The economic and cultural stability would be greatly strengthened in a return to a constitutional monarchy. Romanians should think about this. The only Eastern Europen nation to have restored the monarchy would attract millions every year and restore a right to something gone very wrong long ago. Re-write the monarch to serve the country in a new 21st century style.

It would give the country a ceremonial non-party head of state, a focus of national unity, consensus, reconciliation, renewal. It would transform the image of the country abroad and bring in vast amounts of money from tourism. The illegal, Soviet imposed republic should be replaced by a constitutional monarchy as soon as possible

The king of Romania would be a far more recogniseable figure than any president or prime-minister.

and then thrown away. December 30, 1947-The Royal Palace in Bucharest was surrounded by Soviet troops and a few Romanian units loyal to the communists. The Prime Minister threatened to kill the students arrested during pro-monarchist meetings if Michael did not abdicate. The king was forced by Petru Groza, with Soviet backing, to sign an abdication document or face a bloody civil war. The communists quickly declared Romania a Peoples Republic.

@micaelix Antonescu era cu naziştii? Mai citeşte câte o carte de istorie, Antonescu era cu Românii şi cu România. Mihai era cât pe ce să se dea cu democraţii legionari în timpul rebeliunii legionare dar a fost salvat de Antonescu. Adevărata victimă nu a fost Mihai care a trăit din banii statului român în străinătate ci Antonescu şi sutele de mii de români ucişi de ocupant!
