well actually cob is speedmetal per the power riffs and quick continuous solos throughout the song. I like both bands but I think that dt should not be compared to cob. They are two different types of metal. dt focuses on the melodic aspect of metal and cob portrays the speed and power melody displayed in most albums. as for skills, I think alexi owns the guitarist for dt, but I love both bands regardless of technicality.

the structure of dark tranquillity songs is very concise and whenever they DO a solo, it's usually quite short and tasty, however their riffs are where the technical stuff is, it's not the old glam format of simple songs and huge solo parts

When it comes to DM and melodic DM I love the riffs, the solos can be found in most rock and other styles. What I wanna say is that the reason why I listen to DM of sorts is the riffs and not solos, although they do have great solos.

Why does everyone have to clump all these bands like DT, In Flames and Arch Enemy together? Just because they're from the same country doesn't mean they have the same sound. If you feel the need to catagorize the band into a genre, don't compare them to Children of Bodom. They're not even Swedish :P Bodom have been a complete disgrace to the metal scene since Trashed Lost and Strungout, as far as I'm concerned. They suck. Get over it. Love DT though!
