Deuteronomy 29:29 says the secret things belong to God. So many things are a mystery. God did state that he would use pharoah to show his power to his people. Paul in Hebrews talks about vessels of honor and dishonor. I guess if we could interview God we could get it straight from it's mouth.
These are good questions that have been debated for years. As far as the Cain issue, it's obvious that every detail of history isn't in the bible. It would never fit in one book. So the history of the other people created isn't found in Genesis. God created all things according to colossians chapter one. As far as calamity, Isaiah 4:7 says God creates it where it is needed to judge people. Why God would allow Adam and Eve to be put in a state of temptation is a mystery.

@liberatingtruth I dont take the book literally. I see all these religious books as just allegorial by nature and with a history mixed into it.
