  • Wow thanks for the trailer, it's very well done! I remember watching this movie; it's very good, both from a historical and an aesthetic perspective. Old Georgian movies are either funny, sad, romantic, philosophical, or all four. Our old movies are good, I wish I could say the same about our new ones.....

  • why don't you use Georgian music. We have a lot of classical masterpieces of symphonic music. Ask elders. The video is quite good.

  • hey politics105

this Georgia is not USA... it is indipendent country in Europe with ancient culture and traditions..... republic of Georgia....

  • At one point in history, the Georgian poppulation was reduced to 250,000 people due to constant wars and Treachery within the country. Georgians don't give up that easy. Give me liberty or give me death, like that old president of USA said. Today's USA is much different from what its forefathers who wrote the constitution set out to be. Today's USA is Fascist and they spit on the constitution and on people's human and civil rights. I shed a tear for every brave hearted person who died in battle.

  • death to Empires !!! Russia China USA !!!

  • Thanks 4 posting. I'm Iranian-Georgian and I'm just discovering my Georgian roots. The history, the dance, drumming, everything about Georgian culture is amazing and awesome to me. I want 2 visit soon.

  • 1) ...His military exploits led Abbas to appoint him to the staff of Qarchiha-Khan who led a 35,000-strong army to crush the rebellion in Georgia. Saakadze, however, conspired with the rebel leaders his brother-in-law Zurab of Aragvi and king Teimuraz I of Kakheti and ambushed the Iranian army at Martqopi on March 25, 1625, inflicted a decisive defeat on the invaders.

  • There are Georgians in Iran? I would have expected Ossetians, but not Georgians. Interesting.

PS: Why aren't they wearing Caucasian dresses?

  • ossetians come from around tajikistan i think. Georgians in iran were there because they were taken as slaves from kakheti region of georgian. Later Abbas settled turkish/iranian tribes in kakheti but they did not last long. This video is about driving out the occupants from that region.

  • Thanks for the explanation.

  • There are georgians in Iran, Turkey, Azerbaijan and other former arabic tribes. There were uncredible many georgians who were captured by muslims and later became heroes in their countries. For the muslim world, we are the most favored christian nation

  • @EmperorofTerra GOOD SAYING, ESPECIALLY LAST SENTENCE :)

  • Magaria

  • Many direct and indirect members of Safavid family had some Georgian background. Notably Shah Abbas I himself was at least half Georgian, born by a kidnapped Georgian woman and thus spoke the Georgian language very well.

Allahverdi Khan Undiladze, whom the famous landmark of 33 pol in Isfahan is named after, was among the Georgian elite in the Safavid government. Also his son Emam-gholi Khan Undiladze, who defeated the Portuguese army in the Persian Gulf was a famous Iranian Georgian.

  • Shah Abbas I uprooted and relocated thousands of Georgians from their historical homeland, eastern Georgian provinces of Kakheti and Kartli during his invasions of the Caucasus. Most of modern-day Iranian Georgians are the descendants of those who were forced to move though subsequent waves of deportations also occurred throughout the 17th and 18th centuries.

  • Despite their isolation from Georgia, many Georgians have preserved their language and some traditions, but embraced Islam. The ethnographer Lado Aghniashvili was first from Georgia to visit this community in 1890.
