Years ago (I'm an old guy too; sigh), Gramm faulted Clinton for dodging the draft. When it was pointed out to Gramm that he did the same, & more times, his reply was, "But I supported the war." I'm not making this up!
this is an excellent analysis of a very valid issue. mccain's face-saver for all these years has been the value of perception. no wonder he's convinced that all of our big problems only require 'mental solutions'.
I would say the GOP has tanked but they count votes creatively.
