I'm seeing them August 5th in Houston. This is going to be my first time seeing them live and I'm super excited. And in my opinion, I'm glad they got heavier from Temptation. Most bands get lighter as they go on. But to see The Showdown getting heavier is an accomplishment in itself.

Songs like "Six Feet Under" and "Head Down" from their last album are my kind of stuff. From the old school heavy metal, I like Sacred Warrior, Guardian, Barren Cross, Bloodgood, Holy Soldier. Of course I also like death metal, but there's a million of those today, when good Heavy Metal bands today are gone. That's why The Showdown was promising, but now it's just another drop in the bucket.

Does anybody else outhere think Heavy Metal (old school, that is) rules? I mean, TCMW was a great back to the basics rythm and epic solos. Now, (sigh) they're back to the repetitive riffin' and nonstop screaming... it gets old by the end of the 10th second... why would they want to be like anyone else out there? C'mon, guys, you are better than this..!

I'm all about "old school" stuff...back in '87-'91 I used to gig around...opened for Sacred Warrior, Vengeance, B.C., Whitecross...even roadied for Stryper...(most) all good guys...could tell you stories. Showdown is from my town, btw, and is pretty close to old school, actually...very talented guys.

And everyone, I'm a Christian so I am respectuf of what others think, I'm just expressing my opinion, no need to be hateful like Ram81 (I think that's after 73 and 67, so what would you know about the real heavy metal anyway?)
