everything they do it´s fuckin awesome, they are really good technically, and for me this is not their best song, coz i like everything. Come on the fuckin mike patton, the best singer ever supports them and has had a tour playing with them, they are big!!!
theres nothing emo about this song. listen to the riffs. listen to the basslines. listen to the drums. nothing emo about it, just a fucking good song!
@TheKamisamax sorry i just looked it up on wikipedia lol but idc if foo fighters is emo or not fuck genres its all about the music and foo fighters kick ass!!
@xhushbladex This song, complete rip off of Patton, the voice FX in the verse, which is the only good thing...i mean, I saw REAL DEP... Calculating Infinity then MISS MACHINE, but i thought IRE WORKS Greg was finally coming into his own (worst is him tryign to do Patton songs, lol, who would try?) he was under a lot of pressure.. OP is a great album except for that ONE song.. the piano one, GOD, but if you knew DEP in the day, they should have a new name, totally different
This song is proof that dillinger escape plan can radio friendly if they wanted to, to shut up the people that say they are just making noise and that they
ps: don't let the idiots who don't know good music get to you. everyone has an opinion. some of those opinions are just misguided. lyke duh, delenger iz so emoz! ...right.
@bethbr00tality I miss DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN as well, so were are they because this is not them, this music fucking sucks. DEP needs Chris Pennie back or need to change there fucking name because this music is pissing on everything they did great like Calculating Infinity and Irony Is a Dead Scene.
@dive5 they do not need Chris Pennie back. that's a silly thing to say. The big thing that has changed since those two albums was Greg, i don't feel like the drums have changed that much.. Maybe you don't like Greg? Either way, this music does not "fucking suck".
@dive5 you know what, you're right. they're in completely different categories. you can't even call these drums mathcore. they're easy listening man. they're jazz. they're a little bit of pop and rock and roll. silly me.
@dive5 i know chris pennie wrote a lot of his drums based off of old jazz. you know what else he used? morse code. you know why i know this? we had a conversation about it.
i remember watching this video clip over in nz. we use to have a segment like 1 in the morning called room 13 had songs that i would hard out get into from bands like Underoath to Bullet for my Valentine. Wicked show and wicked band.
Why don't you all just shut the hell up? Quit trying to classify everything all the time and starting pointless arguments. Music is music. Just enjoy it and stop bitching about everything.
I'll state it definitively... songs like this, when within the body of work of a band like DEP, represent not only a break in the monotony of unrelenting audio assault, but also show the band can actually write songs that require sustained harmonies, vocal dexterity outside the realm of screaming, and most important... a diverse musical vision. Anyone who can't at least appreciate this needs to re-evaluate why they even take music seriously in the first place.
You guys should chill out. I can tell that many of you don't own the album otherwise you wouldn't be saying shit like: "this isn't DEP!". Miss Machine has a truck load of brutal songs like Baby's First Coffin or The Perfect Design. The slower ones are nice and break the monotony if you listen to the whole album in one sitting. So quit your fucking whining.
I like when they throw in tunes like this, it breaks up the chaos for a second (but doesn't turn off the genius). The slower ones also seem to have a Faith No More feel to them.
@solargesture DEP are mathcore, my chemical romance is emo, are you trying to tell me you think their similar bands? try listening to sunshine the werewolf, THEN try and tell me their emo
@BetItAllOnBlack Just so you know, that bree bree shit is not death metal, or even music. It is trendy hipster garbage ruining the good name of talented musicians making REAL music. Kind of like how faggot bands have stolen Dillinger's sound and flooded the market.
@Zombie1990 lol trust me, you cannot steal DEP's sound without being a crazy talented musician. that is a view i cannot agree on friend :( oh and some death metal, SOME, is so fucking crazy talented theyd give DEP a good run, like necrophagist
@Rogge14 I don't see technical proficiency having anything to do with talent. Lots of guitarists are average at best, but they were creative and made great songs, Black Sabbath, The Ramones, etc. I will agree with you on Necrophagist though, they are a pretty good band. Only they are not that bree bree pig vomit called music. I cant stand that shit.
mathcore is rhythmically complex metal. there are complex beats, lots of screaming, experimental gutar, loud bass, the drums are insane, i think you get the idea.
Mathcore is another pathetic label given to music that is way more important or intresting than most regular genre's. However, foolish people and others just HAVE to try and define every single band and put them in an exact category, however trivial or stupidly wonderful it may sound. You want some good advice? Dont buy in to this. Dont tell people you like mathcore or ultragnarlsludge or anything else ridiculous :) just enjoy the bands you do and appreciate the music thats all ts about. Peace x
labels are not only a great way to explain your taste without having to name a thousand bands, but also a great way to find bands you might like, if you like the dillinger escape plan, i'd say it's better to be shown protest the hero since they both fit into mathcore then be shown simple plan since they both fit into music
@PsychoChikusho If you feel you need to label, do it quietly away from the adults who know their own taste and how to find or appreciate new/old music, without having a thousand sub genre's. Grow up and have so individual thought
@BoraHorza47 what is a taste without a label.. if u have a taste for sumthing its because its all related.. in a gere or more but thats y there r lables.. to tell apart dif tastes..
Even when they aren't creating some of the most chaotic, mind bogglingly awesome music TDEP still make melodic stuff a hell of a lot better than a lot of musicians.
Hey hey HEY!!! for all those organised folk that need catagories to keep thier simple lifes simple, lets call it Dillingcore, shall we, hhmmm??? now you can tell your friends, "hey, fuck math-speed-death-grind-applecore, i now bitch about Dillingercore". Fuck off, label the shit in your mum's kitchen, noone cares. K.
it seems like in every Dillinger video there are people arguing about which genre these guys are. Who fucking cares, just enjoy the music. Dillinger are Dillinger, plain and fucking simple.
Actually mathcore is generally inspired by Jazz. Often mistaken for grindcore, a genre of metalcore consisting of simple random riffs that are often repetitive, mathcore has a somewhat similar sound but it is more intricate than grindcore. If pulled off correctly the music should sound like noise at first but with a closer listen the complexity should show. The term mathcore was derived from the complex, unusual, and sudden changes of time signatures, riffs, melodies, and sometimes bass lines.
There is a wide variety of the mathcore bands sound. DEP for example is one the first mathcore bands to be created and have a less random layout compared to bands like the number 12 looks like you. The number 12 is equally complex but often faster, heavier in some areas, and probably more often mistaken for grindcore because of their random riffs and speed of playing. Protest the hero is another good example,. They are more influenced more by metalcore but still have the complexity of mathcore
The Jazz plays into the genre because of its natural complexity. The influence of Jazz cannot be heard commonly because of speed but when you break down the riffs and melodies, Jazz influence is more clear, especially in guitar and some bands who use powerful bass lines. The guitarist for the number 12 for example often play jazz music in between songs live to fill gaps when he isn't tuning. I also believe that he has a college education in jazz.
Yes, I have read the wikipedia article on mathcore but I don't take everything I know from that. The only time I looked at wiki while I was writing that was to see if they said number 12 members studied music in college.
