For the infection forms (the little guys) I'd use the MA5B. Frag grenades are useful too. Don't waste your shotgun ammo. You'll need it for the combat forms.

The MA5B can be useful against combat forms at medium range. When a CF's body is in your reticle: fire. You'll blow off the arms. Without arms they can't hurt you. Or just use the shotgun.

Stick the Carrier forms with a plas grenade then use the shotgun immediately after.

As gamerdude295 said, watch your radar, and another thing... never stop moving, it makes it harder for them to track you. Extreme caution is needed with plasma grnades anf the flood. They charge you with one stuck to them... you better run for cover! Got myself there!
