i was in school and we were about to be let out and it came towards our school. wwe stayed in the tornadoe position until like 4:30 and then it passed over our school and headed towards villa park.. although i dont get why we had to be in that position for so long cause at first it wasnt even a funnel yet.. just a spinning cloud

@oilrig22 It's technically a funnel cloud that hasn't touched down yet because there is rotation on the ground near the cloud.

The funnel visible funnel cloud does not have to reach the ground for it to be considered a tornado. If it can produce damaging winds on the ground it is considered a tornado.

OMG I remember this...I couldn't remember this until you said the day, I was just leaving school when they told everyone to get beck into the school because there was a tornado warning and a possib;e tornado, the sky was really dark I was inside thinking 'great, it's like the 3rd day of school and it already might be destroyed...'

I was filming south and was on the villa right nixt to the Harris bank parking lot. I think the tornado it self was forming around the Albright school area.

I don't like pop up storms at night. Because they wake you up at like 1:00AM and your pissed and then the power goes off for a little bit. June 1st 2007 one storm fired up and there was an incredible lightning show. Woke up the next morning to learn that a small weak tornado touched down and traveled though town. I got some pics of the damage.

Cool video, thanks man! I work in that warehouse that collapsed in west chicago, I never did get to see any storm structure. Are you driving south on villa? with the funnel moving to your left, east?

yea driving south on villa. it was moving east ahead of the second wave of storms.

I don't see a single bit of rotation in this. Looks more like a strong area of vertical motion sucking up rain cooled air, especially given all the scattered scud clouds (also not rotating). I think this was just some scary funnel-look-a-like under the shelf cloud. Wish the viewer would have panned out to see it better. There were a few meso-vorticies embedded within the big straight line wind damage area but this doesn't appear to be one of them --- just a look a like.

i was zoomed all the way out at the begining. this was the end of what was there. its hard to get a camera out of the back  while driving. was worse then this. spinning wise.
