It didn't open early. It opened 3 years late. Originally scheduled for opening in 2006, but we all know what happened there!
I can't imagine riding over it on a bike. Definitely be careful of the gratings on the spans on a bicycle and/or motorcycle. Can be extremely dangerous. But at least now riders have 8' to ride in and not 2'.
