  • well done Daniel San

  • The, legendary, Steve Vai let pride get the best of him and thought he could go toe to toe with the fucking Karate Kid... lol Love this movie.

  • where can i get the notes for this solo?!?!?!?!?!?!

  • very Malmsteen stylish

  • fuck Daniel-san is good.

  • Kinda forgot your pick rauph. lol

  • watched this scene like 50 times... still amazing

  • Steve recorded ralphs part then they had Ralph play steves

  • Comment removed

  • And then he crane kicked him in the face.

  • Van Halen beat this asses off

  • a perfected version of yngwie malmsteem

  • Name of the solo pleas?

  • @CanalMenos Eugene's trick bag by Steve Vai. It's based on Paganini's fifth caprice.

  • steve hasnt got his honeywell signature fan that days and no glitter makeup, of course he couldn't play his stuff!

  • lorenzoman1 what s the film name?

  • Like if you have always wanted to hang that girl at the end of the video

  • Is Mr. Miyagi in the crowd?

  • NO WAY you can play an octave higher on THAT shitty Telecaster!

  • You beginner luck.

  • how is it that ralph only has a 22 fret while steve has a 24 fret, yet steve can't hit the higher note....?

  • @MarkyJayStudios 21 frets! its a classic fender!

  • @MarkyJayStudios Actually, Steve only has 22 frets on that guitar. The combination of 24 frets and a Floyd Rose was first realised on the JEM, which came a year after this film. Steve probably learned from his mistakes ;)

  • @MarkyJayStudios its fake, this was recorded in a studio by steve. :) (sorry if i spoiled something for you)

  • @MarkyJayStudios

because the telecaster is vintage, and the ibanez just can't compete in terms of tone.

  • @MarkyJayStudios What are you talknig about? There both 22 frets.

  • @MarkyJayStudios lol because it's a movie.

  • @MarkyJayStudios He's an apprentice of the Devil, he surely has a sick downtuning ;)

  • @MarkyJayStudios Magic ;)

  • @MarkyJayStudios Relax It's a movie

  • @MarkyJayStudios

    Ralph's got a slide.

  • @MarkyJayStudios well steve hit the higher note but he couldnt make the cool sound

  • @MarkyJayStudios Because Steve Vai was the one who really recorded it and they just wanted to make it cool but with doing that they made it unrealistic ahahaha

  • So when you paint a house by moving your hand right and left really can make you play guitar like god

  • When Ralph is playing, his fingers move fast but look at the people behind him, they move like in the Chaplin's movies. LOL!!

  • i hate it when i ask people about this movie and they think i'm talking about britney spears instead

  • @PrankZabba OMG SO DO I!!

  • Shred on, shred off.

  • Is Ralph really playing that?

  • @gtsbra901 No, its Steve Vai's recording. So technically he's playing against himself :D

  • His Fingers arnt even in the right place xD

  • The thing the kid plays is Paganini, actually. Caprice 24 or something.

  • @TheUnrequitedTruth Caprice 5 yo.

  • God, Must of took along time for steve to play Badly!

  • ..Get a Rematch with Steve Vai today...mu fucka...wax off his dick

  • Where's sexy Jami Gertz??

  • What is the name of this guitar solo?????

  • @HANNAN313 Eugene's trickbag

  • Too bad steve vai actually played both solos haha

  • @ValterraBlue72 he never abandoned it probably just moved on to try new things. and this is just a movie his personality isn't like this

  • Why is it sped up?

  • @hindd95 because karate kid cant actually play that fast, back in the day fast forwarding was the thing to use man

  • @Tropicsca No, I meant the sound; it sounds like it's pitched up; the image is okay.

  • Steve Vai sucks at screwing up.

  • Sweeeeet Thank you great stuff, ayf Michael

  • steve is so fucking god he has recorded both guitars (Y)

  • dam it i tried to do the last bend on an rg570 and broke the strings the were worn but man steve can play, i dont care if robert johnson flossed with 9s

  • Part of what Ralph Macchiao (the winner) is playing is a recording of Steve Vai (the loser).

  • 0:50 The old black man is trying to do the robot...

  • a wild steve vai appeared karate kid use fukin guitar does 10000000 damage

super effective karate kid won 2000 exp.

  • I luv the fact that Vai, before he tries 2 play his solo, just looks at Laruso with utter contempt. Bet he tried 2 strangle Macchio with his guitar strings as he slept that night

  • Sweeps fingerstyle, in your dreams.

  • @Symbton It's just a movie... :) I can play those sweeps so I know it's not even easy with pick :)

  • @tomek1995v8

Haha yea I know, I'm a guitarist myself. But they really should have thought about the movie from "our" point of view aswell haha

  • @Symbton there are no sweeps in this solo, thats cheating.

  • Steve Vai is playing all of this.

  • that kids guitar style is like a malmsteen replica!

  • wax on wax off!

  • haha dahchro

  • dang karate kid is better than steve vai

  • steve vai is white as a ghost then and ralph macchio is clearly darker than him so its obvious who is playing one part and the other and it shows him playing it

  • That Single Coil is satans signature

  • play back!

  • steve can even achieve playing bad. He's always great

  • cooool

  • Awesome!!!!!!!!!

  • BEAUTIFUL

  • How to solo better then steve vai:

Play without a pick. Ofc this helps

Randomly moving your hands up and down the fret board.

  • @MrROFLpotato And have ry cooder playing what your miming off stage

  • correct me if i'm wrong but that "chord" at 1:07 sounds slightly impossible :s

  • why is everyone so fixated on the actor and not the actual song steve vai is playing?

  • I dont think Mr. Miyagi taught him that.

  • @eliteslayer66 I'm not so sure... Waxing cars and painting fences pays off.

  • @eliteslayer66 mr miyagi my ass......steve taught him tht..lol

  • @snap1920 it was steve playing it

  • Comment removed

  • @eliteslayer66 Of course Mr. Miyagi taught him that! Hammer on.. Pull off.. Hammer on.. Pull off. Proof's right there in the intro.

  • Comment removed

  • damn vai needs a 24 th fret :D

  • @uolp1095 I was told that a 24th fret wasnt used, It was a floyd rose tremolo bridge and whammy that got that last note.

  • Is that paganini's fifth?

  • @junkiesofthegenocide yes, only the devil can play that.

  • was not Stevie Ray Vaughan for the kid's part?

  • pure awesomeness - I discovered ry cooder cause of this film - he plays alot in this one - steve via does too :)

  • @MisterFuzzyHead Ry Cooder doesn't play a single note in this particular clip. In the full version, he plays the slide guitar parts. It's rather easy to pick out this small section of licks.

  • PWND

  • Sick

  • if you were to actually play the last solo on a strat, you would run out of frets….

  • Someone should have used the jemini distortion pedal ;)

  • wasnt steve that dubbed him,,, cant remember his name but i read it in guitar word hes like a mainly classical guitarist

  • a great film

  • Hallo Leute geht doch mal auf die( alma ata duisburg) da ist auch ein Super Gitarrist.

  • More impressive than the crane kick, damn.

  • THIS MOVIE WAS GOOD!! Love Steve Vai, another amazing guitarist.

  • i always loved how steve vai is tearing it up but just seems to mess up out of nowhere.

    such a badass movie.

  • like hell he couldn't play that

  • this is true?

  • RALPH!

  • At 0:08 hes like im tired of playing games....time to end this!!...LMFAO

  • Hi Fans das könnte auch der Satan der Seite sein Dagmar Albert Horn von ALMA ATA Rock Band YouTube Alma Ata Duisburg

  • Hi Fans das könnte auch der Satan der Seite sein Dagmar Albert Horn von ALMA ATA Rock Band

  • Whats the solo?

  • @fannyslapper33 Eugene's Trick Bag

  • WAX ON, WAX OFF MuthaFucka!

  • does daniel san still playing this?

  • Why does this movie star a white kid.

  • @martinrking there are movies staring black kids?

  • @martinrking this move so needs a remake with a black kid to get the lore right. and maybe laiho or loomis as the devil's guitarplayer.

  • I wanna learn that, whats it called??

  • @Niallphillips

    Eugenes Trick Bag

    Or Caprice 5th by Paganini

  • @Niallphillips its actually 2 songs the first one is johann sebastian bachs tocatta and fugue in D minor. the 2nd one is nicolo pagananni caprice number 5

  • @fishhead013 now theres a man who knows his shit, thanks

  • @Niallphillips lol your welcome!

  • second player is Stevie Ray Vaughn best blues guitarist ever

  • karate kid???

  • he plays with fingers the most time. i know that he actually didnt play the piece:)

  • Steve Vai only plays his part, another killer guitar player, (cant remember his name) plays Ralph's part.

  • @johnny0110

    Ry Cooder

  • I wish they would have put more attention into making this look realistic. He's using his fingers to pick and getting notes that clear? He's getting a crunchy sound with single coils on a fender? It was still obviously played by someone (hats off to them) but I wish they made the actual visual part more realistic.

  • Steve Vai can only lose to himself :P

  • love this solo, its sooo badass it makes me wanna JUMP UP AND JAM WITH HIM!!! very awsome!

  • Even though I'm a HUGE Metallica, GNR, Motley Crue, and Megedeth fan, this is my favorite 80's solo.

  • that is 4 more a neoclassic masterpeace, not that dumb sweep picking crap

  • stevie ray vaughn played ralph paccinos solo

  • umm.......Steve Vai lost? FUCK THAT!!!

  • wtf is this??? it's like chuck norris loses a battle! BLASPHEMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Jack Butler gonna like you...

  • 1:12 " u prick"

    1:16 " fuck im screwed

    1:38 EPIC #FAIL

  • Use a fuckin' pick, Karate Kid...

  • @ZebMacahan He is playing tha old delta blues, he doesnt use a pick then, its all in his thump and index finger

  • @ZebMacahan "begginers luck" mr miyagi

  • @ZebMacahan with the way he was playing , he wouldn't be able too

  • @ZebMacahan he learned the wax on wax off way

  • @ZebMacahan dude he will freaking rape u in a guitar battle

  • @Lonjaboy97 Steve Vai would, definitlely! However it's not Ralph Macchio who is really playing this solo. Steve Vai recorded both parts. So I would feel fairly confident in a guitar battle against Karate kid.

  • @ZebMacahan id like to see someone manage to really play this without a pick tho x)

  • @longination Word!

  • If you want to learn to play this solo check out my channel. I have 11 videos detailing every note. Enjoy ... Dave. :)

  • I heard they had to do like a million takes because Steve couldn't mess up.

  • hahhaha pinche drama ke hace steve xD

    nice :)

  • steve vai didnt play both parts. he played his and ry cooder played ralph mocchios part

  • Im sorry but u need a pic to do that on guitar!!!

  • @Guitars49 Not necessarily. Some find fingerstyle easier. Although how people can play fingerstyle classical like that baffles me. My friend has been sort-of classically trained since he was 6 and, to me, watching him play is somewhat musically emasculating. I don't look at my guitar the same way for at least an hour.

  • joleen remember when I schooled u on this? enjoy...tell Charlie I expect he knows this next b-day...lol

  • just for the record, the blues part at the beginning is the only part Ry Cooper played; all of the rest was done by Vai, including that RIDICULOUS bend at the end

  • @misterfuzzykins Cooder also played the rest of Macchio's guitar parts in the rest of the movie.

  • huh? who was steve vai between those two guitarists? and y the hell are they so young? i really didnt understand this video beside that the nerd looking guy won and the other left...

  • @KingOfShadows1500 Go rent the movie - the young guy - the original Karate Kid was playing for his soul and Vai was reppin for the Devil. If the kid lost he lost his soul if Vai lost the devil lost and went away or something.

  • Ry Cooder dubbed over the slide parts didnt he?

  • Steve Vai rules

  • why is everyone in hell black?

  • jeeze i think i saw his guitar light on FIRE!

  • NOW QUICKLY!!!! GET THE GUITAR HE DROPED, THATS GONNA BE WORTH MILLIONS 20YRS FROM NOW!!!

  • @garofalo92 are u saying steve will die 20 yrs from now?

  • @chibimaru8 lol no. just look how old this video is. grab steve vai's guitar when he drops it at the end of the duel. 20 yrs later it would be worth a **** load

  • @garofalo92 true. i was thinking price for a collectible asset only raises when the person dies

  • Oh man, I so much liked the way Steve Vai shows on his face. Extremely fucking expressive!

  • he sucks at playing sucky OMG he is a god :)

  • Fantastic! Keep it on and bring it on! For 20 years I have been keping this vid close

  • good thing machio wasnt playing against guthrie govan , he and the old man would have lost their soul.

  • Fingerstyle? there's NO WAY Paganini's fifteenth capriccio was played FINGERSTYLE.

  • @DarthQwerty420 You're right, there's no way his fifteenth capriccio was played FINGERSTYLE.

...because there was no goddamn fifteenth capriccio. It was his fifth caprice.

  • @zaprowzdower110 you're wrong. THERE IS A FIFTHEENTH CAPRICCIO. In fact, there are 24 of them. But of course, this one is the fifth.

  • OMFG, steve vai is such a sucky guitarist:D a random kid owns him, lol:P

  • Karate Kid did a nice job with the hand movements...and LoL at Steve Vai pwning himself

  • i love the solo its the best ever^_^

  • Steve vai is the shit :D

  • how did anyone press dislike on this video?....wth if you don't like this video there is something wrong with you lol

  • I lold at steve vais face when he first messes up

  • steve vai won against himself. he dubbed the karate kids parts
