Hi Dave, awesome setup for the ion!, I'm having lots of problems with the original cymbals since they break easily, although I decided to pad the new ones and they are holding up fairly well, I want to change them for a set like yours but I don't know if they are compatible with the ion brain... I also noticed that you use 4 of them while the outputs of the module only allows for 8 connections, do you have a video explaining how to setup your set?, I would really appreciate it, keep on rocking!!
how does the Pintech TC cymbal you have for your hihatt feel. I'm thinking about getting 3 of the TC series for my Alesis E-drums. the 10, 14, and 18 inch
cool. can you tell me how loud the pedal is? i mean if you were in 2nd floor do you think they'l hear you kicking downstairs n does it make alot of vibrations onthe floor kicking like that stomping sound?
Hmm I'm not sure I can answer that, since I've never used it on a 2nd floor. Watch for my next video, which is a noise comparison between the Roland KD-8 and Yamaha KP65. It might answer that. :)
Hey, well played. Just wondering why you bought the roland PDX-8 Snare. Which benefits does it give do you think. It comes across as a bit of a bell when you hit it.
What size is that TC? Because I own a 14" TC cymbal and it is virtually unrollable, even when I tighten the wingnut fully. I wonder if you have a washer underneath your cymbal? I use a roland mount, and since it is plastic I haven't the need to do so, I wonder if it will make a difference. I am searching for a new ride-- do you reccommend PC or TC?
Both my TC and PC are 10". My VisuLite (ride) is 12". I don't have a washer underneath the cymbal, just a felt sitting on top of a standard cymbal sleeve.
Hi, I am looking at these videos to see the Pintech cymbals tested out for my electronic kit. I have a question about your PC cymbal, can you do rolls on it? I had a TC series cymbal but was dissapointed as I couldn't do a roll as there was too much give. Does the PC or your blue one allow that?
Were you able to plug all 4 cymbals in with some kind of splitter? Or are you using the 2nd hi hat in the blue snare position? Sorry if the terminology is off, I'm still a n00b at drumming. Thanks for the insight, and advice.
So whats goin on with the 4 cymbals? How u have all those hooked up? Wouldn't think the 360 brain that comes with the Ion set would have that many ports? I notice u have 2 cymbals doing the Blue nodes. Curious how, an what made u decide to do that? Is it easier with 4?
You mean when I actually hit the PDX-8? You can hear noise quite clearly in one of my other videos, titled "Rock Band Drum Pad Noise Comparison". Check it out :)
you re a way better drummer than me and i can fc this on sightread.
i know about the fc stuff etc , but you have to play the game properly lol

I just used simple mono 1/4" Y-adapters on the Ion cymbal ports to plug in multiple cymbals. Nothing complicated. :)

dude is that a roland td 3 or 4
aldrin81 2 years ago
None of the above. It's an Ion Drum Rocker, with a Roland KD-8 kick trigger, and Roland PDX-8 snare.

bontiguell 2 years ago
Because I find that Roland mesh pads feel more like a real acoustic snare than the Ion pads. So I replaced my snare with a PDX-8. :)

Very nice. Well played, sir. Well played.

I can do that on any of my Pintech cymbals. You know the intro to "Hands Down", that quick roll on the yellow hi-hats? My TC can do that.

I used a normal mono 1/4" splitter to plug in the extra cymbal to my Blue Cymbal port on the controller.

Nice. I'm having trouble with those 16th note bass kicks. Any tips?
51Thundersticks 2 years ago
Well, they're only 8th notes due to the tempo of the song. But yeah, heel-toe. :)
davidshek 2 years ago
Thanks. Pardon my ignorance.
51Thundersticks 2 years ago
Is heel-toe really necessary? it's not that fast.
oneeyedlittleman 2 years ago
I suppose it's not strictly necessary, it's just habit for me.

heh jeez good job though :D liked how you used the hi hat when needed
Path19101 2 years ago
Hey, I was just curious as to why you replaced your snare. Does the ion's snare suck, or it's just a preference?
pccope05 2 years ago
Nah it doesn't suck, just preference. I love Roland mesh pads. :)
davidshek 2 years ago
Do you know how to use a bass-pedal for a non-electronic drumkit to this ION drumkit?
Freddyscount90 3 years ago
You mean rig up just a kick pedal without the trigger pad? Yeah, PM me and I'll send you a link with instructions.
davidshek 2 years ago
do u have acoustic drums?
dttorres93 3 years ago
Yes, I even have a few videos posted of me playing them to RB songs.
davidshek 3 years ago
You plan on getting a hihat kickbox or something similar?
mikehrzgle 3 years ago
Nah, probably not. I'm ok with having those two 10" cymbals next to each other. If I want a real hi-hat, I'll play my acoustic drums. :)
davidshek 3 years ago
what pedals are they, yamahas?

Yep, Yamaha Flying Dragon DFP-8210

amplifier316 3 years ago
The two blue cymbals are connected to the brain with a 1/4" mono splitter. Nothing fancy. :)
I did it because I wanted a blue close to my yellow for the open hi-hat notes that are charted to blue.
davidshek 3 years ago
Doesn't your leg cramp up? I usually wear heavy shoes, usually just one on my right foot, and after 6 songs I start to cramp up and get numb.
omarcuellar2 3 years ago
I've been playing drums for a LONG time. Leg cramps are many years ago. :)
davidshek 3 years ago
it's like a marathon.
you just need practice.
i really want to get the destroyer kick pedal.
looks "lighter" than the stock RB pedal.
kardez13 3 years ago
just wondering here, call me stupid if you like:)
but the snare pad(red) does it really sound like your hitting an actual snare or it just sounds like your pounding in a piece of plastic?
Just Curious please respond

Dave you're the best! I'm going to get some of these Pintechs.
Us clueless rockband dads need some help knowing what hardware to go track down to add a 3rd/4th cymbal. How-to guide video please!
idog63 3 years ago
nevermind, just saw the hopedrums bundles. exactly what i wanted... thanks!
idog63 3 years ago
I'm looking into getting these cymbals. The only problem is, I would have to buy a new stand.
What would be your price estimate for one cymbal (for now), and everything needed for it (a stand and whatnot)?
instantdeath99 3 years ago
Check out Hope Drums. They have some Rock Band special bundles (cymbal, stand, cable, etc.) on their website now for like $70-80 (for the 10" TC).
davidshek 3 years ago
Awesome Man. I can't wait to get my 2 other Pintech cymbals, I'm loving my 10" as a hi-hat!
