I thought I had heard and own a copy of most all of his songs, this one i never heard. TY for adding it. as always Browne has this wonderful way of making short poignant statements inside his music that sum up parts of our thoughts in ways we haven't. His gift for writing perhaps surpasses his musical talents, a tall order if so.
I adore Jackson Browne...he's such a kind spirited man. I just got the chance to see him in Phoenix, AZ March 4, 2011...such a wonderful concert...he played many of my favorites...Pretender...These Days...etc....but he didn't play this one...which is also one of my favorites. So I just came on YouTube so I could hear it.
He's one of the best song writers every born...I wonder if he really knows how much his music has touched so many people's lives....Here's to you Jackson...we Love ya! =)
@Charsbeads4u me too! I was at hte PHx gig. my first JB concert, then saw him again at the Tucson, AZ benefit soncert where he was joined by many friends such as Crosby, Nash, Alice Cooper, Jennifer Warnes, and other local groups. his concerts are always whatever he feels like playing and based on requests and whether he has a band or David or not, its a different setlist every show pretty much, it kinda adds to the magic of the show. He even did some Beatles covers at the Tucson benefit.
@Charsbeads4u sadly, Jackson hasn't played this song live more than 3 tours ever, all in the 70's and early 80's. perhaps because his 2 children are grown now, and out in the world doing their own thing. or maybe because Jackson doesn't feel as young anymore. whatever the reason, he's always been an amazing musician and touched so many lives, I entirely agree. Concerts are one of the few ways to show how much we appreciate his music, and I agree, I hope Jackson knows how amazing he is
Jackson is a wonderful but troubled man. He does so much for the world yet all he gets is tragedy. first suicide, then divorce with the woman accusing Jackson of hurting her. It's amazing how he keeps on going through it all, making poetic, beautiful music to share the feelings with the world
@silvercastlemartin Browne has been married twice and has two children. His 1st wife was actress/model Phyllis Major. They married in 1975, memorialized in the song "Ready or Not". Their son was born 1973.Major committed suicide by overdose of sleeping pills a few months later in March 1976, at the age of 30. Browne married Australian model Lynne Sweeney in January of 1981, and they also had a son. Browne and Sweeney were divorced in 1983, when he began dating actress Daryl Hannah.
@silvercastlemartin sadly The relationship with Hannah ended in 1992, and Hannah made a big fuss about it) so, sadly Jackson has not had the best of luck with relationships :-(

Notice his glance skyward at the 2:43 to 2:44 mark...perhaps a gesture to his late wife who committed suicide four months earlier.
