I have myself been inside a nuclear plant and seen the visible light (Cherenkov radiation) from used fuelrods. The reason I could see them was due to fact that they were at a bottom of a basin of water and the water shielded me from the radiation.

Actually you're only partially right, the earth's geomagnetic field is largely responsible for protecting us from radiation. The magnetosphere is a bit like a forcefield keeping us from frying like eggs. Mars also has a magnetosphere though it is weaker than our own, and besides, on mars the ultraviolet radiation will get you long before the xrays.
@CQUNC: Oh I see, sorry. Our atmosphere absorbs and scatters most of the x-rays because it is so thick. The atoms of the atmosphere are widely paced but there are enough piled above each other to fill the gaps so to speak to absorb and scatter most of it. The thinner the atmophere of a planet the more would reach its surface. I think Mars for example is pretty much a huge x-ray chamber all the time.
the x-rays produced by and x-ray machine are much more intense than the ones we receive from the sun and you need a dense material to block it. the same way that light only can travel so far through water. the water canopy we had was more than enough to absorb all the uv rays and x-rays and let the other spectrum's through like a green house. you guys are so cynically retarded and cant think about a situation and the differences applied. it makes yourselves look very ignorant or stupid.

Well, I think you are overstating here because background radiation does have something to do with aging. It causes an increased rate of cell death. Which causes your cells to divide more often and thus causes the telomers of your DNA to reduce more quickly. Without background radiation we might live (decades?) longer.

Because you DON'T see radiation that's BLOCKED.
It just happens that Cherenkov radiation is blue colored, not X-ray colored. And your basin is shallow enough to not block it, so you DO see it.

Actually you're only partially right, the earth's geomagnetic field is largely responsible for protecting us from radiation. The magnetosphere is a bit like a forcefield keeping us from frying like eggs. Mars also has a magnetosphere though it is weaker than our own, and besides, on mars the ultraviolet radiation will get you long before the xrays.

The atoms of the atmosphere are widely paced but there are enough piled above each other to fill the gaps so to speak to absorb and scatter most of it. The thinner the atmophere of a planet the more would reach its surface. I think Mars for example is pretty much a huge x-ray chamber all the time.

the x-rays produced by and x-ray machine are much more intense than the ones we receive from the sun and you need a dense material to block it. the same way that light only can travel so far through water. the water canopy we had was more than enough to absorb all the uv rays and x-rays and let the other spectrum's through like a green house. you guys are so cynically retarded and cant think about a situation and the differences applied. it makes yourselves look very ignorant or stupid.

If we want to teach the alternative, let's also teach alchemy with chemistry, phrenology with psychology (and put The Culture of Critique on the reading list) magic with physics, homeopathy with health, also teach the flat earth theory in geography, teach eugenics alongside intelligent design in biology (and put The Passing of the Great Race on the reading list) and also teach Nordic Theory in history class.

Well, I think you are overstating here because background radiation does have something to do with aging. It causes an increased rate of cell death. Which causes your cells to divide more often and thus causes the telomers of your DNA to reduce more quickly. Without background radiation we might live (decades?) longer.

Relieving stress through recreation is therefore something that is important to the physical and mental well-being of people. If someone uses marijuana to relieve stress, that's fine. It's quite a bit more benign than alcohol. And certainly the net benefit from moderate use of marijuana as a form of recreation outweighs the negatives.
