Actually mystic power is more powerful than supersaiyan power. And yes, Gohan did just sat on his ass after Cell games saga untill he picked up training with the supreme kai. However SSJ3 Goku is more powerful than mystic gohan.

If SSJ3 goku is stronger than "Mystic" Gohan he wouldn't have needed to fuse to take on Buu/Gotenks. But when Goku came back he went straight for fusing with Gohan.

GT may not be from the original manga or the original creators, but it was still part of the anime series so it counts. Gohan was technically stronger than Goku, but Gohan lacked the lust for battle and the overall fighting spirit Goku had. This is what gave Goku his edge in a fight, he just wouldn't stay down, he kept pushing himself. This is what made him superior. Gohan just didn't have the wit or will to fight as hard as his father which puts him in a close second(at least) to Goku.

his power lasted. the only reason he lost is when buu absorbed piccolo, piccolo knows his fighting style because piccolo taught him. he fought in the wrath of the dragon movie. he doesn't need to turn into a super saiyan because he is already stronger in that form.
