American Full Contact Karate like we saw in this video is basically kickboxing with the lowkicks removed. In addition, the styles are very heavily geared towards karate and taekwondo compared to kickboxing.

When you start the fight you got to decide which ones can be effective against that person. And you only have seconds for that. And in Daniels' case he's got routine and strategy too

If a kickboxing want to compete with the best and prove his skill it would probably be best for him to enter the most popular and the biggest kickboxing competition in the world, which is K1 right now...
What about if the WCL instituted a VCA-style scoring? In professional pool, a team's members are ranked according to their previous performance, kindof like an ELO system. If a 3 ranked pool player is fighting a 6, the 6 has a handicap. COuld be interesting, and lend some actual team strategy to the league.
Persoanlly, I think the WCL has all kinds of potential. The crispness of the technique is a sharp contrast to "MMA".

In MMA. There's no grappling in the WCL. And modern Mixed Martial Arts is all about being Multi-Dimensional. You can't come in there with just BJJ anymore. Royce Gracie in his prime would get tooled by Georges St. Pierre worse than he did against Matt Hughes. GSP could force him to stand and pick him apart or take him down and pound him. I love the Gracies but the sport has passed them by. There isn't a single Gracie in the Top 10 of any weight class in MMA.

That's because. MMA is a much more realistic and natural form of fighting. I love to watch the WCL because of the beautiful striking skills but in MMA if Raymond Daniels mistimed one of those beautiful spinning kicks he'd get taken down and submitted or pummeled from full mount. It's already been proven that to succeed in MMA you have to be a completely well rounded fighter. Just go watch the early UFC shows. And I think that Anderson Silva or Cung Le could give these guys a run for their money.

In MMA. There's no grappling in the WCL. And modern Mixed Martial Arts is all about being Multi-Dimensional. You can't come in there with just BJJ anymore. Royce Gracie in his prime would get tooled by Georges St. Pierre worse than he did against Matt Hughes. GSP could force him to stand and pick him apart or take him down and pound him. I love the Gracies but the sport has passed them by. There isn't a single Gracie in the Top 10 of any weight class in MMA.

Rickson had nice Ground and Pound but he never fought a decent striker. I would have liked to see him fight Wanderlei Silva in PRIDE. The Gracies have been producing goo students who become MMA fighters. Grappling is essential to MMA but it is important to cross-train. Daniels lost to Metcalf because he didn't have a ground game or takedown defense. If he cross-trained he could be a force.

maybe you dont know...but there are many styles of tkd, just like there are many forms of other martial arts. Joe Rogan has probably been involved in the kind of tkd that focuses on point sparring. but, there are also branches that have it for more self defense purposes. Anderson Silva uses both Muay thai AND tkd in his fights, I think that proves enough.
