Nice Tank, And well kept too, :) i have a question though, i recently lost a catfish due to a fungus, :( i was lucky enough to save the rest of the tank with some good medication :) Are catfish better in groups or do they not mind being on there own, i have a bristlenose but for some reason the prices of all catfish at my local store seem to have shot up!
@jackstafford1001 Thats a good question. I think there is an upside down cat in this video, i can't really remember, but we do still have him. When we got them (when my cousin finished her tank) there were 2 of them but one died unfortunately. They never seemed to bother with each other much, and the one thats left got bigger when the other one died... not really sure how to read that. He seems perfectly ok, so I think you can keep them singley if you want to.
@tandorla Thanks, i havent really got much money to spend ! im only a student and my aquarium is an expensive hobby, so thanks for letting me know, :) Would be good to get some feed back on it ! :) So if you have a minute :) check it out :)
@nathanOsIrEs169 I know, it can be very hard. I find killing anything quite difficult, but in the end if you care about them you need to find something that is not so painful for you, but that also isn't long and drawn out for them. I can't think of anything tho....
@webkinz7709 Yeah, don't flush your fish dude, its best to take them back to the aquarium shop and ask them to have it for you. Many of them will have fish off you that you don't want, they might even give you store credit.
@tandorla That's probably the best thing to do, but not all aquarium stores will accept older fish back in their shops, so sometimes there's no choice.
@webkinz7709 You should never flush fish down the toilet while they're alive! It's animal torture and it's strongly recommended to put them on a piece of paper and cut their head off neatly. It's a much more humane way of getting rid of a bad fish. Although, I would reccomend checking if your fish is compatible with the other fish in the tank and if it's not ask a friend or somebody who's fish are compatible with the species to rehouse him.If not, flush him AFTER KILLING HIM so he doesn't suffer.
@Adablabla Beheading fish is perhaps not the best plan either - if its healthy you kinda have a responsibility for it. If you have to kill a fish (for reasons of sickness etc) I would recomend smashing its head against something - it sounds awful I know, but its quick. If you have bigger outdoor fish you could feed it to them, also very quick, but if its sick you might not want to do that...
@tandorla Well,it's a bit the same thing. Except when you smash their head against something, they might not die straightaway, but if you have a big meat knife or something similar, you can just chop their head off and it'll be painless and fast. Feeding live fish to other, predatory fish is illegal in some countries, because the fish might suffer then too. I really think killing them with a knife is the best solution. Although, wash the knife afterwards, you might not want to use it otherwise!
@Adablabla Thanks :-) its 29 uk gallons, which i think comes out at about 131/132 litres (acording to a rather dodgy conversion table!) We try to keep the tank looking good, but to be fair the sucking loach does a lot of the work in terms of keeping the glass and the logs clean!
@MCplayerable You don't need to wait two weeks. Leave it for 2 days and then put some plants in and leave it for a week. You have to let the water stand to get rid of the chlorine they put in tap water. The plants put lots of oxygen in the water and then you can put the fish in.
You can get air stones(in various shapes) for the bottom of the tank to release bubbles. They are attached to an air pipe, so you will need an air pump, but they are fairly cheap and they last for ages.
@MCplayerable Your English is just fine - it is far better than my Dutch!
The snails will not hurt the fish, but you will need to get rid of them if you ever want to breed the fish, because the snails will eat the fish eggs. I would recomend getting a tank cleaning fish, such as a sucking loach or an ottocynclus, as they will eat some of the snails eggs. You will still have some snails in the tank, but there won't be too many of them. You can also get larger snails that eat the smaller ones.
@tandorla ok thanks!, i will info some guy about it in a week or so cuz then im going to buy some fishes :) i got a 30 L tank just for now cuz im a beginner, later on i might will buy a bigger aquarium :D
Oh Sexii Accent ^^ and Sexii Tank + Fish :D i got fishies yesterday they're awesome lookin lol goldfishies i need some better fish i want a baby shark -__-
lol, u like that? I'm from the Black Country in England, but I find that Americans have significant trouble understanding the Black Country Accent, so I put on a slightly better one. Thank you, btw, I LOVE FISH!
any danios will be fine in a planted tank. I can't think of any tetra that would be bad for a planted tank. Giant danios are good to look at as they are big and very shiney. Plants are very good for tetras as they have a place to hide.
thx its okay now i have dalmation mollies which had babies the first day i got them :) and a question about the babies, i feed them special baby fish food but i cant tell if they are eating it its kind of powdery and its name is hikari first bite PLZ reply if you can
they probably are eating it, but mollies are quite big when they're born anyway - if you crush up the adult food really small they should be ok with that. Is there anything else in the tank? because with mollies you may end up being overrun if nothing eats them. After the female has been with a male she will give birth monthly for the next 8 months - thats about 160 baby fish!
Um - it could mean that they are fighting for dominance. In the wild, the one being chased would just swim away. Neons do tend to kill each other off, you may end up with just two or one. Alternatively it could be trying to mate with the other one. I think the first conclusion is most likely tho.
that sounds like a great selection. You might want to add maybe two or three slightly bigger fish too. If you want danios, the giant danios are very pretty, and they are very good as a group. they are not good with delicate fish such as small angels tho. long vallis is a good plant for a comunity tank as it tends to last a long time, and the fish can eat the ends of the leaves and it won't die. It will die if you put fungus treatment in tho :-(
I am currently breeding pleco, discus and oscars in my 20 gallon tank, if you want one e-mail me. Only $55 each, $30 for shipping! HURRY GET IT WHILE YOU CAN!!!
Yes, I have a 30 gallon community tank. I have 2 angels, 10 tetras and a few others I will upload a video once its finished because I still want to add more fish.
they are very kind to all the other fish in the tank although i wouldnt put them with fish with long flowey tails. umm...what else. they are very beautiful in my opinion. i have the short tailed version for over a year now and they are very hardy. one of them has live through desease outbrake and everything. never gotton sick. long story short...very good fish to have.
