There's power in numbers just like the military. Once a contract has been signed and executed I would expect both sides to abide by the agreement. I agree with you as far as the contract law, however once the contract has been fullfilled and there is a need for a new contract, if the unions do not get their way, they call peole scabs etc..because they feel they are "entitled" to that job. Once the contract is fullfilled the company and tell the union to take a hike we are not going to renew, that is what I mean when the trouble starts and the entitlement mentality comes in.

Thank you. However i review union contracts and the union lawyers are the worst. I simply tell them we have the work and the money this is what price braket we are looking at. If the unions are too much and take to long we go somewhere else. what I don't like is the union mentality. Unions feel they are entitled. And that pisses me off.

@2purple79 The only thing that entitles anyone to anything is what is written and agreed in a binding contract (except for basic life of course). Unions do tend to gang together. There's power in numbers just like the military. Once a contract has been signed and executed I would expect both sides to abide by the agreement. Neither party is holding a gun to the other's head to sign. If one party isn't happy, just don't agree to it and walk away.Trouble starts after a contract is ratified-always

I agree with you as far as the contract law, however once the contract has been fullfilled and there is a need for a new contract, if the unions do not get their way, they call peole scabs etc..because they feel they are "entitled" to that job. Once the contract is fullfilled the company and tell the union to take a hike we are not going to renew, that is what I mean when the trouble starts and the entitlement mentality comes in.

I was an IBEW member for 21 years and now as an Environmental Manager I do lean to the left and am sympathetic to working people. I don't even live in Wisconsin but I'll be flying to Green Bay next week to help relieve the State of a large share of your tax money and help increase your utility payment. Good for you- work 2-3 min wage jobs with no benefits to take care of your family. YOU LOSE

@CComb501 ..those in need. But there is one very important concept that makes it different from a Communist form of society. In that day, it was individuals coming together to meet the needs of others. In communism it is the gov't that has all the money and doles it out how it wants. Or it forces people at the point of a gun to hand over their wealth to benefit someone else who may just be too lazy to work for it being that they know they are still eligible for someone else's if they want.

One of big the problems with the entire union system is that free people don't have a choice in many areas. Here's another problem with the "union" mentality. Who does "your" job belong to in the end? Does it belong to you (the person that holds it) or does it belong to the one who invested his money to create the job? See the union mentality says that it is yours but its a lie.

My son works a union job repairing helos and I'm proud of the hard work he does, but not because he's under some "union umbrella of protection", but because he is a man of integrity and honor. He despises the union and he doesn't refer to fellow union members as his "bros". Good grief.

I work everyday behind a drill rig and would quit tomorrow if the union came in to our shop. And every single guy I work with feels the same. We're family at my job, and we didn't require a union to make that happen. Buddy, you are entitled to nothing and soon your entitlements are going to vanish. Live with that.

@TrooperRaven Actually I have been in locked step with Americans before when I was in the US Navy. As a Union we have the ability to collectively bargain for and recieve higher wages and better benefits for each other and our families but only by standing together. BTW, I am entitled to the superior wages and benefits I recieve- I have a legally binding Union contract that says so. My entitlements ARE here to stay. You live with that..
