I think it shows he 'practices what he preaches' when that man basically said a few things Aaron said 'didn't line up with scripture," and Aaron was humble and talked about the weightiness of anyone leading people astray. It seems like he really seeks after knowing, and loving God above all other things. Or at least in these interviews, and listening to mewithoutYou or seeing them live, or any small conversations I've had with him inspires me to seek Christ more. Thank you for posting.

He just talks in generalizations and uses verses out of context to back it. I love Aaron and mewithoutYou but he can be leading those astray from Jesus. Christianity is a set of doctrines and beliefs in addition to the most important part - a relationship with Jesus.
It's only more evident listening to the new record and reading the lyrics....too much influence from that Sufi mystic Islam leader that some would label as a cult.
@kittypants102 you just texted in generalization.../ 'verses' 'christianity' 'doctrines' 'beliefs' 'some' 'cult'/ seriously, what does it matter what other people think these words mean?/ and why is it a bad thing to speak in generalization anyway?/ and he doesn't tell people what to do/ he just speaks and sings the messages he experiences/ it feels like a great idea to me too
I don't know who flagged this video, but they really need to examine their values. I'm extremely skeptical about a lot of religion's pieces, and this video helped me more than anything else. Aaron is a brilliant man who really understands God and his relationship with him, and his knowledge deserves to be spread throughout the world.
The cool thing is this: Christianity is challenging. Ever since Adam and Eve, the beliefs of Christianity go against human nature, which is why, I believe, Aaron Weiss comes off as "weird". If someone is so in tune with God's desires, I think they would look weird when compared to the ideal "human" or "American" life. What I don't get is what the guy at the end is disagreeing with Aaron about. Just about everything he said was backed up by scripture.
my thing is- i don't know how to help- what to do for third world countries? I don't really know how to help... and also we're so far from it- it feels like if I did somehow help i wouldn't be able to tell??? I don't know....
he's disagreeing with Aaron, saying that the audience shouldnt let Aaron's interpretations lead them astray from what the gospel supposedly "truly" says.
He says: "No matter what the rock star says, if it lines up with the Scripture it's right if it doesnt it's wrong...don't let anybody, don't let anybody lie to you or mislead you about the importance of the words of Jesus Christ who said I am the way, the truth, and the life." (taken from Paul Harrison's "All the Clever Words on Pages")
He doesn't mean convert in the sense of crusade, but to be an example, because our actions are much louder than our words. What is emergent about him saying that Jesus is not a genie that we rub...that's doctrinal christianity...not emergent.
idk, I see what he is saying with the whole not getting caught up with religion, cause it's about being like Christ and loving people regardless of who they are., it's about having a faith. I guess it's probably cause it's hard to hear so that's why it gets a bit confusing. I get what he is saying, but maybe if he worded it differently, (wasn't so nervous) it would be something easier to watch.
haha, he is not autistic. He is making everything up. He was expected to talk, but they came in the morning and said he was supposed to talk, so he did
yeah he probably isn't autistic, but he shows alot of autistic charteristics. one reason he's not autistic is cause he shows love way too easily. though when you speak to him he is kinda alittle weird and he rarely says anything thats not somewhat profound. I don't think he's autistic but i can understand how that rumour could have started.
he was right about the televangelist hypocrites, but for the most part this man is deceived. of course Christians are to try to 'convert' people. Jesus and John the Baptist preached repentance.. (Matthew 3:2, Matthew 4:17, Luke 13:3).. the apostles were preaching everyday (Acts 5:42)..
in all due respect, Christians can't 'convert' anyone because our human nature makes us just as sinful as those we are trying to 'convert.'the only difference between Christians and non-Christians is that the former have willingly recieved the grace of God and have chosen to follow Him and the latter have not. therefore, by nature, only God can 'convert' an unsaved heart.i believe we are to show God through our actions, not through our solicitation.
Of course God does the saving, but his responses sounded more like the 'emergent church' social Gospel leaders of today who take Scriptures out of context (aka..Rob Bell..Brian McLaren). this is why i no longer listen to mwY.
i feel sorry for you. I have spoken with aaron and i will admit his thoughts on theology are challenging. though to stop listening to mwY its pretty sad. i hope you stopped watching t.v and read nothing else apart from your bible and speaking to no one else apart from jesus, cause all else is just as false as mwY. and i kinda think aaron would agree, maybe?

You won't listen to the band because some of the lead singer's beliefs remind you of some of the beliefs of a group he is (completely) unconnected with? How is it that you have anything left to listen to?
PS - i agree with him though concerning his comments on those tv preacher idiots who are just money hungry. (i haven't watched this video in a long time..but i remembered that he made a correct point concerning that).
I hope your talking about evangelicals here, as they are the only people I know who take 'scripture' out of context. The Bible was written with an ancient audience in mind. NOT a 21st westerner.
"i believe we are to show God through our actions, not through our solicitation."
i believe we are called to use words and actions. we must tell people the whole gospel (Jesus died to save sinners, that if they repent and believe in him, they will inherit eternal life) and show them what it means to live it out. if you don't have both, it is incomplete evangelism.
@dansnikolayevich He came to create Christianity. Read Acts. Christianity is to Judaism as the protestant church is to Catholicism. Jesus came to fulfill the old testament of Judaism but also to diminish some of its teachings.
god i love this man.

He is the closest person I have ever seen to a prophet. He has caused me to search for faith and it's been so hard. But, things are coming around.
DeathofBabylon 2 years ago 5
@DeathofBabylon - Agreed! He and Shane Claiborne, both from Philly, seem to be living Prophets for our time!
30 years of confusion just calms right down for me when I listen to Aaron talk about God and love and Jesus. God Bless him!

The reason it may be hard to understand him somtimes is not because he's nervous, but because he's slightly autistic.
windtakensoul 4 years ago
oh ok, I see, well besides that, there was too much background noise, that's why I couldn't hear.
