  • Lest we never forget the needy, whatever the circumstances to their plight. Well done to the person who decided to put this on youtube, it just goes to prove there are some that care in this turbulent world.

  • "Streets Of London" - opening shot Leeds Station (?). Explain.

  • I remember SIRIUS XM's "The Bridge" used to play this song a few years back

  • I was homeless for four years, and at this time of year I thank God that I am not on the streets. I remember my friends at this time who died of homeless related problems. God Bless you, especially Harry...RIP

  • Nicht gerade ein Gassenhauer, aber ein Lied mit sehr viel Tiefgang - sehr schöne nachdenkliche Ballade!

  • @JamesBlon1 Me too, I was studing english at school :P

  • englsh lesson in serbia <3

  • If you listen to this song, you can have a nice peaceful sleep, and then someone can turn on the Anti-Nowhere League's version and WAKE YOU THE F**K UP! haha! :D

  • This song is the best.

  • why is there a picture of 'Leeds Station' at the beguining,i thaught this song was about London? anyway good siong(y)

  • I have 3 CD's of Ralph. Believe or not, this is not an artist of just one tune.

  • This song is very beautiful and I don't want to miss it.

  • shit video. i'm guessing you're about 13?

  • why do so much germans listen to this? great song

  • @MrDikkehamster 'cause we like England :D

  • This song always reminds me how lucky i am to have a roof over my head food in my Belly hate the way society moans about trival things when they go home to electricity, food and all the trappings . homeless people would love to moan about trivial things like oh no the golfs on tv im missing eastenders ETC

  • To all of us who have all in life, let us always think of the less fortunate and help all we can for those who have next to nothing

  • @MrDesertrose11 In Germany,Baden-Württemberg.

  • Wow, Amazing with so much feeling really good thanks for ubload

    Greeetings from

    Germany

  • more to the point, at the end of the well put together pics, it says "this can't go on much longer" we send billions in aide to other countries, but neglect to think about our own people.... does NOT make sense to me?!?!

  • why is it that some people have to resort to swear words to make their points

  • i really sorry, but england for englishman only !!!

  • Love the pictures to song, :D

  • "at quarter past eleven" ... the clock says quarter past ten :P. still a great video and song

  • probably ten miles to find one fucking eastern european scroungers everywhere in good old uk ha what a fucking joke this country is

  • Beautiful song... awesome video!

  • I heard you have to walk at least ten blocks to find a white person in London, is that correct?

  • @1999521 certain parts thats true

  • thank you soo much you have made me realise how much i do have i know i live in a council house and can barely afford to go out with my mates and stuff, but at least i have something and for that i am truly grateful thank you you have made me change my ways xxx

  • Nothing could save the Streets of London today..

You couldn't even find an English person in London... utter catastrophe of the English and European peoples.

  • Hallo 10 a ;)

  • It´s wonderful !! All big Presidents in this world!! listen !!! NO WAR !!

  • It's the element of london being such a shithole that biths the spirit of it's people

  • It's been many years since Ralph wrote this song and it keeps resurfacing as many fine artists have covered it. Guess that is because the song is perenially true - which is sad.

  • wunderful ♥

  • Very good single of ralph McTell

  • To snakeeyesss11 - a sad but beautiful video for a sad but beautiful song- thanks for posting. :)

  • This song says so much !!! if only we all acted on the words of this song then there would be far less sadness or suffering for so many people in our world, if we all helped just one person each then we would all make such a positive difference for so many who suffer a daily existence...

    Terry -X-

  • Well, Mr. McTell, now I feel lonely AND guilty. But it's my own damn fault.

  • @lunasspecto You got a friend here ok my friend, try to never be lonely

  • @sxitezza Thanks, I appreciate it. I think my comment sounded more negative than I intended. I know I have friends and everything -- it's just that, because of some strange flaw in my perception, I sometimes feel alone even when I'm surrounded by caring people. And I don't think I'm the only one who has that problem.

  • ITS A ABSOLUTE DISGRACE TO SEE VETERANS AND ENGLISH PEOPLE LIVING ON STREETS IN LONDON. HOW DO IMIGRANTS GET RIGHTS IN THIS SO CALLED ENGLAND.WHEN EASTERN EUROPEAN SCROUNGERS/ CRIMINALS/ BEGGARS SEEM TO BE LOOKED AFTER MORE THAN DESERVING UK BORN PEOPLE. GOVERMENT SHOULD HOLD THERE HEADS LOW.

  • @ajdobmeister7 Surely homelessness is a problem no matter who it is that's homeless.

  • @ajdobmeister7 Ignorance and very sad. Those Eastern European scroungers are working all hours for their families whilst the English are the scroungers I'm afraid.

  • @adelazell you fucking prick if they are good workers why the fuck are the scum here scrounging nhs and benefits. probably your fucking one of them

  • @ajdobmeister7 Its all economy and lack of press, but its no use blaming immigrants, they never would want to cause this. Trust me, Im good friends with many of them

  • @ajdobmeister7 Comments like your amuse me...Britains wealth was forged upon murder rape and theft for well over 200 years...and you think people who were born here have a specific entitlement...It's just pathetic that people STILL think like this in 2011.

  • @ajdobmeister7 Humanity knows no boundary, dude. Humanity is for all.

  • @ajdobmeister7 You clearly don't 'get' this song. It is nothing to do with nationality; it is about those poor buggers that have nothing, whoever they are.

  • @ajdobmeister7 Eastern european people are also people. I don't see why uk born people should be treated better. After all both groups live now in the uk and if they would be treated by their origin it would be discrimination.

  • just uploaded my first attempt at a cover of this song, not sure if everyone will like it, but please please have a little listen, would be much appreciated! :) x

  • This is music!!

  • wow i listened to that song for the first time now after maybe 10 years - we used to sing this song in english lectures back at school - and i became emotional. inspite of it all, it was a good time. my warmest greetings to mrs. wand from 4th grammar school in berlin-marzahn, 1996-2003!

  • he is a very very good singer .. this song is so wonderful (= i luv it

  • what a gr8 song the words say it all

  • I just discovered this song on youtube video and though not a Londoner myself,I share the same nostalgia with any Londoners who live far away from their land.

  • What is the name of this paper...at 4.24.I'd like to read it properly,. Anyone know please let me know too....THANKS TO ALL HERO'S WHETHER IN FORCES OR JUST BEING GOOD PARENTS.

  • beautiful song

  • great song

  • I remember back in the early 70s they would sit in the Jo Lyons tea shops having a cuppa I think people were a lot more sympathetic then. I think especially because alot of the homeless that were around then were shellshocked old war veterens and old ladies that were dispossessed, the benefit system back then was almost non existent. Thank god the salvation army was around they helped so many people

  • a old beauty!!! everybody happy new year!!! and a nice 2011 without ilness and other bad things

  • Best an brilliants song i have ever heard !

Ralph Mc Tell wants to show us what happened in London and everywhere in England !

  • come to California and see enough homeless you wont need these lyrics as due to nazi-run actors like Reagan (every cabinet member 8 years gov 8 years prez picked from list drawn up by Helene Von Damm HItlers own secretary, protege' of Otto Von Bolschwing & Reinhardt Gehlen, who ran Hitler's eastern Intel Ops, imported to run Pentagon's same dept having killed 20 million Russian soldiers + more counting civilians without whose heroism we'd all be sieg heiling those allowed to live.

  • @howlingsandy WTF are you on about??

  • @howlingsandy What are you smoking mate?.

  • Fantastic LOVE THIS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :O)

  • This song was actually the only sang that gave me goosebumps just by reading its lyrics... "for one more forgotten hero and a world that doesn't care."

I think there can't be a single person who doesn't adore this song!

  • Thanks for the upload snakeeyesss11, when he sings about the old man outside seamans mission with the memory fading and metal ribbons it chokes me up as my grandfather was a Londoner who fought in the war and he alway refers to his medals as his ribbons but he has alzheimers now and is in a care home.

once again thanks for the upload

  • at 1:16 thats really sad

  • VERY NICE!

  • Reading these wonderful comments, makes me realize that the world does care.

  • I like the songs. Made me think about quite a lot of things. I mean that I am wondering how people can complain about having too many things to do, too much stress or just not the flashscreen Tv they'd like to own, while there are people who have to sleep on banc the same time? I really hope that I am going to get all my things managed after school...

  • i'm a college student currently, and from what i've heard about adult life so far i'm scared out of my wits

hope i'll be tough enough for it

  • My father played guitar n sung like....well i dunno but it brought a lump 2 my throat.so many memories.sum gud n sum bad but ralph 2 me is folk striped 2 it's bare bones

  • Been a favorite of mine since he wrote it way back. Give blessings for what we have.

  • i remember singing this in primary school. Life affirming song.

  • this song is sooo touchingg

  • this video is sooo fitting and makes the point of the song that much clearer!!! makes ya feel guilty for having bad days when ya see how bad some people have it!!!!

  • We used to sing this at primary school. :]

  • @imjusttrippin haha yea i did too thats what made me look for this song - its been stuck in my head for days for some reason :/

  • It's actually "AND held loosely", NOT "HAND ..." !!!

But almost every book and tab out there has it got it wrong ;-)

The great man says so himself in "Songs For Six Strings", and it does make a LOT more sense, doesn't it? ;-)

    ( and no strange conotations :-) )

  • good point, well made

  • Thank you ;-)

  • great song...all do something to support the homeless!

  • Get rid of ALL the present self-serving politicians and elect people who really care, and who really will make a difference.

  • Whow.. This song makes me cry. The lyrics are so true. There is always somebody in worse circumstances than you are. It's important to remember that and think about it, sometimes..

  • I loved this song at school. It used to bring a tear to my eye then and still does. I'm teaching it to my daughter now. Thank you for posting this with the lyrics.

  • omg this song almost made me cry! great lyrics... great melody... i love it. <3

  • A true classic and one of the best melodies i have ever heard.

    Thankyou

  • Omg i Fell In Love With This Song In First Year In School!!. . . Its My Favorite song

  • 0:13 - 0:25: am I going mad or do I detect a similarity with Pachelbel's Canon in D (and likewise in the other verses and a bit of the chorus)?

  • It's songs like this that inspire people, this is sensational. The lyrics, the melody, I don't know about anyone else but they touched my heart, this is a beautiful song, I used to sing it in choir 4-5 years ago.

  • This reminds me of that old lady in a busy road. She had a sign saying:

'Hoot for peace' on her. Loads of cars were beeping/hooting!

  • not my type of music but this song is really OK :)

  • Different"

  • Always remember there is always someone worse off than you and with bigger problems.

    Peace !!

  • @grooverheliboy Too true! :)

  • @grooverheliboy Unless you happen to be the person at the end of the 'worst' queue, then that isn't the case ;o.

  • Great video match to the words here. Well done!

  • @grooverheliboy you're right! ^^

  • @lalacalove Danke shun.... ve gaites ?/ hopes that righr ??

  • @grooverheliboy That's right, but you have to write it so: Danke schön...wie gehts?
