@getreadytowiggle1991 The decision to change producers and their sound came from the record company. Unfortunately, nothing was ever as gritty as this album. I liked their later stuff, but it just doesn't compare.
I LOVE THIS SONG!......want to know some juicy gossip about cheap trick that they dare not print in the magazines.....go to "eleanor rigby nzoz1971" and read my 3 comments. regards.
The last two minutes are probably the most intense two minutes in the history of rock music. If you aren't disturbed, hopefully you're in prison : )))).
I saw them a year before this album came out. 2 sets a night for 4 nights. This song used to be called "The Ballad of Richard Speck" (the mass murderer who killed 8 nurses in Chicago). The best time I ever spent in a club.
You guys def know what you're talking about!! Great rocking track and it def pumps you up!!!Rick Nielson by far, is one of the BEST 'rock and roll"guitarist out there and always has been... zander' voice is so awesome!! i can hear the john lennon "tribal yell" influence that was used on his first solo album ie."mother'... Zander is def one of the best!! This Cheap trick album( their first)is such an important album to own...it's fantastic!!
Thanks for posting. I have recently rediscovered CT. They were the ONLY band that I could connect with in the late 70's. Still awesome today and the fact that they have yet to be inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame is criminal. This amazing band are STILL together making amazing music. If any of you can play guitar out there, just listen to Rick Nielson's subtle playing. His playing was effortless, allowing him 'goofing about time' on stage - THAT is just how great a guitarist he is. Outstanding.

Originally "The ballad Of Richard Speck." Studio made them change it.

Yeah, I remember when they were forced to change the title by their record company.
CT had it right the first time,
