io ero presente e assicuro che dal vivo è assolutamente meglio che in video! tutta la sua prova è stata meravigliosa! emozionante davvero! Amazing Dolora!!!!
A voice of this size recorded does little justice to the actual voice. While this recording is good, to hear her live is awesome in the truest form of the word.
Yuck! Sorry I don't enjoy this. Her voice has always been wild, but somehow it works in a lot of stuff. This, however, is not to my taste. I prefer Bumbry and Verrett in this part. AND I heard D'intino sing O don fatale a few years back and she wore it OUT! I'd love to hear her sing the entire part.
well, you all do not know how this sounds live in the house when zajick "scales down". i heared her several times as eboli two years ago and it simply blew me away. she knows how to use her intrument perfectly. unfortunately her stage presence and acting skills are not - let's say optimal
This is beautiful.. as usual. Her voice is exceptional.. and how many mezzo's do you know that can convincingly do High A natural's Pianissimo.. and make them sound right?
I find this a very intelligent approach to a very difficult scene (and a scene I rrreeeally dislike). It proves what a great singer Zajick is. She manages to scale her huge voice down and lighten it after all those years to sing the coloratura well and the dynamics superbly. I youtubed a few of the famous interpreters of the role and confirmed that I'm rarely equally satisfied by the veil song and o don fatale but Zajick ticks both boxes even though Cossotto remains the finest Eboli in my books.
Oh, so this is what Verdi would have wanted? Not Verrett, Cossotto, Simionato. THIS! You are insane, all of you! Zajic was good in this 15 years ago, not anymore. Open your ears!
Ang you "my dear" are very rude. I suggest you buy a dictionary and try and expande your vocabualry. Oh and wash the "shit" out of ears of you think in any way this is good singing.

Bottom tones are not heard, singing is too covered.. Listen to Blanche Thebom - for superior singing.

Not the point, I realize, but these are some beautiful costumes. And of course Zajick is mind-blowing.

Absolutely agree. Such voices can only be appreciated live.
On tape they all sound the same... But they are -bitterly- not.
Dolora is in the class of the legends.

a very "held back" but very credible performance of this most difficult aria
The forte note is as always wall breaking...

God this is terible singing. Is this the best La Scala can come up with? No wonder the production was booed.
