After you have unlocked your screen, at the top you will see the time battery life wifi connection etc. if u put your finger on tht then slide it to the bottem another screen will appear then just slide it back up to get rid of it.  I dont no if this is new but i found it out after i updated my ipod touch 4g ;)

@JoshskaterXD i thought the same thing at first. Then, i don't know every thing got better. The lock screen improved in responsiveness (somewhat) as well as the notifications pull down. The only thing that's a major issue that hasn't resolved itself is syncing over wifi. It hasn't done a complete yet :(

Douple tap the home button to bring up the multi-tasking bar. Tap and hold one of the app icons. Click on the little red circles with white bars to close the apps you aren't using. This will save you a lot of battery life.

Chris my favorite, not an iOS 5 feature but I think iOS 4. Double tapping the status bar in safari, SMS and most apps really bring u back to top of the page. Very helpful when reading a web page or after scrolling down and want to get back to address bar. iOS 5 it has to be the ability to set tons for everything. Another oldie shaking the phone to remove written text or replace it.
