very nice, although this could be fake i dont think it is. but i wannna see a real hologram that uses nothing but light like u see in movies imo thats a true hologram
Looks dangerous spinning that fast. I sliced my fingers on a regular plastic fan . This would probably break your hand if your hand some how manages to collide with it.
@NinjaMotion No probably for showing the layout of a buildings inside or maybe what a person looks like . Nothing crazy just for showing images to an entry team so they can be better prepared. I don't think it could be used as a weapon.
i guess i got the point, there, are several projectors wich shoot the richt image at the richt angle from top to botthem,a mirror in a slanting position spins so fast that it not only reflects the images to the richt position, but it just happens so fast that you do,nt notice spinning from the mirror, but instead you will percieve the image as if it is in front of you,but then again do,nt try tough it cuzz you will lose your vingers hahaha lol.
@Nexxion what I meant was it is not the ideal hologram from scifi. this projects light onto a solid medium, and its size is limited by how big the device is.
@allin1readerwriter Gotcha. Well, it is technically a hologram even if it's projected surface is solid. If you're interested in a spacial projection hologram, you should check out io2technology's "heliodisplays".
@bmw200000 I dont know about that maybe fake a rature or chris return, but i would like to see a fake alien invasion, I would be laughin while everyones running!!
This is great. It was done in 2007 though. I hope it is developed for future home use. I could even see it working on a portable device (although it would be a cube shape, and not the usual candybar/tablet we are use to).
@Momo5775 It's real, the distortions are because of the camera's shutter speed (refresh rate?) and the shape of the mirror spinning if you view it at it's corners there is some distortion... it's tough to explain just take my word for it.
funny how it all keeps coming back to the praxinoscope. I wonder if you could get reflective static particles in a vaccuum to do the same job as the mirror, each one a pixel, with LEDs to project onto them.. like a depth verion of Texas Instruments DLP technology. Trade size of the projection space and picture quality for infinite resolution of projecting off of glass. Then to work on software and a processor to render the 3D volume at 120hz+.. @.@
Absolutely stunning. I'm clear on most of it save the end with the running man. Is he running live? like in another corner of the room with a camera on him, because it can't be a 2d film recording, right? And I still don't understand why the image isn't in color, though you get a blue image of that head. How far we've come since Ed Muybridge's running men and horses! Kudos to you all.
This seems awesome and interesting, but I have a few obvious questions like.
1.Can multiple people see it correctly.
2.What is the mirror thing and where did it go? Some type of illusion to it being missing or what? I don't quite understand this.
3.Does it display in actual 3D, if the display was in front of you, meaning your hand could move through it maybe? Or is it just some video type thing to show us, and not actually as good as it seems?
@Superbike2008 You've got it all wrong. What the device is is a screen that lays ~45 degrees in a vertical plane, and it spins at a high rate of speed, changing what image it's showing constantly to give the illusion of 3D. So if you look at it from the front, it shows the image as it would be if you were facing the front of it. Now, if you walk around to the back, it's displaying the image you would see if standing behind it. It just changes perfectly in sync with the rotation of the machine.
@Superbike2008 Dude, the mirror is spinning really fast, and you could touch it with pain being a consequence. And i'm assuming that multiple people standing around it could all see the different angles relevant to where they're standing
And I bet these people call themselves nerds. They didn't even recreate the "Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope" scene from Star Wars. Disgraceful...
Ja das wäre echtes 3D. Das andere ist ja nur Stereobild. Wobei das für den Anfang erstmal ganz gut wäre. Denn wie soll man den bitte etwas Filmen was dann völlig in 3D dargestellt werden soll?
amazing, this is a holographic image to a certain extent. Obviously its not a true hologram, the image can only be projected on the spinning mirror, but this gets us 1 step closer!
Really well done! I would love more information and your ideas for the future. PM me

Just one Question. Would my own optical visual 'eyeballs' refresh rate need to be the same as the camera used here to see this hologram?

We can cleary see the holo-head bouncing when the camera is moving. That's typical of a artificial effect.
But, some lights mess up camera, like laser. And we can see the reflect of the head on the glass.
So, fake or not ?
