  • Best shaving video on yourtube. Thanks for taking the time to make it. :)

  • Sir. Even i want to shave now, and i'm the Lord of a fine, and tremendously awesome, goate. I'm not sure the style will survive my will to cut away all the unnecessary face hair with this new techinque you've taught us.

Also, 9 Guys are Jealous they CAN'T grow a bear to shave xD

  • 9 Mach3 lovers detected :)

  • This guide was very useful, now I am going to show this to my little brother who doesn't know how to shave. Thanks for the video!

  • Thanks for the tips :D my first shave was successful and no cuts! thank you very much!

  • Great video Robert...Really impressive..Also, a great length, as lots of the other "How to Shave" videos are much too long.

  • Thank you sir for the wonderful instructional video. I have watched many videos now regarding shaving with a DE razor but this one makes me feel the most comfortable. As another watcher has posted, leave it up the the English for proper techniques regarding shaving!

  • @SeanandMir Thank you!

  • Extremely well done video, sir. Having made a few videos myself, I know how difficult it is to make a good video. I really like how you varied the camera angles. Good voice over. Good editing.

AND...excellent shaving advice! I'm just starting to research DE shaving and straight razor shaving. I've spent hours reading stuff and watching videos, but nothing gave me a good overview of the process like this video. There's just no substitute for instruction from a master.

    THUMBS UP!!!

  • this video has got me into wet shaving, going to buy all the shaving gear next month. CAN'T WAIT!!!!

  • do you occasionally stop in your shop and do some cuts or shaves or do you have other business ventures that take up your time?

  • @TeslaDRay I still cut hair two days a week, but spend the rest of the time either in the shop or running my shaving cream company Coates 1847

  • @GentlemansShop

cool. when yo shave people, do you use the safety razor on them too or a straight razor.

  • @TeslaDRay We use an open razor with disposable blades to ensure no risk of contamination of bodily fluids!

  • @TeslaDRay We use an ope razor with disposble blades to ensure no risk of cross contamination.

  • @GentlemansShop

does your shaving cream have any alchohal in it? it dries out the skin. i'm assuming it doesn't as you seem to know your stuff.

  • @TeslaDRay Never use alcahol on your face!

  • Can you use the shaving brush with aresol shaving cream?

  • @tehfear You cannot use a can of foam with a shaving brush.

  • I'd get my hair cut/get a shave there if i could, lol. I don't live in England though, whoops.

  • @daboss212 How much lather and how to use your brush is personal thing that only you can decide. As a shaving cream / brush manufacturer the more you use the better for me!

  • According to the book entitled :A Stiff drink and a Close Shave" You want to use water slightly hotter than the cheek can stand. Is that true?

  • @miketallica665 Sounds like good advice to me, go for it!

  • @GentlemansShop

Sir, what do you think of Witchhazel being used as an alternative to Alum? though they're both natural they are also both good antiseptics and combat ingrown hairs.

i like watching this video, it's relaxing, yet informative.

  • @TeslaDRay Witchazel is an excellent aftershaving treatment and is used in Taylor of Old Bond St's My taylor Balm.

  • Hello, thanks so much for the video. I see you're using the castle forbes brands here - are these the lavender or lime? Many thanks!

  • @anewcleardawn I'm using Castle Forbes Lavender shaving cream.

  • this is great now my face feels liked a baby's ASS

  • where can i buy alum i have never heard of it . i live in australia. great video . cheers.

  • @planes100 You can buy your Alum block from our store.

  • Excellent video, thanks! I'm about to make my first foray into safety razor shaving, and this video is an excellent reference.

  • You shave really fast for using a safety razor.

  • @ehackster I don't leave any alum on my face, it's absorbed into my pores which closes them!

  • i suggest most people should shave up when doing under the chin

  • @moakley It all depends on the direction of your beard and varies from face to face.

  • Splendid video, Sir!

Thank You for uploading it; we have learnt a lot.

  • great vid sir, I just bought a cheap DE razor, and can't wait for tomorrow morning to use it for the very first time. those fusion blades were costing me a fortune

  • rapid dog lol

  • I really like the clean and white look of everything.

Who is the maker of the razor? I've never seen one like it?

  • @kajjaznam It's a TGS imitation ivory handled razor made by Edwin Jagger exclusively to our design.

  • The Absolute BEST video on Wet Shaving!

Top of the Class! Nicely done.

  • Howdy... I think this is the best video that I have seen on wet shaving.

  • What is the pre-shave product you are using? What do you recommend for sensitive skin?

  • @DavidSontz I always recommend Castle Forbes, The Pre Shave.

  • Great video and even better web site for your store. I own an original Gillette DE razor from the early 1900's. It was probably US Army issued during WWI. I tried using it a few times. It takes practice though. Alum block is hard to find here in the states. I have to give it a try.

  • Great video, look forward to getting my first DE a 1904 Merkur now.

  • great video mate

  • exactly.

  • I just recently bought a Merkur Futur razor. I was chuffed to bits with your video. It was perfect in length, detail and instruction. The other videos on you tube regarding safety razor shaving are far too long or strange. I can always count on the English for a proper professional delivery. Cheers.

  • Exactly my sentiments. Excellent video - thank you! This has convinced me to abandon my "modern" safety razor and pick up a DE instead.

  • Excellent Video

  • there are other people on here showing short small strokes, im goin to try this way as you are a pro, thanks

  • I too switched from short to long strokes with a long handled open comb from Merkur. In my opinion, longer strokes is the only way to go. Also, I don't rinse it as often as on the other videos. His method works great for me. Well done.

  • I forgot -- i am not entirely sold on the use of the shave brush as prescribed above. I use it in circular motions and think that's also the only way to go unless a vigorous and circular motion might be harsh for your skin. Maintaining the long life of a brush should NOT be your priority. One must expect it to last long however.

  • buy telling us not to use to brush in circles your telling us you make a bad cheep product that does not work to way its ment to

  • I don't make shaving brushes, but offer advice on how to make yours last longer!

  • @GentlemansShop \

and also, when i DID use the safety razor, i then went against the grain but it took so long. the blade was new but it takes so long but the end, my face was raw.

  • very nice video. Thank You.

  • Thank you sir for a well-produced and highly informative video. I am just learning how to use a "traditional" safety razor and this was very helpful!

  • It's the best technique to shave! 100% true => 5/5
