This man Deserves the sympathy of those around him and the understanding from the family of his lover that he needs. There wasn't only the ten commandments for Jews, there are 613 mosaic laws and they are expounded upon using oral tradition(Mishnah). That is a different matter though, loving the sinner and tolerating the sin are two different things, you seem to be getting them confused. No one is saying that you should be hateful towards homosexuals, but you should condemn their sinful lifestyles.
The problem is that when you "condemn someone's sinful lifestyle", it makes it very hard for you to show love and tolerance towards them (since they are already alienated by your views).

Ok. My point was, where does "love thy neighbour" fit into this? Does the Bible say "love thy neighbour, unless they are a sinner"? No. It says, "love ALL God's children unconditionally regardless of race, belief, football team, etc." How does condemning ANYbody fit into this picture (unless, as I said, the Bible is in fact one massive contradiction)? There wasn't only the ten commandments for Jews, there are 613 mosaic laws and they are expounded upon using oral tradition(Mishnah). That is a different matter though, loving the sinner and tolerating the sin are two different things, you seem to be getting them confused. No one is saying that you should be hateful towards homosexuals, but you should condemn their sinful lifestyles.

Destructive things are done all the time in God's name, based on misinterpretations of his Word, so I hope you can appreciate that I will not simply accept somebody's view because "the Bible says it".
I do not believe God will judge people harshly as you say. See my comments to silentonall about the non-existence of hell in the original Hebrew Bible.
But, we can never know the truth, at least not until we die, and I suspect our opinions will remain different until then :)

The *English* translation of the Bible invents this "Hell" word and creates a different meaning to the original Hebrew, as delivered by God through his followers.
If you actually research the original Hebrew, the word was referring to a place on Earth (Gehenna), or a state of torment *in this life*.

What you said is a fallacy, Gehenna was being used as an analogy. If Jerusalem is seen as heaven(Revelation21:2) then Gehenna(the rubbish dump outside Jerusalem) is analogous of Hell. It fits perfectly with Christ's description in Revelation22:15.

The previous chapter(chapter 21) describes the new heaven and the new earth. It describes the new Jerusalem(Revelation21:2), those outside can only mean those who are not part of this new heaven and new earth, and the word, "are," is present tense, so they exist, therefore they must be in Hell. Where else could they be? If Hell is not eternal as you claim then explain Revelation20:10 and Daniel12:2?
