  • The "Hey little girl do you trust me" line sounds A LOT like Freddie's voice.

  • As Brian's dad Harold once said - "I can always tell when Brian's on a record. You don't have to tell me - I know!" Same goes for Freddie - two brilliant musicians.

  • Jesus!!! I love it!!!!!!

  • Super freddie!!!!!

  • How this was never a hit is a mystery to me. Awesome

  • @72guttercat: Never a hit? It was clearly a hit over here in The Netherlands.

  • @hminkema Eddie was more appreciated in the Netherlands than he was here in the uk.

  • mp3iify works again wooohooo awesome - google mp3iify

  • David, tienes muchas canciones, que en mi vida habia escuchado, y que desconocia por completo. Me alegro de haberme topado con tu cannal de YouTube! Gracías amigo!

  • I~love this music. It's like Cabaret music. I might be young, but I can appreciate great music. It's a shame that people my age and younger are listening to people like Miley, I mean to each it's on, but where is the talent like this now days?

  • Brian May is god

  • are you all fucking thick? you stupid cunts, do your homework before posting a message, you thick bastards

  • if ya listen

he is there it is queen backing up Eddie

  • it's a nice song but... where's Freddie?

  • Does anybody know what became of Eddie Howell?

  • He still around as far as i know, but i can't track down where he is.When i was young he lived in my road and would come out and play football with us,a lovely man and many a time i would see him getting into a transit van with his guitar.

  • i only hear Freddie sing: (oooh, oooh, lead)

  • brian may is jesus :D

  • And Freddie Mercury Is God :D

  • haha so true, pretty much one of the best bands eva :D

  • Really :)

  • This song is new to me. It's cool to here something different that Freddie and Brian were involved with. Were they on the whole album or just this song?

  • I keep checking back to see if Long Long Story is on youtube yet, wish someone would upload it, didn't manage to get the single when it came out, and my audio cassette of the Magpie appearance ( recorded doing the old 'mic against the tv speaker' thing) long ago crumbled to dust...

  • This is one of my favorite songs ever!

It was included on the Ghost of Smile cd.

I listened to it over and over again for days on end.

  • Im trying to find a mp3 for this song because I like It. Would you kindly help me?

  • Can I just add that I forgot to mention how that voice - Howell - made that song?

The most obvious mistake, and I'm walking straight into it. Ridiculous.

Wherever you are Mr. Howell, with that one song, you will bring me joy forever.

  • I don't know what to say. Stumbled upon this, I mailed Mr B. May about this one a few years ago, saying I played it every day at that time (did that for like seven years I think) ... asking about specifics, and got a very sincere response saying he was pretty proud about the solo (an early Killer Queen was what he heard in it, so did I) but - being Brian - he said "Freddie went to town" in the backing vocals.

I'd lost it for a while in my collection but it's back in.

    Thank you.

    Peter

  • Thanks for telling us about that. What would "Ffreddie went to town" mean?. That he did well, bad, what??.

  • It means that he did extremely well.

It's nice to see that others too feel that this is a very special song.

  • Eddie i left you a message before under my name which is burns1961 you may notice i left another One but forgot i was on my daughters name GEOGIRL hope you get back soon Phil.

  • And the litle ting at the end was Freddie deciding that only a china teacup would do!

  • It was a tiny chinese cymbal from eddie howell

  • where you can hear there freddie.he plays piano, thats clear, but its a sin that he doesn`t sing a little little part of this song(PS:I think eddie howell seems very unsympathic to me...)

  • Romancer, you're right, it's a pity that he doesn't sing more. But I think you can hear him quite doubtless in the choir.

  • fantastic i wish i could put this on my ipod

  • glad you likedit eddie howell

  • ah well Eddie, perhaps I believed what was written at the time & it is over 30 years ago now!

As for Freddie not singing, doesn't he do almost all of the backing vocals?

  • Well, pleased to meet you, Eddie Howell! I remember hearing your distinctive voice on the radio, loving the strange (reverse echo?)effects on the vocals, wondering who it was and hearing the DJ say "That was Long, Long Story, by Eddie Howell", and not being able to get hold of a copy of the single! Saw you sing it on Magpie (I think) a few weeks later, sans effects but still sounding good, looking cool with a top hat tipped back on your head... Still haven't got a copy, can anyone upload it..?

  • Thanks - I'll upload a copy when I locate it Eddie

  • Eddie please get in touch.I remeber you from Stirchley and would like to get in touch cheers Phil.

  • Hi phil tell me more eddie

  • Hi Eddie,

we would play football in Lea house rd and you would have a kick around with us kids.I do hope you remember cheers Phil.

  • It came out on TOPPOP, a Dutch TV-pop program. I fell in love with this song instantly! Being 12 years of age, I didn't know that it was produced by Freddie. A few years after the release, I heard that Queen was involved in it. Then I knew why I liked this song from the beginning!!! QUEEN ROCKS 4EVER!!!

  • Superb. Brings back memories I thought I'd lost forever. Thanks for posting...........

  • brilliant amazin song!!!

  • This song is an excellent example of Queen's godlike talent level. Eddie Howell's at best mediocre song with his amateur voice is made into a fantastic song and tell me that it's not the Freddie bg vocals along with Brian's awesome guitar solo which clearly lifts the song into awesome moments of greatness.

  • This has always been one of my fave Queen rarities - Freddie produced this record as well as featuring on it - and the early Queen harmonies and Bri's guitar are unmistakable! A little known classic!! Long live Queen (And Eddie Howell)

  • great song, they are geniuses

  • It was released in 1976.

  • Thanks for posting this, David.

  • anyone know when this was? it sounds very early.its really good
