  • Sevens maelstrom

  • The Aurora SH-40 Luminus SST-50 beats the shit out of this Fenix light for around $60 !

  • Great impartial review. However, you are now probably looking to buy the TK45? Slightly less throw but the TK40 cannot compete with the extra brightness the TK45 brings.

  • haha in love with a fucking torch ahha it sounded funny.

But did you know you can buy a torch with over 4000 lumens of power.. Search "wicked lasers" and you'll find it. It costs over 300 dollars though..

  • @abodiginal69 Sure you can... but they don't run on AA batteries :) that's why this light is so sweet.

  • @abodiginal69

    Oh that "thing"...

It's basically a modded out maglite that sets fire to leaves at like 3 inches away? *sarcasm*omg uber cool!*sarcasm*

and wicked lasers is a scam.

The "Porch" light as it is now commonly called is that thing that little kids scream for their parents to buy them.

  • One of the best lights to come out of Fenix. I just did a video beamshot of it.

  • One of the most economical super bright (relative) and tough lights around. I really want this light soon.

With a regulated high quality charger and low discharge AA NiMh batteries you can get amazing output without spending ridiculous money on cr123 batteries or getting larger 18650 rechargeables.

  • does the head of the light get hot after longer use? if so how hot and is it really a problem because i was thinking of waiting for the tk45. thanks love the review

  • uhm with the new tk45, they say it doesn't get hot. after longer use, would it get hot? and the t cross with the four core does it get annoying and would you go swimming with this light? thnaks love your videos.

  • where'd you get it?

  • where'd you get it?

  • хуита пиндостанская...купи се блять ПНВ и не выкладывай больше видео на уютненький!11

  • You did sound a little disappointed when you tried to throw onto your shed... as it didn't really light up...strange though?? Perhaps the batteries were almost drained ... My TK40 sure goes much further than yours did... so, I believe, yr batteries did little service with your dis[play...but thanks all the same... for yr review. :)

  • Whats the price range on these baby's in May 2010. Just writing 2010 make 's it seems futuristic. Lost in space. Star Trek ect. Back to may 2010 how much do they run price wise ?? Thanks, yl

  • ipx=water resistance

  • ya i have this light too, its overkill, DO NOT SHINE in the eyes, it can cause serious eye damage. thats how bright it is. it also warns you in the instructions it comes with.

  • fantastic! i got a PD30, and should get TK40 as well

  • That is amazing, fantastic, there is no doubt that I'm going to buy this now. Thanks for the fantastic review! :D

  • Not to be an ass but, almost 11 minutes of my life gone and you don't even show the beam?

  • The beam doesn't show up in video. I would have to do a long exposure on a camera to capture it.

  • nice review!

    you are great!

  • Is there anything brighter on the market that uses double a batteries?

  • No, at least at the time of this review. To get brighter, you will have to buy a light that used CR123 or 18650 cells.

  • no lol, 630 lumens is insanely bright, anything higher would require 123's

  • Nice review man. Impressive beam on that bad boy!

  • I have the TK 40 comin and was told not to use lithium batteries. Is there a chance of damaging it with those kind?

  • Yes. You can cause damage to the light using lithium cells. I guess I just got lucky. I used up the full life of those lithium cells and had no repercussions. I now use Sanyo Eneloop NIMH cells.

  • yoru not supposed to sue rechargables as per the instructions on the fenix website

  • @fryop Definitely use just NiMh rechargeables or alkaline. Lithiums put out a little bit more power which wouldn't be a problem with most lights, but when you get 8 of them that bit of extra power adds up... I guess it could possibly damage the circuits.

    With something like a LD20 it's fine.

Definitely a nice light. It's one of my dream-lights to get right now lol. I like it better than the TK45.

  • im going to get a Fenix PD30; does anyone make rechargable Cr123 batteries? If so, whats the best brand?

  • Yeah, don't know the best brand, but they are called "RCR123" cells.

Good choice on the PD30. I just ordered the new 2010 version, with the new LED, more knurling, and the pocket clip. I can't wait to get it!

  • lol grow op @ 9:17

  • I used to be crazy for surefies ..but now i buy only Fenix.. Surefires quality is a bit better anodisation is also better on SF's but Fenix are definately brigter and halph the price.

  • how much have you spent on battery's???how much did you pay for tk40??

  • tk40 is $150, 90.9 euro.

  • 90 euro's ? in Romania it's like. ... TWICE , about 170 EURO's

  • @pigpaul

Just buy nimh rechargeable job done

  • Not us lithium? but why does it say on their website that you can use lithium? they should change that

  • well done!

  • I love this light ,, the only bad point is the thickness of the aluminum boddy .. which you should only be concirned if you itend to drop it frequently.. otherwise brightness is amazing...

  • Nice review! just one question... what the name of the song that plays at the end :)?

  • Thanks! The song is called Midnight Voyage, by Ghostland Observatory.

  • Do NOT use lithium!

  • Why? I can't get a straight answer anywhere.

  • The following is from candlepowerforums:

Usually the Lithium battery volt is higher than 1.5v which we require, so it will do harm to the light, even though the volt is not higher, as you know, the lithium battery has more dangerous factors than the Alkaline and Ni-MH, and TK40 use 8 batteries, then the power will be very great if it's Lithium.

It it will stress the electronics. Running fresh L91s would be about 7.2v. Fresh Alkalines about 6.2, NiMH has about 5v.

  • I use eneloop I bought from Costco. They currenty have a sale on them till mid October. They work great and come precharged.

  • Thanks for the help man. I didn't know eneloops were available in stores, I will go pick some up!

  • Cool review! Just what I was looking for!! Thanks!!!

  • i have an Eagle Tac P10c 220 lumens on one c-cell battery, attached it to my paintball gun and its really good ^ ^

  • Well, it depends. I think it is worth the money for how bright it is, and it's durability. If you want something to carry with you, go with the PD30; it is 65 bucks, 220 lumens, and small. The difference between 220 lumens and 630 is large, but depending on your circumstances, not large enough to justify the increases in size and cost.

  • Good review

  • I have read: "Do not use lithium batteries in this flashlight. Failing to do so may result in battery leakage which may cause damage to the flashlight."

    on:

    fenixtactica [d o t] c o m [slash] fenix-tk40 [d o t] html

but I guess that is not true...

  • I always use Vaseline or some Burt's Beeswax on my flashlight threads...

  • Nice review, man!

  • Thanks for the heads up. Makes sense, but nope I didn't do it! Lol like I said, I'm new to nice lights.
