  • You are giving silly examples. I am not talking about lying to someone if they ask if they look fat.

Killing someone who is murdering dozens or hundreds of people, is not the same as murder. That is an act driven by the desire to protect those innocent people from being slaughtered. There is a difference. If I punch someone who is about to shoot another person, that is not wrong.

  • @Thebartone9119 If you're an atheist, then at least you're being honest. But you really believe there are no moral absolutes? I find that scary. There are clear moral absolutes that all sane good people hold to.

When is the rape of a woman (or man) ever good? When is the murder of an innocent person ever good? When is the abuse of a child ever good? When is slavery ever good? When is the mass slaughter of people based on religion, race, ect, ever good? These are clear absolutes. You are giving

  • @natenation I believe there are actions with consequences that harm the prosperity of individuals and society as whole. You don't need a God to explain that, anymore than you need a God to explain why a capitalist economy (in any form, regulated or free) is superior to a communist one. The consequences speak for themselves.

You don't need a God to enforce it either, even the corrupt police force is proven to do a better job than threats of Hell.

  • @natenation As for your question of when is rape "good", have you ever heard of a hypothetical "mutual" rape when the 2 partners are forced by a third party on threat of death? Now dying is certainly worse than engaging in unwanted sex. Since neither partners truly consent it still qualifies as rape.

Your other question, when is slavery good? When your God says so apparently. :P So much for absolute morals in Christianity. The only absolute is really "God says so."

  • That would mean that slavery was not wrong, since it was part of the culture and socially acceptable. People and culture can be wrong.

I don't mind if people are atheist, but you can't hold to moral absolutes if you are. You can have a set of morals, but none are absolute.

As for people who did wrong but who are TRULY sorry and ashamed of what they did and ask for forgiveness, they are forgiven. Forgiveness is a good thing. Dont we teach childern to forgive? Everyone makes mistakes.

  • @natenation There are no absolute morals.

I mean, is it immoral to punch someone in the face if they didn't hit you or even say a word to you? Not if they are raping someone and your punch would prevent it...

Is it absolutely wrong to cut a baby's stomach open with a blade? Not if a doctor is performing a surgery that would save the baby's life...

It's clear that there are no moral absolutes, there are always exceptions. Moral absolutes are dangerous.

  • @natenation What if someone said "Anything that prevents life is wrong" as a moral absolute? This would mean condoms would be considered morally wrong, even though they prevent STD's and children being born that wouldn't grow up in a financially stable environment. Anyone who claims "X" is wrong no matter what is a lunatic, there are always ways were "X" could be applied that would actually produce positive results. Is stealing always wrong? What if it was stolen from you first? Understand now?

  • @natenation You act like moral absolutes are a good thing, they are not. What if someone said "It is always wrong to tell a lie" but someone else asks you "Do I look fat? If I'm fat then the world doesn't deserve to exist, I will destroy it in a nuclear holocaust"?

Should you tell him "to be honest, you look fat" simply because lying is wrong? Or should you tell him "You are as thin as can be, I would love to have your figure" to save the world?

Moral absolutes don't exist among sane people.

  • @natenation I mean if someone said it's NEVER right to cause harm to another human being, I would call them crazy. What about a human who is causing harm to a hundred human beings? Would it not be moral to harm that human to prevent the suffering of a hundred other innocent ones who did nothing wrong? I could go on forever with examples, but absolute morals are not safe because there are situations where breaking those codes, is actually more moral in the long run than sticking with them.

  • No it's not false. This is where atheists are dishonest. If their is no God given absolute morals that we all should hold to, then morals are all relative. Who's morals do we determine to be absolute? Accepting one persons, or one culture, or ones leaders as determining moral absolutes would just be bias.

If you say it should be determined by culture or popular opinion, I find that scary. That would mean Nazi Germany was not wrong, that was their culture and what they believed. That would mea

  • If there is no God, then there are no moral absolutes, everything is relative, nobody is right or wrong. Everyone makes their own morals. Even the murderer, the rapist, the child abuser, the thief, ect. And if everything is relative, then what the Nazis did was not wrong, that was what they believed and was their culture. You can't live moral relativism out. I'd rather not live in such a world.

  • @natenation Saying nobody is right or wrong when most morality is socially considered is false. You don't need a god-given "objective morality" when the most important moral issues are self-evident.

According to your god's "morality", it's perfectly OK to be a child abuser, rapist, or murderer, as long as you apologize to your god and accept his son as your savior. Screw the victim - they don't matter. No need to make amends there at all.

Jeffrey Dahmer's in Heaven. Nice, hey?

  • It's usually a "do as I say/not as I do" dogma at times. I prefer a dark, amoral, nihilistic indifference that dominates the individual self if the so-called magical cop in the sky doesn't exist. Why should I bother doing good things for the sake of it? Not me.

  • Wow! This man really knows what he's talking about. He's a hero.

  • I get my morals by doing the exact opposite of what Leviticus says and more importantly, common sense, reason and empathy.

Where I DON'T get my morals from are the book of fairytales made up by some ignorant, scientifically-challenged, non-sensical, deluded, immoral, Middle-Eastern dude who lived thousands of years ago.

  • i get my morals from my common sense, conscience, experience, thought and reason.

  • I get my morals from my common sense :)

  • I get my morals Fed-Exed to me from on high with a side of extra sauce, directly from the only true diety in the universe. The one. The only. The Flying Spaghetti Monster! Once you face Him and he fills you with the holy light of garlic and butter and pasta done just so, you will finally understand Him and his love for you!...Heretic!

  • Life it self

  • i once heard Jesus had irritable bowel syndrome...that might explain a lot.

  • I agree with a lot of what Pat says he has got the right idea.

  • Jesus was a Wicca.

  • i believe in all religion partially, i think all religion is the same and that there is only one god that cares over us. i don't believe in bible, i believe that if i do the good thing, that is that i don't commite theft, murder, etc. i will go to heaven, if i commit sin, i will pray to god itself for forgiveness and i will make sure not to commit the sin again. if i keep doing it again and again, i will go to hell.

  • @3rdWorldChildren you comit sin evry day by paying taxes.(1 of the many)

  • @3rdWorldChildren why don't you just believe in all religions partially if you want to, think that there is only one god that cares over us (no good reason to believe that but if it makes you fell better, fine) don't believe in bible, do the good things 'cause it's just the right thing to do without expecting some sort of afterlife reward that might or might not be there and forget about the mind controlling cohertion Hell thing and the "sin" concept that all they do is subdue your humanity?

  • i import them from China like every other material ;D

  • So the Moral Law is written in your heart?

  • @Enzo012 who needs a book to tell them right from wrong? What ever happened to common sense?

  • @ThisFlat Common sense, is not very common!!

  • morals who needs them..lol

  • @SkullSin21 i wish you where a girl, and yeah morals suck, i would love to just start raping and killing women and my enemies (like the crazy people)

  • @Markov11989 dude calm down i was just kidding.....also why do you wish i was a girl O_O..lol

  • THE LARGEST AXE IN THE WORLD. If you would like to see the second of its kind made, The largest axe in the world, please go to ebay, and in the search box, type in: 130569369041. It would make a wonderful addition to a collector's arsenal, or a retiring gift for a fireman leaving the force, or a gift for the winner of a lumberjack competition. If you are the type of person that likes to have something different than others, this is for you, it has SERIAL NO. 2, completely hand made, USA

  • The ethical philosophy of utilitarianism.

  • I get my morality from Jimminy Cricket.

  • I get my morality from experience and from the natural ability called empathy. It's a thing which not only gives us a clue whether something is wrong or right but helps us to learn things in life. Of course, there are cases much more complicated but in general we should learn from experience and not by the book, not take anything for granted, question authorities and check things for ourselves. We'd be less prone to manipulation and that is just one small bonus to the good-bad-moral values thing

  • You had me up until the end. So Christians can't believe in self-defense and justice?

  • Hi. I don't know what you are talking about. Do I believe that the bible is the word of God? Answer : no. Do I believe buried in the bible there is a timeline of what God has planned? Answer: yes.

  • 100% sure that God has no right to condemn those barbarians? Well then, here is the challenge. Let God resurrect those Hell raising God hating people & lock them together on an island with u & your seed for a million years. Ready to pack? Or do you wish to rethink it?

Today's society has been pushed & pulled out of the dark ages by a God who was generous enough to send His Son to redeem & guide, but as you say, most don't listen. But many have listened. That's why we have morality. Some do hear.

  • @GodisTruthseekTruth Um, you have this all fucked up.

  • The Old Testament runs way deeper than we know. It was written at a time when man thought he could be holy by just purging out the evil from among society. That might have been a great idea until it was revealed we can all do evil under pressure. How do we purge out ourselves. Problem, eh?

There was also an attempt to purge evil by returning evil to those who planned or did evil, or eye for an eye. Still no cure for man.

Enter Jesus Christ. All new deal. We get it or we don't. Hope you get it.

  • If a person is not born again of the Spirit, the Holy Bible will not serve you as it could. Each one of us makes a decision, to draw close to God or not. God says that those who do not obey His word despise it. That seems to be the case in those who wish to be the masters of their own universe. God wrestles against our stubborness until we not only trust Him, we are given spiritual vision by Jesus Christ. Remember those miracles.

Truth is, Jesus is the Son of God, and there is no greater Lord.

  • @GodisTruthseekTruth Are you a "born again", because they are the worst!

  • religion could also be viewed as a positive thing as its a source of morality for some people....jus sayin

  • @roundfaceproductionz Cite where these morals come from specifically. I am sick and tired of the bullshit idea that morals come from religion. They do not! What morals do you get from your religion? The bible says it's ok to kill your kid under certain conditions. The bible says it's ok to sell your daughter. The last place I'm going for morals is some demented idiot who calls himself a priest, who believes in magic, and hates women. Why can you only get morals from religion?

  • I get my morality from the golden rule. I think that works for every situation

  • @3344utube If you want a better rule, look up "reciprocal altruism".

  • Hi. Your absolutely right. All the damnation, burning in hell, is for the organized church. Now that the church is no longer necessary, we are able to find out the true God, spoken by Muhammad or Christ . For example, hell is not a location, but a state of being. It is referring to distance from God, no burning, not literally any way. Remember, God is not human, but God's voice to humans is human, Christ, Muhammad etc.

    chuck

  • @chumola9 Do you really believe that bullshit?

  • Comment removed

  • TRUTH !

  • g*ddammit, PAT...another JEM...!!!.. you've said what i've thought for years... sucks though, that i'm f*ckin' surrounded by so many "BELIEVERS"... f*ckin' sucks, homie...i wanna talk to you!!!

  • watch?v=o9ktS2U53Qg Write "Logical Evidences for Islam" and watch it...

There is A Creator. There a religion. Islam is the true religion.

  • @shncsr Your religion is a little more bat shit crazy than the rest of them!

  • Its obvious unless you have been locked up. Parents hopefully tell their children what is right and wrong. Then they take what they learned into the world. An when a scenario comes along hopefully their brain goes off and choices the right option.

  • They say that this man's girl friend was an extremely beautiful model and all of a sudden she met a Muslim boy and fell strongly in love. She left this guy, converted to Islam and married the Muslim boy. Later she confessed that the major problem was that this man only wanted to penetrated her through anal sex. hat's why this man is so furious about Islam now

  • @StayHuman0 I think you made that all up. I think you're a religious nut.

  • May the spirit perform a miracle on that misguided soul, our brother Condell.

  • i gained my morals the way a kid would, influenced by my parents, whom never took me to church, and word of god was almost never spoken (Given thousands of goddamnits and jesus crist in exclaimation) but the rest of my morals come from as you said, my mind and how i feel

  • i get my morals in my reason and with a simple rule: putting myself in the position of others and see how i would like to be treated before i do any action :)

of course, my philosophy is Preference Utilitarianism

  • @diogotomediogo

If I was a murderer, I probably would prefer to stay alive and free, but that's not how I prefer the murderers. The golden rule is the beginning of morality, but nowhere near the end.

  • @twooffour please consider this basic principle: Do not do unto others what you don't want to have done to you. That is the golden rule. And much better than Jesus' "silver rule" incidentally ('One should treat others as one would like others to treat oneself'). That is much better I think, otherwise just imagine what a masochist would do.

  • @diogotomediogo Sadly humanity as a whole does not do the same.

  • one more thing. as a christian, i would like to remind all christians, that are here to throw stones, that there was no such thing as christians when christ was here.

  • @TheAngryarchangel I wish all you christians would drop dead.

  • @glennheston well i dont claim to be perfect, so, fuck you! we all get to die someday, so, you will get your selfish wish. i suppose it is too much to ask that people respect each other regardless of what they believe. i am not on here bashing atheists so dont think you can hurt my feelings by wishing my death. asshole!

  • @TheAngryarchangel Why don't you explain why anyone should respect someone who believes that the unreal is real? All religions believe in the unreal. Are you trying to say that if someone believes 1+1=3 I should respect their belief? There is just as much evidence that 1+1=3 as there is for the existence of any religions "god".

  • @glennheston was jesus not real? i dont claim that jesus is god, but i do know he is real. quite different than some silly math equasion. you believe in your mom right, well what if i bashed her because i didnt believe in her. i have never seen her, so she could be a made up farce. but i wouldnt out of respect. in this video, mr condell is bashing the church. not jesus. if anything, he is being respectful of christ. why cant you do the same?

  • @TheAngryarchangel Where is your proof of jesus? A "silly math equation" makes it possible for me to tell you that that statement is retarded. What do you think makes the net work, dumbass! After that your "logic" really breaks down! If you want to see the videos where he does bash jesus, they're on here too! Because your childish beliefs are hurting mankind.

  • @glennheston i have watched those vids too, and i respect his opinion, however i do not share it. the net has nothing to do with this convo. i have as much proof of jesus' exhistence as you do the contrary, so again, why can we not respect each others beliefs? jesus did infact walk this planet. deal with it.

  • @TheAngryarchangel You're right about jesus existing, but there's no evidence about him being any kind of "god". The main reason non-religious people can't get along with religious people is because the religion side always wants to be in charge. They want to set all the rules they want, and none of the rules non-religious people want. It's not the non-religious people that want to rule the world, it's the religious people that want to rule the world. Keep your religion to yourself. Be polite.

  • @glennheston wow! i think we have now reached a common ground:) i am christian, however i do not believe christ was god. that is why i cant sit through a church service:) religious people DO want to rule the world. unfortunately a large percent of those are waiting for armegeddon. those crazies really want the end of the world just to be able to say,"see, told ya so". its a sickness.

  • @TheAngryarchangel Are you saying people should keep their religion to themselves? If you are, I can live with that.

  • @glennheston YES! im pretty sure thats what jesus was getting at when he said "the kindom of heaven is within" thanks for the conversation.

  • @TheAngryarchangel "In fact" is not quite right. The FACT is that there is no real evidence that Jesus even existed. There is very little evidence and even that is very, very sketchy at best. So even though there may have been a Jesus, you cannot say that he did "in fact" exist.

  • @DaveStretchingTime if not, then why does almost every religious book mention him? are you saying the scrolls were put there by the government? that sounds more like a conspiracy than jesus' exhistence. Jesus was here. dont worry. its not the end of the world:)

  • @TheAngryarchangel Again, you're saying that Jesus was here as if you have proof. But you're basing your belief on religious books alone. That is not nearly enough and IN FACT there is very little historical record of Jesus.I am talking about history and evidence, not about things that were written by men who never met Jesus (if he existed) and who have different accounts and often contradicting stories about him.I base my statements on real evidence and research, not on holy books alone.

  • i get my morality from driving in my car, seeing others pass by, wondering if they feel like and think of the things i do, and realizing that they do.

  • 2:28-2:40 listen well all of you.

  • The greatest tragedy in mankind's entire history may be the hijacking of morality by religion.

    -Arthur C. Clarke

  • This guy's articulate. A lot of people are like "uhh" or "um" every 10 words nowadays. It's... almost mind-boggling.

  • I am willing to bet my LIFE that this guy has a horrible hidden story he won't ever tell, he is so angry at God, I mean i can understand he doesn't wish to believe in God and i respect his rights because who i'm i to judge him. But who gives him the right to try and crumble the respect & believes of many of us ?… How do you expect anyone to agreed with someone that curses the name of the many good people God represents. NO way ! Thank GOD for Jesus Christ… For it would be patcondell's Way !

  • @HELLORHEAVEN911

What gives him the right? It's called freedom of speech you numbskull. What gives religions the right to sell their provable bull to the world? The same rules apply, except Condell deals in facts not lies.

  • @griefingtons Why are you so mad MY SON ?

  • @HELLORHEAVEN911

Thank you for reinforcing my point with your crap answer. Your lame attempt to rile me with MY SON is pathetic.

  • @griefingtons Hey friend i am so glad i was able to make you feel so much better about proving your point, "Oh about rile you" it never even crossed my mined sir… I simply LOVE you man, you and all humanity, And just so you know- i don't follow religion / church… i simply follow my heart i believe in a supreme being most of us call GOD, but my job is not to judge you for what you choose to believe or agree with. My job is to love everyone no matter what ! hope you can see my point. :)

  • @HELLORHEAVEN911

Nope. All I see is a patronising twerp.

  • @HELLORHEAVEN911 Pat Condell wouldn't tell you to kill your kid. Pat Condell wouldn't flood the earth and kill everyone. Pat Condell wouldn't feel your kid up. Pat Condell's way is looking a lot better than yours.

  • Hitler at least liked dogs.

  • I think your accent is fake just saying........I have nothing against British accents....

  • You know I have been looking at your videos and honestly this has strengthened my already strong faith in GOD THE ALMIGHTY KING OF EVEN YOU NUT BAG!!!!!! When you describe an "evil" God I feel as if you are describing you self pitying, wrinkly, terrible accent having jerk!

  • I get my morality from fortune cookies! hhmmm!

  • lol I just try to not be a dick to people.

  • "christians with guns who support death penalty"... and dropping atomic bombs on others, you forgot

  • @captain2ahab, We need to drop a Big One on Mecca.

  • @InfidelArmee yawn ! do you think that provokes me ? stupid kid.

  • @captain2ahab, It's statement of fact.

The Muslims believe that Al-Lah, the MoonGod, protects Mecca.

Blowing that ShitPit off the face of the earth, would go a long way toward disabusing them of that notion.

Another good reason to Nuke Mecca, is that there aren't any dogs in Mecca. Only Muslims.

  • It is easy for us today to judge how it was 1,000's of years ago if we didn't live back in the cave-mind days.

The truth is man rapes, kills & steals because it is easy to do if no one stops you from taking what your eyes see and want.

But you didn't have to push man away from his cave-mind days, so it is easy for you to condemn God for playing hardball.

But God can play hardball--even if u don't believe this yet. And He needs to do so and will, and in the end you will be glad He did.

    Peace.

  • @GodisTruthseekTruth Why can't you let go of the 1000's of years of bullshit?

  • .youtube.com/watch?v=Hj9oB4zpHww

  • Sam Harris talks about science and morality. i highly recommend watching this :D

  • I get my morality from Pat Condell.

  • @ZarwidThwic Pat Condell is your God ?

  • no wonder that you did not understand God and Jesus as you looked for them in the miracles. You will never find them there and your catholic upbringing did not help. I get my morality from God because god is in each of us, even in Pat. He is right to be anoyed about the organised religion having broken it all, but noone forces you to deny the beauty of God just because of that. You are free to see the truth beyond it

  • Though I do have a personal faith (won't go into it), I just follow a simple idea of doing what I wish, as long as I don't harm anyone, by harm I mean not causing any physical and mental torment to an individual.

  • @NeoDragonCount have fun in hell..

  • @EnvelTheTrader Realy mature. FYI, I don't even believe in hell. I believe in enlightenment.

  • @NeoDragonCount how isnt it mature? its just ur mind dats been brainwashed by society

  • @EnvelTheTrader And exactly how am I brainwashed by society when I'm against many of society's norms? Sounds more like you're the one who's brainwashed, saying I'm going to hell for declaring my ideology of doing what I want so long as I dont' hurt others, like you're some sort of pro-Christian preacher.

  • @NeoDragonCount u can be the nicest person on earth, if u dont believe in god u burn in hell

  • @EnvelTheTrader Ah, so you're one of the dogmatic morons who follows the Bible blindly, thinking you're such a saint by believing in the Christian rendition of the desert oriented death god. I bet watching Schindler's List makes you so happy. ^^

  • @NeoDragonCount never watched schindlers list. and also im muslim

  • @EnvelTheTrader My apologies. So you're a representative of the other desert death god. And I can assume you'd still find Schindler's List funny, since it's about the maltreatment of Jews in Nazi works and concentration camps. Also, what's it to you if I don't follow dogmatic tyranny? Hey, if I'm going to this alleged "hell" or "purgatory" or whatever other fancy names there are for punishment eternal, why complain about me? Are you trying to set me on the same path as you?

  • @NeoDragonCount first off, fail attempt to try and make islam (perfection) sound bad lol and if we scroll up all i said was "have fun in hell" i was just stating a fact. and would i find schindlers list funny? well yes i would. and that is because those FAKE EVIL jews in europe that hitler killed came to the middle east (palestine) and stole land and murdered and expelled over 6 million.

  • @EnvelTheTrader Look, I can sympathize with losing land (you should thank Hitler for that, not to mention he was in league with a warlord based in Jerusalem who aided in killing Jews, and the Catholic Church), and maybe Israel could consider giving up on holding Jerusalem, it's not like it's guaranteed Christ will come. Lastly, you have no authority on saying my beliefs are wrong, for there is no scientific, concrete proof on which faith is the right one. I believe what I want, personally.

  • @NeoDragonCount ok understandable but science is the source of all evil. its also retarded that we act like we know anything about this planet.

  • @EnvelTheTrader Ok, that almost made me choke on my drink from laughter! "Science is the source of all evil". You know without science and knowledge you wouldn't have those dang Yu-Gi-Oh cards of yours. (You burn any cards that depict women by the way?) Obviously you avert logic like the plague, so I'm gonna stop right here. You know what, don't waste my time, or anyone else's who doesn't give a crap.

  • @NeoDragonCount LOL everybody makes that comment about my vids :| why would i depict woman? im muslim... noone on this planet gets half the respect a muslim woman gets.

  • @EnvelTheTrader, You mean, Muslim women get half the respect of a man.

The sworn testimony of a woman is worth only half a mans, in Islam.

  • @InfidelArmee ujealousbro?

  • @EnvelTheTrader, Hardly. Oh Zhombie of Allah.

  • @InfidelArmee a proud zombie. my man.

  • @EnvelTheTrader, Proud Zhombie, is an Oxymoron. Moron.

  • @InfidelArmee english aint my launguage P)

  • @EnvelTheTrader, Obviously.

  • @dolesponger

Hence you've proven my point; you're an arrogant prick who presumes to teach others rather than having an intellectual debate. Then you back down the moment I demand you to present some of your own original thoughts on the matter.

For your own sake, please learn to think for your self instead of bowing down to authority figures like a mindless sheep. Oh, and also learn to accept defeat in a debate; open your mind to other possibilities and you'll be learning that much faster.

  • @dolesponger

Actually philosophy comes from ancient creek words philia sophia, meaning literally the love of wisdom. And please, don't cite the ideas of others, prove rather than you've got some ideas of your own.

Now the problem with the line of thought you're trying to feed me is that it considers "soul" to be something metaphysical, which is one hell of an assumption to base your theory on. That, and a body can't survive with science courses alone, it needs nutrition and exercise.

  • Morality comes from society (what people around you say is acceptable), and from honest self introspection. I take a moment to look inward and ask myself if this action is right or wrong, and the answer is there through empathy. Then I compare that with societies opinion. Of course the two differ often, and no organization, religious or otherwise is needed.

  • @IChIDH Agreed. The bible doesn't tell us not to rape or beat our children or own slaves or sell our children into slavery or descriminate against women and minorities, but most western societies still agree that its wrong. And if the bible thumpers would give it a rest, we could put hating gay people into our socialy excepted list of immoral things. Thanks for that one religion.

  • @floatingpineapple The problem is nobody trusts their own judgments anymore, so they have to find back ups to reinforce what they think they feel. A lot of people instinctively know something is wrong or right but they don't have the self esteem to say so.

  • I get my morality from the bottom of my dick

  • @patcondell

Thank you so very much for all of these extremely liberating videos.

  • @dolesponger

I suggest you follow your own advice. Although in your case, a lot higher dose of inquisitive thinking is also required.

Science is the epitome of intellect, wisdom and knowledge; these are traits of the mind, not the body. Philosophy is the gateway to better life through the maturing of emotions, which is clearly on the territory of the "soul", so to speak. Religion is merely a misleading belief system, and has nothing to do with a healthy human being.

  • @khatack "Philosophy is the gateway to better life" It can be, but so can religion. I'm an atheist and I believe overall, atheism is the future, but then again there are still as many death traps in philosophy as there are in religion. What philosophy? Kant? Rosseau?

  • @john42t

If you're just following the ideas of someone else it'll be just another religion. The writings of Kant and Rosseau are not philosophy, they're just writings. The thought process you use to discover what the world is like and how things work is philosophy; no masters required.

Religion is just a lie one accepts without questioning, no real wisdom can be attained without questions, observation and experimentation. It's the scientific method.

  • @khatack "no master required". Well, no, they are required. I'm a very auto-didactic person, but to think that I should have thought of all I know *all* by myself is absurd. Verify it, yes, but originate it, no. Maybe that's not what you meant, but if not, I fail to see what else you could have meant. Religion is a lie, yes. But historically is has often been under attack by an even bigger lie - marxism being the obvious, but by no means only, example.

  • @john42t

Well let me rephrase that: "no single master required". One can and should learn from multiple sources. Philosophy can be a pathway to many ideas, but as long as one constantly keeps asking questions it'll eventually lead into scientific thinking.

And about Marxism, it is a dogmatic system of thought, it's based on faith, belief and submission just like religion, and its inconsistencies can easily be highlighted by reason, wisdom and knowledge, just like religion.

  • @khatack That's true.

  • @dolesponger

You sure are arrogant. I know I have much to learn, and I'm eagerly learning all the time. Have you considered the possibility that you may also have much to learn?

One thing I *have* learned is that religion doesn't have any useful answers, because religions are asking the wrong questions.

Oh, and if you already have science to represent the mind and philosophy to represent the soul, you'll only need an active life to represent the body. No religion required.

  • @dolesponger

I sought truth, and I found science.

It's obvious that you don't have to prove your beliefs, but don't expect to be taken seriously by people who no longer believe in Santa Claus.

  • @dolesponger

I have a better idea: learn to use your own head instead of always leaning on the ideas of others.

  • Religious nutters!!!!!!!!!!!

They're so very very funny when they try to defend their silly, fairytale.

  • @dolesponger It IS up to you 1 Peter 3:15, but if you'd read that evil book I suppose you wouldn't be a xtian. AND you are a liar, I did seek and all I found were disgusting evil fairy tales and weak minded people afraid of death.

  • @dolesponger PROOVE IT OR STFU! Gullible fool.

  • @dolesponger Lol, the great christian threat.

  • @dolesponger haha and so will u

  • lol 'I think, what would a christian do, then I do the opposite.' funny. but among a few things it would entail: leaving little boys alone, not hating other religions, not killing people because they're homosexual or a different race, and not enslaving others for any reason.

  • Hi. I thought I would answer your question. From , I hope,God , of course. Oh yes, just a note, you know and of those preachers/whomever, they are no longer needed. Now we have a form of democracy. Take care. chuck

  • @dolesponger why?

  • THIS GUY IS WONDERFUL : )

  • Not all Christians fall into this catergory but, being an atheist, I have run into plenty of horrid, rude and moraless "Christians". Check out Michael Shermer's explanation of why morality developed through evolution vs. established by religion.

  • @dolesponger What about gun-toting criminals? You must be one of those rich kids born with a silver spoon up your ass?

  • The crime of Christianity is the fact that it is confidence game. They tell U that "True Believers" are good people, under the immediate guidence of the "Holy Spirit", so you can trust them! It is about winning your confidence and then taking U for all they can. This is Real Christian Morality! And the ones with guns are experts at taking revenge upon non-believers, who they label "Satanist" ofcurse!

  • @dolesponger Shut the hell up. How do you know morals stem from God within you? Oh right, you don't. My bad. And again, Leviticus is from the old testament. So what? Also, atheist can't comprehend jesus being the law? It's kinda ironic for a christian to say that, since you can't even comprehend rationality, common sense and logic.

And give him thumbs down? What a loving christian you are, I'm sure your hobo jesus loves your hatred towards your fellow men. good job

  • @dolesponger so?

  • One thing that we humans like do do is to disagree passionately about what

is right or wrong. Probably this why we have so many different political parties

and religions. The fact is that morality changes as we learn more about ourselves

and our planet. I suppose morality comes from within us.

  • Hey Pat I'm a gun toting Independent, who supports the death penalty! Don't let politics get in the way of your Atheism... I love your vids man!

  • @railroadtrash09, I don't support the Death Penalty. Too many innocent people have been convicted. As for the Guilty, Hangings Too Good for them.

  • My morality comes from the frontal lobe in the brain. Without it, I would be a psychopath, or religious ;) Humans are social creatures and what we call morality is a critical biological mechanism within the brain that helps us maintain alliances with people we trust and care for those we love. It has given us an evolutionary edge over other animal species. That is why it exists. Religion has hijacked it and twisted it to suit it's own power hungry needs.

  • I get my Morals from Chocolate Cake. Can't go wrong with Cake.
