that he can PROJECT and find some pitch stability. Nice guy, but his singing ability is severely lacking and it has little to do with his range.

Actually that is not true. He did stand up after Kris won. The camera just wasn't as focused on Simon after the initial announcement for people to see that. Simon sat down before the other judges so it looked like he never stood up. Simon can be a dick, but he is not that classless.

This competition is not about who is the best singer. It's about who appeals most to the masses. Pop singers generally aren't great singers. It's more important to look pretty...

It's really bizarre to me that they wrote a song specifically for the show, intended to be a first single that doesn't cater to either of the finalists. How can they be authentic with such terribly cliche lyrics. I felt like both contestants really had to struggle with this song--Adam because terrible pop music is on the opposite side of the spectrum from what he usually sings and Kris because it was written for a key too high for him. Shouldn't you write for the finalists... not Miley Cyrus?

The thing is, adam is crzy good singer, but allen got the whole package, good singing, great personality, he plays piano and guitar. Hes an accomplished artist and I believe that its the main reason why he won the title.

@Fishqueen1972 no, I was too busy earning my masters degree in music performance at Yale and winning job auditions in professional orchestras to worry about a silly contest like AI. These "artists" have no idea what it's like to sit in a practice room for six hours a day and tackle a composition with six million notes by Rachmaninov, so I will exercise my right to critique them and feel more than qualified to do so. Especially when they can't even sing a simple song like this.

@Fishqueen1972 Kris's main problems are that his pitch is wobbly in all registers, even the lower notes. This is because he has no breath control or support. A good coach would teach him how to support so that he can PROJECT and find some pitch stability. Nice guy, but his singing ability is severely lacking and it has little to do with his range.

lost breath at 0:30. dont know if he missed (bend) intentionally at 1:09 by almost 1/2 and he lost emphasis on 1:12 - 1:16. maybe its fatigue. but generally, he has a very nice voice quality

Actually that is not true. He did stand up after Kris won. The camera just wasn't as focused on Simon after the initial announcement for people to see that. Simon sat down before the other judges so it looked like he never stood up. Simon can be a dick, but he is not that classless.

If you could watch the full video, you would see him stand up. He just sat down before the others so when the camera focused back on the judges, it looked like he didn't stand up. But he did when the winner was announced.

he sounded strained because the key of the song was too high for him. once they lowered the key, for the studio version (and even for when he sang it when he won) he hit the high notes fine because it was lower. it's not his fault that his voice isn't in the same range as adam's. it doesn't make him a bad singer.

wow i didnt notice kris messing up the first time i heard it. and btw adam also made a mistake in mad world. he sang "Worn out spaces" When it should be "worn out places" and "Going nowhere with their daily races. yes, kris made a mistake in a performance. is he the one and only performer to do so? no. forget what others think and only believe in your opinion. if you're happy that kris won then thats fine. if not, then there is no reason to spam boards expressing your opinion. in my opinion, i believe the top seven should all have won. they all performed amazingly and have unique voices.

Kris sings with such emotion and power, I wasn't surprised he won! I think Adam's also pretty good, because he can hit some high notes, but yah, singing's not about high notes. And although lots of ppl like it when Adam does the screaming stuff, I get kinda creeped out by it.
