yeah I beat this guy! but it always freezes after the cutscene, after Cissnei and Tieng have their talk, it freezes, showing me zacks feet and some smoke. LAME!

Do the side missions at a save point (I.E. press triangle) I can't remember which one, but after beating it you get the materia 'Electrocute' I think...but I know you have to do side-missions for it.

to raxie: items are an absolute must..have 25 somas and ethers at least, because the boss will drain ALL your sp and mp..assault twister is also vital to kill the smaller enemies..have curaga materia as well..if u dont have these, its gonna be VERY tough..if ur around lvl 30 -35, u can beat him..i beat him at lvl 34...lol..

Because you probably didn't do a lot of sidequests. Work on those too. I recommend doing five missions at every save you come to, and in the end it will add up. You can get special items, materia, shops, etc. I could get myself to a health of 9999 way before the final boss, but that was because I managed to materia fuse a curaga that had a +120% health and used Aerith's limit. But alas, some douche in my french class played my game and saved over it, I want my materia back... >_>;

to make ur hits pass 9999 u need brutal or the genji glove. brutal = 7-4-6, 9-4-6 or in a chest in 9-6-3. genji glove can be found in a chest in 9-6-4.

I beat this guy at level 31 oh man I just got done with him too.

I only equipped HP UP+ 300% got my HP up to 9999 and got him down after...well a long time.

Really the only hard part about this boss was getting around his summons. I would have been fine had he not summoned like that grr but still!

I'm telling you it's not easy if you played it with materia I had. Without wall I would be toast. I had HP Plus 210%, LVL 41, and merely attack power so I could do 9999 with Critical. It was far from easy. I'm really good at dodging but when single hit gives you over 4,000 damage it's getting nasty. My HP was 9999. I died 2 times before I was able to kill it.

You need to get the genji equipment it will raise your hp attack and stats and if you get the materia costly punch it will attack with 99999 i cant remmeber hot to get them though there are walkthrough and facts in how to get them google it

I beat dis guy last night i was 32 and during the battle leveled to 34 and i beat him by using a simple tactic firaga and normal sword abbilities stock up on either since firage will drain alot of mp and set aeriths healing wave materia. It took me about nearly two hours since i took this boss nice and slowly but it isnt impssoble to beat him use my tactic and use m barrier it will come in handy and defend when he take his sword away thats the best way to defend anyways try this out its easy !!!

Have you got a hp materia if you get it to master your hp should be ober 4000 like mine i have a hp 20 on my equpiment and a master hp materia set and i was level 32 at the time.

The leveling system is not completely random, it's based on how far you are in the game/ number of missions completed.
