Why not just spend a few bucks on a set of powered PC speakers that has the PC speaker connection built in.... plug that into your iPod.... instant speakers for your device that will not burn it up; due to the fact that they are powered already.
i just made one, i took 2 sets of old dell speakers, took a heavy piece of carboard, screwed them in after cutting out holes, i simply took both the circut boards and left them hooked up to the speakers, but split the aux jack and had it go to both circut boards.... also less work then cut up some plexy glass and took my hot glue gun to it, sealing it up. i also ran a charging cable, works perfectly fine

Because IPOD'S Are Cheap And Do not have good Batteries Like the Sony does. my sony will last 52 hours before needing a charge. I fwhen I left it on fot two days and it was still working.ound Out The hard way
this works, nice! but if you do it that way, it only plays either the left or right audio, for example, if you plug in regular headphones, and only listen to the right one or left one, thats what youll hear
Alternatively leave the jack in the cable, leave your ipod inside your speaker, probably you need a ipod shuffle (the small ones) and leave the end of the speaker cable dangle,slightly stripped.
