  • Sunday School, NOT church services (significant distinction). Kalona is one of the few communities to use Sunday School Houses.

Every community is different. Here, the families take turns hosting church services in their homes every 2 weeks.

On alternate Sundays, there is an extended Sunday School service held at these Sunday School Houses. (Not an "unused schoolhouse"; they were built for this express purpose and are still very much in use.)

Interesting video. I know some of these folks.

  • I am familiar with this exact Amish Sunday School building! I know it's exact location! The Vision Ag ammonia tank was the "dead" give away for me!

  • skip forward to 3:41 cause the rest of the vid is just looking at the window :/

  • @mitch4942 Yes and at 3:47 you can hear am Amish man fart. (I grew up Amish)

  • @mrdeleted Hahahaha! I think that was more like the camera man who farted. XD

  • I used to be Amish, but we did not have service in school buildings, we had it either in the home, or in a barn. I am however wondering why you were snooping outside their service?

  • @mrdeleted Last time I checked people do not "leave" being AMISH? And they are curious.. as all those who have viewed this short video.

  • @layhayla Yes, I left the Amish church that I was raised is. I have a lot of videos, including some of my parents.

  • Some Amish have church in houses, some have church buildings.

  • @bxccapricorn you'd be surprised at how many of them do have quite a bit of money. To say they don't have wealth is totally off base.

  • I am not sure that you would call this building a "church" because the Amish I have seen always have Sunday services in their homes. Could this be a person's home in bad repair. If it's someone's house, how could they live in it with those windows like that?

  • Isn't it a disgrace for them to let their church fall into disrepair? I felt sorry for them untill they came out of the building and most all were able to swing a hammer.

Lazyness must run in the Amish Community!

They should be ashamed of this!

  • @slugo4449

Perhaps they dont have money to make certain repairs in the outside

Perhaps inside it is more pleasing to your eye
