Yes, a lot has changed in one year. A year ago, amid global financial panic, Harper said there would never be a deficit in Canada as long as he was in charge. Well we have the biggest deficit in Canadian history: 60 billion dollars. And now Harper is saying it can be paid back without raising taxes, and that he can still spend on new programs. And he calls himself an economist? The man is not only unaccountable to parliament, he is unaccountable to reality.
Harper's antics just helped the liberals dump their disaster of a leader and replace him with someone more formidable, who can actually speak english. If he couldn't win a majority against Dion, it's hard to believe he'll win one against Ignatieff.
Ha Ha, what a liar! All you do is repeat the Tory talking points that Doug Finley posted on the Conservative website. Oops! You missed one! The evil separatists are going to control our country. As if you'd ever vote for anyone else. Are they paying you to post your bullshit, or is it love? As NoMajority said, you're a waste of time.
Yes, well if that's true, anyone who can go from supporting the far left to defending the far right, is either schizophreic or a dumbass. If you're schizophrenic, you have my apologies for insulting you. If you're a dumbass, that explains your defense of Harper.
Ha, Ha! Yes, I truly believe that commenting on a youtube video that has been viewed by 715 people is the way to sway voters. By the way, why didn't Layton win the election? After all, YOU voted for him. Where was the power of your almighty vote in the last election?
Harper supporters would never admit that he's trying to subvert democracy. Even if the neo-cons were the only party on the ballot next election. In fact, they'd probably prefer it that way.
The Conservatives currently have lots of money. The Liberals are currently millions of dollars in debt. Harper knows this. Which is why he tried to bankrupt them. Even reporters were talking about how gleeful the Tories were about the whole plan, knowing how it would devastate the Liberals, so don't give me any bullshit about it being untrue. As for Dion's coalition talks - it all goes back to HOW IT ALL STARTED. If you try to destroy the opposition, they just might fight back.
And in Canada if you have a minority you can only govern by convincing enough members of the opposition to work with you. The only important poll was the one on election night in October with the opposition parties getting more than 60 percent of the vote. Which means that they had every right to to form a coalition when Harper lost the confidence of the house. The country is not run by opinion polls - or did you think it was? Maybe you think it should be?
So you believe the economic downturn in Canada was caused by the opposition demanding that Harper puts money into economic stimulis? Do you believe in Santa Claus too? Harper and Flaherty either lied about the economic outlook, or are incompetent boobs who don't know what they're talking about. Which do you prefer?
Most economists including the ones Harper has consulted support an economic stimulis package so what makes you know better And how do YOU know what most Canadians want? And I'm not tied to one party. But I am opposed to the Reformers masquerading as Conservatives who are incapable of working with opposition members to make a minority government work. And whose only clear goal is to turn Canada into a one-party system like the one they have in Alberta. Or Russia.
None of it would have happened at all if Harper hadn't tried to bankrupt the opposition parties to insure himself a majority in the next election. What kind of a leader in a democratic country does that? He's a dangerous man, and I hope he's soon gone. Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year to you.
Face reality. Compared to the abuse hurled at people by Harper supporters on youtube, I've been overly polite. And I couldn't care less who you vote for.
Yeah, they brought Canada down by getting us our own flag against conservative objections, working with the NDP to get a national health care programme against conservative objections, cleaning up Mulroney's huge deficit, refusing to go into Iraq against conservative objections, etc. Why don't you tell us what the hell the Conservatives have ever accomplished?
I'd be the first to admit that the coalition should have backed down when the cons caved on some of their agenda. But the entire crisis was created by Harper's obsession with winning a majority at all costs. We just had an election, he won a minority but that wasn't good enough for him. His first act when parliament resumed was to try to destroy the opposition parties and make them unable to compete effectively in thext election. I think that the man is mentally unstable.
It seems to me that Rick Mercer needs a chill pill. It seems to me that over the last 40 years the liberals seemed to bit by bit bring Canada down. Lets just dump the Fiberals and the bloc once and forall time.
Tiresome rants...I think Rick has swallowed one too many loads..
