  • I knew I'd be reading Persona comments as soon as I came here.

  • I like the OST's variety. All of them were Interesting to hear.

  • 180 people do not know what the rain is for

  • This is so lame come at me dudes.

  • OMG i LOVE the lyrics! i wish we had this version!

  • I bet they took it from the game because so many stupid people said that this song is shitty for final fantasy. -.-

  • oh this is so good and I don't ven play the game, I just search for awesome music

  • I think it's stupid that they took it out. In Persona there's songs that have lyrics that sound silly but it's Jpop, there's this feel to it that feel nice.

  • @Onlymaybe7

I agree that persona music matches the atmosphere perfectly, this on the other hand sounds... awkward, like I'd be ashamed to have anyone watching me play this game while this 'music' was paying...

  • It's not always a bad thing to have a song with optimistic lyrics

  • @RemiusTheAwesome

Good logic, but it falls apart because the lyrics used in the Steppe, Oerba and Sunleth were in english as well and were included in this release they're just hard to hear at times. Either way, I kind of like this version, and the one used in the game stateside.

  • this is great. should have been in the international versions of the game.

  • anyone else hear this and think "the Japanese version on Nikki Minaj"

  • erm is this in the game???? maybe a different time of Lake Bresha?

  • @yaoimaniac929 It's only in the japanese version, the english version gets an instrumental version of this with a couple altered poritions in it.

  • @AuronX1987 I can't let go of the past because the past innovated many beginnings of our time's gameplay. But, FFXIII is successful and FFXIII-2 is good too, i like all of the FF series but, FFVII and FFX are mai fav.

  • @HeavenlyKnightDeath Agreed. FF7 and FFX are my favorite and top 2 games of all time. I also enjoyed FF 4 DS (first time playing ff4) and Crisis Core on PSP.

  • I preorderd the game and got the soundtrack, I was wondering why the lyrics weren't in the US version.

  • thank you god the lyrics were removed in the western release.

Not so much because they're bad, but because the funny english lyrics simply dont work in a game where it's the native language. I actually enjoyed this theme on our version, i never even knew it had lyrics.

  • With lyrics.. 0_o

  • I wanted the lyrics in the game :( it's alright though. Square Enix not playing ONE SONG the way I prefer won't make me not want to play the game unlike some old school FF drama queens we got here.

  • wtf is that shit

  • i like the new music for final fantasy is a big change from the other games

  • I feel like there were some songs in this game that were just shitty, shitty, shitty songs. Like this one. It just... grinds my gears. Everything but the vocals is fine. But then I feel like there were some songs in this game that rivaled old school Nobuo's shit. Like Invisible Depths, Followers and Heart of Chaos, etc.

  • @tep52b That's interesting you say that because the western version of this game doesn't include the lyrics in this song. Either way, I think it's a great song and really fits exploring around the Bresha Ruins.

  • The oversea's version just isn't the same without her singing...

  • Jesus, she sucks. This woman can't even "rap"- just... her "flow" is miserable. Define your syllables, you talentless cunt.

  • So am I the only one who enjoys the soundtrack...

  • Man. The diction, the delivery, the meaning behind the lyrics. This couldn't possibly be worse. Where are all those light-induced seizures we're constantly warned about? That warning should be modified to include this aural assault.

  • @bridogz Well-put, hahaha. Yeah, this music is abysmal, I concur.

  • @DaishiVI Sorry, "music"*

  • @AuronX1987 Eclipse, Noel's Theme, New Bodhum, Followers of Chaos, Wish, Serah's Theme, Starting Over, Yuel's Theme, Eyes of Etro, Paradigm Shift, The Ruler of Time and Space, Heart of Chaos, etc. all beg to differ.

  • @TheAvidGamer91 New Bodhum might be the best final fantasy tune I've ever heard. Plus the instrumental to this song is actually very good.

  • @TheAvidGamer91 Not to mention augusta tower and the Aggressive mix, last hunters, run, knight of the goddess, worlds collide, crazy chocobo, groovy chocobo, historia crux, seriously this game has an EXCELLENT OST.

  • @AuronX1987 dude how dare u diss final fantasy like that

    get out hater

final fantasy dosnt need ur opinion

    these new songs are awsome

  • @AuronX1987 You don't hear the lyrics in-game. Only the melody and it fits.

  • @AuronX1987 With lyrics this is weird but saying that FF games has decreased!, wrong, FFXIII sold over 6 million copies and was excellent, FFXIII-2 is amazing, you just won't see that cause you can't let go of the past FF games.

  • Ahahahahahahahaha. No. Sorry. We've gone from Uematsu's unforgettable and moving scores to uh... this? I am scared by how bad of a rapper this woman (man?) is. I'm scared by how bad the lyrics are. I'm scared by this entire thing.

  • Non lyric version sounds mellow and relaxing. Lyric version sounds groovy and gets you in the mood. Both are great imo.

  • The beginning makes me wanna pee......

  • This was one of the best tracks in the game, and those F***ing dick wrinkles at SE took out the vocals from the U.S. release!

    So heartbroken...

  • @tymcbee You, sir, are a poet of our times.

  • Rap has no place in Final Fantasy.

We need Nobuo to bring some classic progressive rock in FF ost, not this pop-rap ear candy crap.

  • @ddensu lol no.

  • Comment removed

  • Personally I like the vocals. I think they fit well with the game. For those who can't adapt to the changes that each FF is supposed to bring imo really isn't a fan of the series.

  • @TheRealUltimaga It's about tradition.

FFX is really different compared to every FF before X, but you know what? It's still a FF because it still hangs to the series basics.

FFXIII isn't a FF beyond the name and the chocobos, and personally, If this "rap" is part of the ost of FFXIII-2, I can't consider a proper FFost.

I mean, with Nobuo in FF you had Progressive Rock, Mellow ballads, a 17 minutes Opera, heavy metal, etc. but now they put Rap? In order to catch juvenile audience? Thats bullshit

  • @ddensu Go and listen to Wish, Noel's Theme, Eyes of Etro, Yuel's Theme, Lightning's Theme, Heart of Chaos, Eclipse, Followers of Chaos, Recollection for the Future, etc. and tell me that this isn't a proper Final Fantasy OST. They tried something new with one song on the OST and people are ready to crucify them at the stake for it.

  • @TheAvidGamer91 I honestly agree with you. Their OST for this sounds amazing. That's honestly one of the only reasons I'm getting the game. This is all just soothing. So what if there's lyrics, and small raps? It makes you listening to the music more vivid. It gives people a reason to buy the soundtrack and flaunt it when they can.

  • whats with the 151 dislikes D:?

  • @MrTails69 The dislikes are from "old school" FF fans. And by old school, I mean immature 20 year olds that have been playing Final Fantasy since the 90's and the early 2000's, mainly people who played overrated VI and underrated IX. Shows what you can become when you have no life, no date, and play games a lot.

  • @nagato455 True that, look personally both (this and the instrumental) versions are beautiful and the rapping should've stayed.... old school fans need to grow up.

  • @nagato455 I've played 4 an 5 (not til the very end though), 6 multiple times, played alongside a friend for 7 and 8, beat 9 and 10 multiple times, played much of 12 and 13. Also many other FF spinnoffs and Square games. I LOVE this soundtrack. :)

  • @nagato455 Or could it be the fact that they just dislike how it sounds?

  • best song everrr xDD nobo umatsu can suck my cock

  • It's nice that they're taking a new direction in their music but... I think this song is kinda off for a final fantasy theme. The lyrics is nice but how it flows in the game... the rapping part is kinda weird? it kinda feels like they're trying a direction on persona music? xD

  • (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

  • @Cerberus8792

most epic comment ive ever seen...i was just staring and tryin to figure what it was..you sir are beast...

Look...i like the song and all..and i love rap..but just put a better rapper and this woulda been tight..but for now..i gotta go with the original..

  • @AnimePIMP1

    haha thanks

i do like the music, but i don't particularly care for the girl's voice and personally, i don't think rap has a place in final fantasy.

  • What, they're removing the lyrics?

  • I like Crazy Chocobo better xDD

  • dis bitch kant rap 4 shit

  • Should have been kept an instrumental. Monotone rap doesn't work.

  • @MetalRock7777 Feels more like beat poetry in a way. It's not the best, but I don't mind it. Instrumental is awesome, and the 'rap' is at least acceptable. I don't see the fuss. (even crazy chocobo is a joke track for when riding the more agressive red chocobo)

  • Not too bad. Works for me. Really reminds me of FFX.

  • i kan dig it

    kinda :/

  • The CEO of Square Enix is an idiot, I'm so glad that developer of Versus 13 is standing up to him and making a Final Fantasy game the way it should be. FF13, and 13-2 make me sick!

For those of you who don't know, Versus 13 is a competitive title with other dev houses inside SquareEnix. That's why it's called Versus, Nomura's 13 vs SE Division1's FF13

  • @Nadeskeez You're fucking stupid, unless you're trolling. Versus XIII is going to be NOTHING like the old games, dumbass.

  • @RPGgamerVII Actually it is. The combat is going to be similar to Kingdom Hearts, but you can switch characters during combat and also they're going to use the classical world map again. And what I mean by how a final fantasy should be, is I mean the story and the feel of the game will be deep and not lame like these recent ones.

  • @Nadeskeez Well even if it is you and I both know there will be fans that will whine and whine about it.

  • @Nadeskeez Thats a good point about the world map. Yet still, be prepared for yet another fan backlash. Honestly, every game after FFVII has had some sort of large backlash. (VIII had horrible player reviews, IX was 'too cute and boring and slow battles' etc)

  • @Nadeskeez WHO THE FUCK ASKED YOU TO COMMENT A FUCKING RETARDED COMMENT. PISS OFF!!

  • @Guitarist500 Lol, whatever don't believe me

  • @Nadeskeez Physically sick at a game? (an amazing one at that) I think you have just shown everyone here that you are indeed..a freak of nature. And that is completely NOT the reason it is called versus....don't make up stupid things....

  • @Nadeskeez What is wrong with you? :S

  • @Nadeskeez I don't see how Verses will be anything like the classic FF games, other than the operatic atmosphere similar to some of FFVI. Other than that, it just seems like a Kingdom Hearts without Disney and with the dark tone turned up to max. Not that it will be bad (it looks awesome), but to use Verses as a definitive 'THIS IS FINAL FANTASY' title, is false imo.

  • I'm going back to listen to choco-rock. Love this too.

  • I know the lyrics are suppose to apply to Lightning on her quest to save the future and, don't give up. Though, outside this game those lyrics are very positive, powerful, and uplifting. One of my favorite songs to play.

  • I was shocked after standing still for 2 minutes and didn't hear the lyrics. Wish they were kept in the demo.

  • Oh good god this is bad. Never cringed so hard to a video game song.

  • @1337d0od ummm okay then lol

  • "Wash away the strife (cloud strife), Keep me in the light (lightning)." you know I personally like this song. Here I see these old generation fat asses whining at the changes that each company is trying to make to refresh their iconic series'. Imagine if each game had the same characters, the same music, the same story, and the same plot EACH AND EVERY TIME. Boring. For invisible invaders I say well done SE. Some ppl just cant let go of the past...

  • @frostwave01 This has become my favorite soundtrack in the series. It's so varied and different from every other soundtrack before it... after 4 or 5 games with more or less the same kinds of music, it's so refreshing to hear the series taking a new approach. Type-0 had an awesome soundtrack, too. Lucky us, it's rare that we get 2 final fantasy within 3 years of eachother, let alone a few months apart. Let's hope we get Versus' sometime in 2012, now...

  • @frostwave01 Hmmm...where have I seen a game that perfectly represents all you typed...oh yeah, CoD. And the punishment for being the same each time? Breaking sales records with each new game. I really wish it wasn't like that and games like Okami would get millions of sales and gamers would applaud SE for always trying new things with Final Fantasy but sadly gamers are sending one huge message to game devs: WE WANT THE SAME SHIT! DON'T EVER CHANGE! Money speaks the loudest.

  • @frostwave01 dat is so dum >:{

she didnt mean shit like that

    there just lyrics about the game >:{

  • @frostwave01

He, I AM one of these Old Gen gamers and I really want to know what gaming will bring to us in the future...

You should rather blame all the fanboys and fangirls which still don't get it that the future is build up by changes.

Well... everyone has his own favourite Final fantasy game.

Mine is FFX so far but that doesn't mean that the new games are bad XD

  • @Dragynn999 Agreed. I love 4's story progression (it's a real journey), 5's jobs, 6's overall game (LOVE FF6), VII's groundbreaking qualities, VIII's scale, IX's charm (FF9 is my personal favorite), X's new boundries, XII's experimentation, and XIII's modernity. They're all great in different ways, and I always value this series' existance. Let's just enjoy Sarah and Noel's side-journey, since it just may lead to a huge FFXIII-3 finale.

  • @SwobyJ And for that you are a paragon for your fanbase, you like all of what square made, no matter the backlash each game makes.

  • @Shoop400 Not really. I hated V's lack of compelling story (other than "GILGAMESH!!!!"), VI's broken character advancement, VII's tone (unlike other people), VIII's melodrama and nonsense, etc. I just otherwise view them as high quality games regardless. As for other Square games, I don't enjoy Vagrant Story much, think that Chrono Cross was a misstep, and the XIII 'series' to be farrrr too appealing to a "female demographic" instead of act as an organic work.

  • @SwobyJ Know that feeling bro.

  • like 125 and dont like 139.hä why

  • It's actually really cool when you're in the demo and this theme starts up, very fitting for the area. However, it seems that they took out the lyrics! Seems like all the whining western gamers got to SE.

  • @SilviaGTR1 I'm just glad it seems World's Collide and Limit Break kept theirs. The lyrics are jarring, but also personally enjoyable.

  • The rapped lyrics make me cringe. Everything else is phenomenal though. Much more inspired than all these dull tracks everyone seems to love, like Last Hunter and Paradigm Shift.

  • @KingMichael The English Version of the game doesn't have any lyrics, so you're in luck there. Download the demo and you'll see what I mean.

  • @TheAvidGamer91 im sad, i hope thats just a demo track though >.>

  • @MasterOnionKnight14 Unfortunately, I don't think it is. Having played the Japanese version, I came to like the lyrics being in the song, so i'm a bit disappointed too. I suspect they're going the route of XIII and that they'll be altering some of the songs for the overseas release.

They better not touch Ruined Hometown, Starting Over, and Plains of Eternity. I didn't like the overseas version of The Sunleth Waterscape at all, and i'd hate to see them ruin some of my favorite songs like that.

  • @TheAvidGamer91 well i did notice colliding worlds sounds different, like through a radio. idk how to explain it

  • @MasterOnionKnight14 Yeah, it's like that in the Japanese version as well. The vocals sound distorted and distant. Like you said, as if it's through a radio. I kinda prefer the soundtrack version, though I still feel it's a great song either way.

  • @TheAvidGamer91 If they take out the lyrics for "Crazy Chocobo"... the world will end.

  • @TheAvidGamer91 Eclipse is amazing. If they touch that, I'll finally fan-rage, haha.

  • I think this music is cool. Fuck all you weeaboo haters who only want shitty JPOP bands you can't even understand. This shit has some sweet ass TWEWY-feel, and the soundtrack was the only thing noteworthy about that game.

  • this song.. it's not bad really. But in a Final Fantasy game? ehhhh i would avoid it :\ It seems out of place with the lyrics and made me thing of TWEWY like someone else has commented on

  • I like it

  • why?

  • Pre-order canceled, screw this.

  • It's really good, without lyrics maibe ?

  • Reminds me more of The World Ends With You than Persona 3 but yeah it's alright C:

  • Dunno why people are focusing so much on the lyrics when the BGM is fantastic.

  • Make me into a higher being.

  • Rap could have been good, but it's awful here. Music is nice though.

  • Uughhh....bad. Not a fan of rap personally, but I think it would have sounded a lot better if it wasn't so monotoned. Plus, when they're rapping, it doesn't go with the actual music. Jumbled mess if you ask me. And no, I don't want change in my FF music. All of the music for each FF soundtrack sounds different to me. They just went a little TOO different on this one for my taste.

  • Comment removed

  • True Final Fantasy fans know this is just a cultural thing. Just listen do Dissidia's final battle 'rock' song, the lyrics are darn awful, but the song is just great. This game is beautiful, and so is FF13!

  • Comparing this to the soundtrack in The World Ends With You is an insult to TWEWY's brilliant soundtrack. The lyrics in TWEWY songs were a bit nonsensical, but the singers/rappers themselves were super talented. This is just really bad rapping with some decent background music.

  • After seeing a few threads, I think the biggest thing is all the lyrical songs in this OST. XIII was mostly orchestral instrumental music, very traditional stuff while this has loads of vocals and weird, experimental electronica and ambience, though stuff like Wish and God of War are very much like 13 so they didn't completely toss out everything. Personally I like when artists try different things and not just retread their style but I understand why it's not everyone's thing.

  • Rapping in monotone... Instrumental would be nice. This game didn't need so many lyrical tracks. I don't hate FFXIII-2's soundtrack, but... some of the songs suck. I didn't find the red Chocobo theme humourous at all. I heard screaming. This one is... :/ There's a few other shitty tracks, but mainly they are all nice. I like the variety of music. :)

  • The Daria Rap

  • Rapping in monotone...Fuck this

Rapping in a FF game...im done

  • I like it.

  • If this song had no lyrics it would have been great...actually most of this soundtrack without lyrics would have been recommended..sometimes I just dont understand how every single head at square enix thought this was gonna work...maybe its a cultural thing...so in that case maybe Square enix needs a western cultural rep at the top in Japan?!

  • @AlistairGray1984 I like the soundtrack because of the lyrics, actually. Something different for a change, reminds me of Nier or The World Ends With You.

  • @TheAvidGamer91 Each to his own I guess :P I prefer old school final fantasys, but im pretty sure ill like this game anyways :)

  • @AlistairGray1984 I think part of it is that they're just having some fun with this game. They added a lot of new features to the game and seeing as how ridiculous X-2 was, they're just doing some experimental stuff with this one as well.

  • Noel:"Serah watch out! theres a robo-behemot ahead!"

    Serah: "AAAHHHH! Metal-cactor behind you!"

    *music plays*

  • @sorrikkai7 wtf lol

  • Dude? This is awesome, I think it fits the game perfectly, y'all need to stop comparing it to the older Final Fantasy games, this game is Final Fantasy in name only, it's it's own damn game, judge it for what it is, and not how different it is from the older games.

    -_-

  • spice girls?????? xD xD

  • 116 dislikes WHAT! WHY?? I am an oldschool FF gamer since the 90s yes I am 24 and even I dont mind this a all I like it. Give it a chance and maybe you will see what I see... eh up to you at the end.

  • I actually like this song.

  • This has no business in any game ever. One of the worst tracks in the history of the franchise. And what's up with every song being lyrical or just old tracks throw in randomly into the game? I loved FF13's soundtrack and I thought that like would continue in the sequel, but its the 2nd worst thing I hate about it. Having only 2 uninteresting main leads is the worst part about it.

I will say that battle system has greatly improved, but with only 2 human playable characters, it gets boring fast.

  • @jayhow92 Having played the game, I never got bored with the battles, nor did I find the characters uninteresting. Noel might be one of my favorite characters in the whole of the XIII universe now, and Serah wasn't nearly as bad as everyone made her out to be. As for the music - it sounds like something ripped out of The World Ends With You. Is it really so bad for one game in the series to go a new direction with music? It's kinda refreshing, I think. Something real different for a change.

  • @jayhow92 why dont ya make your own game soundtrack then since ya hate it so much geez.

  • So glad I finally, FINALLY stopped giving a shit about Final Fantasy after the atrocity that was XIII.

Guess it's time to replay the games when FF was actually good and not an embarrassment.

  • @derschlauepeter Glad you came all the way online to a video about a game you don't give a shit about to post this comment. I'm okay with you voicing your opinion, but to spend the time to find a forum about something you hate just to say you hate it kind of screams "I have no life."

  • @IsaacTeranIceSage I just got linked to this and felt like voicing my opinion. It's not that Final Fantasy doesn't have emotional value to me - I personally feel bad about how the series' quality has declined. And even though this might be nitpicking bad parts of the soundtrack, this piece felt indicative for that to me. Not saying that others shouldn't enjoy it, by all means! If people can enjoy a game I can't, that's good for them (i.e. more enjoyment).

  • @derschlauepeter See I like this comment. Give your opinion, please, but give some evidence (like you just did). I respect that so much better. Personally I liked XIII and am really looking forward to XIII-2. I'll admit that this isn't the most emotionally stimulating track, but it's stuck in my head and now I'm starting to feel the strength behind the words. I understand that FF has taken some radical changes since the nostalgia days, but I don't think that means it should be crucified.

  • @derschlauepeter Granted, this hasn't been my first FF (my first one was IV, I think. Then V, and then skipped to X, since I was behind in the times). Yet I still feel that the recent games maintain a certain fantastic element that is very Final Fantasy, even if it is different from previous games. I respect your opinion, but I feel I must disagree. For me, XIII has been a success in all I want in gaming: a great story, awesome music, and memorable characters.

  • @IsaacTeranIceSage Yes, and while I don't share your opinion, I'm happy for you that you were able to enjoy XIII. Hell, I'd love to be able to enjoy it - RPGs are about my favorite genre, and great RPGs are the best experiences you can have in gaming.

But hey, at least I have something to look for with Theatrhythm on the 3DS!

(I also like how it's possible to improve the comment quality tenfold by exchanging opinions in a civil manner.)

  • @derschlauepeter Indeed. Difficult to find civil conversations on the internet, especially Youtube. Well I hope that FF comes to impress you in future releases. Square-enix is taking a new direction with the series, but that doesn't mean that's its greatness is coming to an end. I felt XIII continued the legacy, but perhaps some other future release will do that for you.

  • @derschlauepeter Yeah, but it's hard to enjoy something that touched you and you had a great time with when other say it's a travesty to mankind and as you put it an embarrassment but hey, I'm all for keeping it civil in the comments here. :D Try listening to other tracks like An Arrow Through Time or Wish, I promise it's more then just two monkey's banging pots and pans together!

  • This is weird to me, because the music of this sequel sounds so different from what we would usually hear when it comes to Final Fantasy's music. O_O

The soundtrack still amuses me, though.

  • It reminds me of The World Ends With You.

  • @TheGuyNamedAnon Me too! o.o

  • very weird choice squenix.... can't we just get the same sound track as japan??

  • @DaRkLoRd1061 Huh? They have the same soundtrack.

  • @Fleefles really i wouldn't of thought they would have rapping in the japanese version, is their at least sung in japanese, or do they get the english singing as well??

  • Hoo boy. At least Bitter Dance in Star Ocean 3 was goddamn hilarious.

  • I have no problem with vocals in VGMs a la Persona and TWEWY, but this is god awful. It sounds like a child wrote this and her musically obliviously mother rapped it.

  • I like it but sad it`s a rap song~~

    But still,it`s ok I think~~

  • More I listen to this, the more I like it.

  • Not talking about sex or drugs. That makes the rap okay. Actually is an interesting twist on the normal RPG OST. Quite inventive. I like it.

  • im sorry but i love this.

  • Haters Gonna Hates, i like it

  • Hey I like this a LOT, it sounds a lot like "The World Ends With You" which is my favorite Square game

  • I dunno why, but I feel like this game is gonna suck,

Yet it's gonna be a big guilty pleasure for alot of people.

  • be bold i say. be bold.

  • oh God no. The Metal Chocobo one was funny. This is a car crash... :S at least get someone to rap properly!!!!!!

  • I'm torn between liking this song for its trance aspects, and hating it for the rap

  • Does this remind anyone else of the Persona franchise?

  • @slitzkin532 Definitely, although not to sound like a hater but Persona does it way better, imo

  • @slitzkin532 hrmm kinda, persona was known for its rap-like music....i love persona 3 the most
