  • Obama used it in the health care bill. It was used in the health care law. What is Obamas doing to R country. Dhimmitude, Never heard the word Till now. Google it, It's on page 107 of the healthcare bill. It is a REAL word. Dhimmitude Dhimmitude: the Muslim system of controlling non-muslim populations conquered through jihad. It is the TAXING of non-muslims in exchange for tolerating their presence AND as a coercive means of converting conquered remnants to Islam.

  • Good information. Gratuitous "background" music adds no value, is obtrusive.

  • This isnt a dem or rep issue. Obama's plan looks like He's backed off the public option and it forbids negotiations for lower drug plans. Its great for private insurance because there looking to pick up 47,000 new captive customers. And drug companies can continue to charge whatever they want.

  • Medicare is an example of single payer. Medicare never interferes with the doctor patient relationship and you can see any doctor you want. In Medicare doctors stay in private pratice only the govt pays the bills.

  • It all sounds good, but the public option is already being tested in Massachusetts and since 07 costs have gone up, more are un-insured and it is considered a failure. Just google it.

  • Germany (as most of EU countries) has global health care and and is ranked among the best health care systems in the world. A global health care system has disadvantages only the people who make money from it. I cant belive how much nonsens is given in the US media. God, US ppl are so dissinformed, all you people know is that the global health care system is bad because it doesnt work in Canada.

  • In Germany and Canada you are also not free like we are in America, and some of us like to decide what we want. Not what the government wants for us.

  • The Boston Globe did a wonderful piece on health care in Massachusetts.. There are multiple reasons for Massachusetts health care quality going down and its not due to the public option..

  • The public option is actually more complex than what Massachusetts has in place. It has the exact same ideas and more. Google this:

    flat-rate no-limit primary care

There are systems doctors have come up with where you don't need the government OR insurance companies dictating your health options. It's way better, cheaper, you get better care, nobody is pushed away and doctors are happier.

  • Good stuff Fireside. Healthcare is a serious issue that touches each and every life in the USA - thanks for the info! It's much appreciated! MHG

  • SINGLE PAYER NOW.. Ask your Representives & Senators to stage a Sit-In on Capitol Hill instead of going on recess. Have those that have signed onto SINGLE PAYER 676 go to the Floor of both the House and Senate and tell why SIngle Payer is the best solution. Have the American Public that support Single Payer, sit in the gallery of the House and Senate...FILL up the seats! C-Span will carry both the House and senate if they are gaveling in every day..SO Gavel in 24/7 for the next 30 days!

  • This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Not having insurance in no way denies anyone access to healthcare. The fact is...insurance or not, you cannot be denied healthcare in this country by law. I don't have health insurance but I still go to the doctor. I just PAY MY BILL. I get my prescriptions filled too...who would have thought it...Most doctors give a discount if you're a cash customer. Why do people feel they are entitled to FREE health care?

  • Depends on how you define denied health coverage.. I went to a private hospital a couple days ago in my town (there are only two hospitals here) They considered it a non emergency (i would disagree) and told me to either pay the 500$ to see the doc or to leave.. I could not afford to pay 500$ even in payments so I had no choice but to leave.. Some would consider that being denied..

  • I don't know your situation, but I'm guessing you were able go to the other hospital or somewhere to get the care you needed. People tend to use emergency rooms as free walk-in clinics. This is a big part of the reason hospital costs are so out of control. If I wanted to go to a fancy restaurant with $10.00 in my pocket I'd be turned away, but I could still go eat at McDonald's. I got my blood sugar, cholesterol, B/P, and bone strength tested free yesterday in a Walgreen's parking lot.

  • Nicely done!

I can't stress enough how important it is to get emotion out of this debate, and instead talk about the subject from the perspective of rational stakeholders. I know, I know, blue sky. But one can always hope that public policy issues might actually be discussed in terms of merit, and not which side "has the better commercials".

  • Oh ya......sure. Bush was under assault day one after the win as stealing the election. Then hit with 911 (which was a result of a bankrupt CIA and FBI for covert operations because of isolationism economics). I am sure he had plenty of time for managing a corrupt systemic banking bill by Clinton like you and I need a second (you know what) The next 8 years were Dem filibusters of Judicial appointments, attacks against every high ranking Bush official and Bush himself. Ya, ok. Nice Koolaid

  • Wake up. Unregulated Internet company valuations under Clinton resulted in the collapse of the Internet stocks. Bush took over the stock market at 7K with collapsed Internet Stocks, 1/2 the nation had just lost their retirement funds because of tech stocks and greed. The effects of the Clinton American Housing Act took NATURALLY 8 years before the financing collapsed. Just like air bubbles in a glass. So all I hear is why didnt George Bush correct a bill he didnt promote. Bro..

  • also, you said: "Even Wikipedia list 11 separate causes. " Even Wikipedia? Sir. You should seriously review that statement. Much of Wikipedia is Op-ED. Shame on you.

  • desktopalert off-topic, but google PNAC. .Cheney's cabal (surely you know by now that Bush was only the neocon puppet) . illegal Iraq invasion was planned by Cheney's neocons years before Bush was selected and before 9/11

  • I am aware that it was not blocked by Republicans but remember they gave him a carrot to get the Welfare Reform Bill. Under his watch, make no mistake about it the American Housing Act was a Democrat PROMOTED bill and Fannie and Freddie were micro managed by Democratic leaders. You seem smart enough so I will spare you their name recitations. If you have no time for details, register on the left. They signed a bill without reading it. They will like you.

  • Sorry. Now we graduate to Govt. Class 102. Clinton Administration mandated the American Housing Act. At the time, Obama was a lawyer suing the US Banks over their failure to loan less then qualified candidates. The mandate to approve bad loans AND the culture itself was like seeds planted which encouraged corporate to run amuck and push the bad money around. My friend, you are so wrong. It is NOT the end result but rather that of which enabled the result. Govt Mandates and Entitlements.

  • I am a FOR solution kinda guy. I am afraid to say something as bombastic as "Must be a citizen to receive free care" because that would lead to bodies in the streets. Its a tough situation. I have zero faith in the Govt ability to solve. The Kumbaya thing just doesn't do it for me and I really think that driving towards what "sounds good" is not good and sound as a principal. It seems to me, especially when I reflect on the current administrations handling of the economy.

  • Stimulus 2? Stimulus 3? HealthCare 4? HealthCare 5? I mean.....when does lunacy dissipate and cognitive coherence take over. People. The Three Card Monte Show is over. Stop asking for re runs. Ya hate BUSH! See a therapist but sweet God stop rubber stamping lunacy. Government is not the solution. HELOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • The ugly truth be know my friend, Corporate Greed is more correctable then Government Greed. Every business or public entitlement Govt has ever touched has turned into a multi-billion dollar horror. Just look how the Govt managed Postal Service, Medicare, Social Security and yes...the now ill fated Fannie Mae Freddie Mac institutions. Govt. is not the solution but the problem. Corporate is now being spanked, but the Govt clowns who mandated bad loans run scott free.

  • The Govt needs to scare the pharmaceutical companies...and it appears they are. Stay out of the business but threaten audits, unannounced audits too.....and let corporate regroup. It will result in a 35% drop of costs across the board because they will be so relieved that the Govt didn't socialize medicine. But I have no answer and I admit it. Just my thoughts. Thank you for your insights.

  • That is a good question. I would however be suspect of such a stat as its hard to gauge the best medical available to less qualified medical as "twice as much" since 1/2 as good a service is most likely worth 10 times less. There is no utopia for medical in a capitalistic society.

  • Health Care Reform 102. Advanced Class. When Government is the "payor" administrative costs go down but corruption soars. Add to that the Governments proven history of failure in running businesses. What credibility do I give you in determining "no one is suggesting we pursue socialized medicine?" There is a very definite gray nebula which exists in the conversation and your deductions utilize broad brush thinking through a single lens, yours. Very articulate but very biased I do believe.

  • desktopalert Single Payer Universal Healthcare and Socialized Medicine are apples and oranges, yet conservatives continue to parrot THE BIG LIE that they are one and the same. Since Universal Healthcare would cut out the middlemen entirely and give Americans direct links with full coverage to PRIVATE health providers more quickly, then there is only one motive that a conservative would be against such an efficient pro-patient heath payment plan as Single Payer Universal Health Care >>>> GREED.

  • Well well well. I will refrain from accusatory speech and stereotyping if you do not mind and simply analyze this part of your statement:

"Since Universal Healthcare would cut out the middlemen "

Its highly evident that you have no idea how procurement agencies work within our Government.

They are called middlemen. The whitewash version of many of these procurement agencies will now work under one of the 37 untouchable, unquestionable CZARS implemented by Obama.

  • desktopalert Obama is no longer for Single Payer, I never stopped being for Single Payer.

  • Great work! keep it up. We need the same vigor in approaching the banking/finance industries also.

  • SPREAD THE WORD! Many still do not understand single-payer. Send the URL to everyone in your address book. Don't send it as a fwd:fwd:fwd: because many will delete without opening (I do). Copy and paste the URL into a message with a personal note.

  • What a great way to reach a more general audience.

  • Thank you all for your feedback and support... please be sure to share this piece with anyone who needs to know more about this important topic.

  • Very good job, right to the point with good information. The health care system must change and we all know this. 5/5 star interview.

  • Great Job! Plain talk about health care reform in America. This is the kind of direct clear communication we need on this topic.

  • Nice work T Mac. I really like the variations of shots used during the interview and the way the questions and the segment are introduced. The pacing and the music bed choice are perfect in my opinion.

I would consider a better outline font for gentleman's cg (tough to make out) and think about some text graphics as bullet points during some of the longer segments.

    Hope things are going well.

  • IYou convinced me - where do I sign? - Pres. Obama

  • Thank You for taking the time to keep us informed. Very Good Video. *****'s coming your way.
