If you're so concerned about fighting to retain Australia's culture and heritage, then fight against the free trade agreements the previous government signed, particularly the ones that affect our film and television industries, which gives greater credence to the destruction of our culture than a very small percentage of our population will do. That free trade agreement with USA for example is a licence to decimate our local industries.

I've spoke to some of my Iraqi students, many of whom where boat people, and their stories of what they went through are just horrific, stories of how close they came to facing death. No child of 8 or 9 should ever experience what they have. And they are so thankful for being here, they're not taking advantage of us, if anything, they want to do anything they can to pay gratitude to us for granting asylum

I am amongst average people every day - I work as a teacher at a state school where 30% of the families are on Education Maintenance Allowance, and as stated earlier, 10% of the kids are kids of Arabic refugees (mostly from Iraq and some from Iran and Afghanistan) plus a variety of other cultures, including 3% Indigenous. I am also active in my community in sports and in arts. THAT is everyday Australians. The only people who express concern are from those who are ignorant of other cultures.

The term global governance comes up numerous times in the Copenhagen treaty. The same treaty that Rudd was going to sign. It is something they have been working towards for a long time and was set in motion at the Lima talks in 1974.
Look it up on the web, there is plenty of information out there. While you are at it look up Fabian society and you will also see that many of our politicians are members and subscribe to this policy.

If you're so concerned about fighting to retain Australia's culture and heritage, then fight against the free trade agreements the previous government signed, particularly the ones that affect our film and television industries, which gives greater credence to the destruction of our culture than a very small percentage of our population will do. Our history needs to be taught in schools and our heritage should be not rubbished.

I rubbish people who argue points made on assumptions and information that is not correct, which is what Hanson has done. I do agree that manufacturing is facing an unacceptable decline. Immigration through refugees (which is how muslims come here) represents roughly 10% of our total immigration - I don't see that as a threat

I also believe it would be neglectful of us to turn our backs on those seeking asylum. I've spoke to some of my Iraqi students, many of whom where boat people, and their stories of what they went through are just horrific, stories of how close they came to facing death. No child of 8 or 9 should ever experience what they have. And they are so thankful for being here, they're not taking advantage of us, if anything, they want to do anything they can to pay gratitude to us for granting asylum

I am amongst average people every day - I work as a teacher at a state school where 30% of the families are on Education Maintenance Allowance, and as stated earlier, 10% of the kids are kids of Arabic refugees (mostly from Iraq and some from Iran and Afghanistan) plus a variety of other cultures, including 3% Indigenous. I am also active in my community in sports and in arts. THAT is everyday Australians. The only people who express concern are from those who are ignorant of other cultures.
